Frank Lampard refuses to comment after Leeds boss Marcelo Biela admits he spied on 'all the rivals' . Frank Lampard refused to comment on Marcelo Bielsa's latest press conference as the spying row between Leeds and Derby continued to unfold. Bielsa gave a lengthy presentation to journalists on Wednesday evening while making the frank admission that Leeds had 'observed all the rivals' in training sessions prior to playing them in the Sky Bet Championship this season. It comes after a staff member of Leeds was caught by police at the Derby training ground attempting to gain information ahead of the Friday night fixture, which Leeds subsequently won 2-0, and prompted accusations of spying. Bielsa went to extreme lengths on Wednesday to show all the detailed analysis he does of opponents aside from covertly watching them train, but Lampard refused to be drawn on the topic once again ahead of Derby's FA Cup replay with Southampton. 'I made quite a few comments earlier in the week about it,' he told the BBC, referring to his comments ahead of the Friday night fixture. 'I haven't seen the latest press conference but have been told about it in general terms. It is one to comment on, or not, when I know more about it. 'We have a big game so the last thing I want to do is harp back to details that are not relevant to tonight.' Former England striker Alan Shearer, working as a pundit ahead of the third-round tie at St Mary's that Derby went on to win on penalites, admitted that sending in people to watch training sessions was not a new thing, but claimed it was 'wrong' to do so. He said: 'It's very open and honest from him (Bielsa). Watching teams on the sly is nothing new to football. 'When you go away into European games and you train at the stadium the night before, you are almost certain that there is someone from the opposition watching. 'It is nothing new but it is slightly different when it is not an open training session and there is no privacy and anyone can watch you. 'I don't think it is anything new but it is definitely wrong. You can't go into someone's private training ground when you are not invited, and then take information from that. It is different in an open session.' Ex-England international Jermaine Jenas, who had called for Leeds to be deducted points in the immediate aftermath of Bielsa's initial comments, added: 'It is wrong, as simple as that. 'In terms of punishment, those players are there (top of the league) by merit and have played brilliantly all year. Should they be punished on the basis of what the manager has done? 'We are not all naive but it doesn't feel right.'

Marcelo Bielsa reveals Leeds' undercover tracking of rivals' training goes way deeper than Derby. Marcelo Bielsa admitted Leeds have spied on every team this season as he gave a PowerPoint presentation at an emergency press conference on Wednesday.  Twenty-four hours before Leeds took on promotion rivals Derby at Elland Road, a member of Bielsa's staff was spotted at the Rams' training ground and police were called.  Frank Lampard and his players were upset by what they felt was a move that crossed the line and while Bielsa admitted it the night of the game, he further clarified his position on Wednesday.  The assembled media sat in front of a computer screen which projected a presentation with all of Bielsa's backroom staff stood are at the back of the room. The Leeds manager was joined by trusted translator Salim Lamrani at a small table at the front of the room as he made his way through a detailed presentation.  'I don't want to compare my behaviour with previous behaviour that are similar,' Bielsa said.  'I heard there are others which also affected fair play but absolutely, I don't want to defend myself by attacking others. What I've done is not illegal. It's not specified (in the rules) and it's not restrained.  'We can discuss it, it's not seen as a good thing but it's not a violation of the law. I know that not everything that is legal is right to do.' Reading from a pre-prepared statement, Bielsa added: 'If you observe something without the authorisation of the people being observed we call it spying and we say it is spying.  'I can't say it's the right thing to do but I'm going to explain that I didn't have bad intentions or get an advantage.'  Scrutiny intensified on Leeds in the wake of the 2-0 win over Derby with the EFL launching a formal investigation into the matter.  Bielsa took responsibility at the time and has now reiterated it has been a common part of the club's operation since he took charge in the summer.  Rather than back down   June 15, 2018: Leeds United announce Marcelo Bielsa as manager to replace Paul Heckingbottom. He became the highest-paid manager in the club's 99-year history August 5, 2018: Bielsa gets his first competitive win as boss on the opening day of the season with a 3-1 home win over Stoke City August 11, 2018: Leeds beat Derby 4-1 at Pride Park and it later emerges there was someone in the bushes watching Frank Lampard's team train. Bielsa admitted this before the return fixture recently  August 14, 2018: Bielsa made it three wins from three with victory over Bolton Wanderers to become the first Leeds manager since Jimmy Armfield in October 1974 to win his first three games August 18, 2018: A 2-0 victory over Rotherham ensures Bielsa's 100 per cent start and he becomes the first manager in the club's history to win his opening four games  September 7, 2018: Following an impressive start to life in the Elland Road hotseat, Bielsa is awarded Championship Manager of the Month for August  September 22, 2018: The 63-year-old's unbeaten start in charge of Leeds is brought to an end after a 2-1 defeat at home to Birmingham City. Bielsa took responsibility for what he labelled a 'tactical mistake'  December 23, 2018: A dramatic 3-2 win away from home against Aston Villa ensured the club sat top of the Championship table at the halfway point in the season  January 10, 2019: Leeds are embroiled in a spy row after a member of staff is removed from Derby's training ground by police 24 hours before the two sides meet at Elland Road January 11, 2019: Bielsa takes full responsibility before kick-off but insists that he has done this in other jobs outside of England. Leeds go on to win the game 2-0  January 16, 2019: The former Athletic Bilbao boss gives the assembled media a PowerPoint presentation on the spy storm and explains his involvement. Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez should have crack at signing Bradley Dack
Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez should have crack at signing Bradley Dack

