This was quite a funny moment when a random guy ran onto the field in the 63 minute of the Wales vs South Africa match. I doubt a try would've been scored if he didn't interrupt the move, because it was a terrible last pass which meant Liam Williams had to reach back to get it which made it possible for the Springbok cover defence to reach him in time. However, if that was a better pass then it would've been interesting to see what happened because at that point the game was 15-15 all. A try there would've definitely made the game more interesting. But luckily the guy did not have a impact on the move. Another interesting question to ask is, was this Jaco Johan?
Another massive game played where bad officiating cost a team a game. I'm at a loss for how bad officiating has become. In this video I wanted to showcase 2 big talking points. The first one was a clear forward pass from Sale Sharks that happened in front of the ref. But for some strange reason, he deemed it okay even though it was clear and obvious that the ball went forward out of the hands. The 2nd talking point was the last try that Sale scored where there was enough evidence to prove Raffi Quirke was guilty of double movement before scoring the try. It's astonishing that the TMO and Ref can make use of replays and still find ways to make the wrong decision. It was clear that Quirke's knee hit the ground when he was way short. His downward movement allowed him to only place the ball once. As he went down and placed the ball, he was well short. He then reaches out again to score, which he was not allowed to do. The last angle also clearly shows how he uses his forearm and hips to crawl forward, before he places it the 2nd time. More proof that is was double movement. Yet, the ref and TMO deemed he was okay and awarded the try. How many games must be lost because of atrocious officiating before refs can be held accountable? There seems to be a massive problem with Northern Hemisphere officiating. I've pointed that out multiple times with how bad it is in the United Rugby Championship.
I'm honestly out of words to describe how disgraceful the NH officiating is. Do these guys have a different law book than what we used in the SH? Because I'm pretty sure for a try to be score, the ball must be grounded on or over the try line. Can somebody maybe help me that? If I'm wrong I'll gladly admit to my mistake but I'm sure we in the SH have to ground the ball to score a try. Gianluca Gnecchi (The Ref) and Matteo Liperini (TMO) should be suspended after making stupid mistake. How is it allowed that officiating like this costs a team a game and yet, nothing is going to happen to them? World Rugby, get your stuff together. The Officiating has been disgraceful. How on earth can they be called "professionals" if they make stupid mistakes like that?
It seems like nobody picked this up but the Springboks were robbed of their victory. I first noticed how long Australia was taking with their decision to kick after they signaled they want to go for goal. There seemed to be a lot of confusion on who is taking the kick which took a lot of time for them to decide. According to IRB Rules, Once a team indicates a kick, the kicking team only has 60 seconds (Playing Time) to make the kick even if the ball falls over. If they can't make the kick in those 60 seconds, the referee should then disallow the kick and award a scrum towards the opposition team. Here I show clearly how Australia takes a lot longer than the 60 seconds, yet nothing happened. I actually do think Eben told the ref a few times they should hurry up but the ref just shunned him away. Now this was a crucial mistake that obviously won Australia the game. Maybe I'm wrong here guys, but I checked the IRB Laws on what is meant by a team "Indicating" a kick to goal and also checked the law on their website regarding the allowed time to kick. If they used those same laws on their own website, that means the Springboks should've been awarded a scrum and the game would've been over. Law 8.20: If the team indicates to the referee the intention to kick at goal, they must kick at goal. The intention to kick can be communicated to the referee or signaled by the arrival of the kicking tee or sand, or when the player makes a mark on the ground. Law 8.21: The kick must be taken within 60 seconds (playing time) from the time the team indicated their intention to do so, even if the ball rolls over and has to be placed again. Sanction: Kick is disallowed and a scrum is awarded. Sources: https://www.world.rugby/the-game/laws/law/8 Check under Law 8.20 and 8.21 explain the process of indicating a kick for goal and the time allowed. I tried looking if anybody else saw this but it doesn't look like they did. This just bothered me and I wanted to make a video because even though the Springboks played bad, they should've won if the laws were followed.
This was just another great move by the Bulls midfield, who was on fire the whole game. In this case Jeremy Ward actually makes great read and destroys Harold Vorster, but Werner Kok was out of position when Harold made a short pass. It was just a simple move that was executed to perfection by the Bulls midfield.
The Sharks lost the final because of their midfield defence, this instance was just a misread by Jeremy Ward who is usually amazing on defence. People are probably going to criticize him a lot, but I think we have to give credit to Harold Vorster here, He just ran a beautiful line and waited until the last second to change his body direction and by the time Jeremy realised it, it was too late to react. It was just a good move that was executed to perfection. I wouldn't be too harsh on Jeremy on this one.
Makazole Mapimpi made this try look so easy with the simple run in, but it was brilliantly set up by Willie le Roux who is the Architect in the Springbok team. This is excellent vision and execution from Willie for the Springboks vs Argentina Thanks to ChyronHego for letting us use their software!
This is the first video on a few players that I though had an amazing series. Eben has to be in consideration is the GOAT when it comes to lock for the Springboks. The guys strikes fear into the opponents. He played a massive role in the series win for the Springboks.
