Miltiádis Tentóglou jumps a new World Lead Long Jump…again of 8.41m at Hauts de France Pas de Calais, Liévin - World Indoor Tour 2023. This was just a day after he was notified that his previous 8.40m world Lead jump from Toruń Poland one week prior would be disqualified because he jumped in shoes that were not approved by world athletics. In the 400m simi-finals of the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, the then 400m British National Record Holder Derek Redmond was a favorite to win a Olympic medal, but after 150 m, he injured his hamstring. Determined to finish the race, he got back up and he hobbled on one leg trying to finish the race. but with 100m left, the pain became too great. His father Jim Redmond was in the stadium stands watching and seeing his son in pain, he rushed down to the track surface, fighting off security guards trying to stop him until he reached his son. When he reached his son, Derek broke down in tears! Derek later recalled what his father said: “He was telling me that I had nothing to prove and that I didn't need to do this, but I told him I was going to finish.
