Qalandars and Delhi Bulls collided in the second game of Abu Dhabi T10 League, the latter emerged victorious quite convincingly after winning the toss and restricting their opponents to 107/6. Qalandars’ innings never quite got off as their batsmen kept getting starts before throwing their wicket away. 18 each from Chris Jordan and Samit Patel lower down the order after Tom Banton and Sohail Akhtar’s 14, respectively, took them only this far. Chasing a below-par target for the win, Evin Lewis – smoked 5 sixes and three boundaries during his 48 from just 18 – firstly added 47 for the opening stand with Rahmanullah Gurbaz (17 from 12), and followed it with an unbeaten 64-run second-wicket partnership alongside Ravi Bopara, who scored 37 from 15, including five boundaries and a couple of fours, as the Bulls chased the target with 9 wickets in hand and 16 balls to spare. The 8th day of the Abu Dhabi T10 League commenced with the Deccan Gladiators taking on the Maratha Arabians. After the latter opted to field, Pravin Tambe struck in the opening over to get rid of Azam Khan. It was a 64-run stand between Prashant Gupta, who slammed four fours and a couple of sixes en route to his 35 from 16, alongside Yasir Kaleem’s 28 from as many deliveries that recovered the team from the early loss. Sompal Kami, however, dismissed both the batsmen in a space of two deliveries before Anwar Ali smoked a 12-ball 39 to power the Gladiators to 120/4. In response, the frugal spells from Zahoor Khan and Aaron Summers kept Arabians’ quest of momentum unfulfilled, who lost both Abdul Shakoor and Shoaib Malik cheaply. Though skipper Mosaddek Hossain attempted his best, hitting three sixes and as many boundaries in his 21-ball 44, alongside Ishant Malhotra, who got 22 from 18 for himself, the Arabians could only reach 91/3 at the end of their innings, losing the fixture eventually by 29 runs. As much as the previous fixture belonged to Gayle, this one belonged to Waseem Muhammad, who went berserk during Warriors’ response. Slamming Monir Hossain for a whopping 35 runs in the second over, Muhammad notched up his half-century at a lightning pace – 12 balls. From the opposite end, Brandon King (20 from 9) slapped a couple of shots too. Though the Warriors lost him and Nicholas Pooran in quick succession, Muhammad’s ridiculous assault, which included 7 maximums, had already nailed the chase. Rovmann Powell came alongside him to complete the formalities as the Warriors gunned down the target in only 4.3 overs. Abu Dhabi T10 League 2021, Season 4 Schedule - January 28 to February 6. The second fixture on Day 7 between the Maratha Arabians and Team Abu Dhabi was simply a one-man show, that of Chris Gayle, who came amongst the runs after a host of failures. Batting first, the Arabians had set a target of 98 on the back of Alishan Sharafu, who got 33 from 23 including three sixes, and a 13-ball 20 from Mohammad Hafeez. Obed McCoy grabbed a couple of wickets alongside Naveen ul Haq and Jamie Overton, who got one each. During the response, Gayle arrived with a bang, and pummeled 9 sixes and 6 fours in his 22-ball blitzkrieg. Having raced off to his half-century from merely 12 deliveries, he continued his carnage with brutal force, until he took his team across the line of victory rather singlehandedly. Such was his dominance that out of the 98 needed for a win, as many as 84 came from his bat as Team Abu Dhabi sealed the game in only 5.3 overs, with 9 wickets in hands. Deccan Gladiators faced Northern Warriors in the 18th match of the Abu Dhabi T10 league at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. After a rather underwhelming contest, a tightly-contested final fixture of the day between Northern Warriors and Deccan Gladiators compensated well. Despite the golden duck from Brandon King, a sizzling 23-ball 51, which included four sixes and as many boundaries from Rovman Powell, orchestrated the Warriors’ innings. Quick-fire cameos from Nicholas Pooran (29 from 16) and Waseem Muhammad (26 from 10) before Fabien Allen’s late flourish of 22 from 12 led them to a winnable total of 143/4. Slamming five sixes and four boundaries in his half-century (54 from 22), Azam Khan ensured to keep the Gladiators in the hunt. Despite the controlled spells from Fabien Allen and Junaid Siddique, who both got two wickets each in their economical spells, the other bowlers leaked runs in plenty as Anwar Ali counterattacked through his 10-ball cameo, scoring 35 with three fours and as many sixes. Needing 24 from the last over, Wayne Parnell somehow managed to defend it as Gladiators fell agonizingly short by 3 runs. Abu Dhabi T10 League 2021, Season 4 Schedule - January 28 to February 6. Delhi Bulls faced Pune Devils in the 17th match of the Abu Dhabi T10 league at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. The second clash – between Pune Devils and Delhi Bulls – was disappointing and uncharacteristic of a format renowned for fast-paced action. After a start of sorts, given by Kennar Lewis (15 from 7), the Devils underwent a collapse courtesy of Amad Butt’s twin strikes in the third over. Before Nasir Hossain’s men could have found any mode of recovery, they were jolted thrice by Ali Khan, who finished with scarcely-believable figures: 0.5-0-0-3 and was injured, unfortunately. After restricting their opponents for 57/7, Evin Lewis and Sherfane Rutherford chipped in alongside Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who got 26 from 14, as Bulls chased the target in merely 4.4 overs; winning the match by 8 wickets. Qalandars faced Maratha Arabians in the 16th match of the Abu Dhabi T10 league at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. Qalandars defeated Maratha Arabians by 4 wickets to register their fourth consecutive victory of Abu Dhabi T10 League. Qalandars managed the cakewalk of a par total of 102 set up by the Arabians. It only took a few cameos from Sharjeel Khan and captain Sohail Akhtar up top and Ben Dunk to finish things off. Despite a good start from the openers Maratha Arabians managed only a par score and their bowlers again failed to defend the total as Qalandars batsmen finished the game within 9 overs and handed Maratha Arabians yet another defeat in the 4th season of T10 League.