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez should have crack at signing Bradley Dack. Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray believes Bradley Dack is too good to be 'languishing in the middle of the Championship' - and he is right. How Newcastle United must wish they had the means to take the 25-year-old and give him the platform he clearly deserves. They are, after all, desperately short of goals and creativity in the No 10 position. Dack has now been involved in 20 goals from 25 appearances this season. He has scored 13, the latest of which was a bullet header during Saturday's 1-1 draw at St James' Park. Figures as wild as £20million have been quoted for a player who cost Blackburn £750,000 from Gillingham in 2017. But, on this evidence, he might just be worth it. 'The only previous time I played a competitive game against a Premier League side was for Gillingham against Tottenham - and we got beat 5-0!' said Dack. 'I remember thinking afterwards, "I'm a long way off from this kind of level". It wasn't a great feeling. 'But playing against Newcastle, I proved to myself that I can play at this level. A few of our boys have said my header was Shearer-esque!' Dack makes no secret of his role model, and his judgement is sound. 'I always looked up to Frank Lampard and the goals he scored from midfield,' he added. 'I probably wasn't quick enough to play as a centre-forward, so attacking midfield is my best position and he was the best at it.' Newcastle forced a barely-deserved replay when Matt Ritchie converted an 85th-minute penalty after Corry Evans tripped Ayoze Perez. Rafa Benitez's priorities lie with Premier League survival, something he recently claimed would be a 'miracle' for them to achieve. 2/5 - Eight changes for Newcastle and a feeling they would have been happy to duck out. At least Blackburn and their travelling fans enjoyed it.  There is a feeling that comment has affected morale in the dressing-room and in the stands. But Benitez said: 'You are insisting on that, but the players know exactly what we were talking about. It is quite obvious we are working so hard, we have this situation and the players are trying their best.'

Celtic demand referee John Beaton explain why Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos avoided action
Celtic demand referee John Beaton explain why Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos avoided action

Celtic demand referee John Beaton explain why Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos avoided action. Celtic called on referee John Beaton to publicly explain why he let Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos off the hook. The Colombian international appeared to kick Parkhead skipper Scott Brown, stand on Anthony Ralston and flick out his hand at Ryan Christie's groin during last Saturday's 1-0 Old Firm victory for Steven Gerrard's side at Ibrox. But 22-year-old Morelos escaped retrospective SFA punishment because Beaton confirmed that he had witnessed all three incidents at the time. Expressing 'surprise' that the official had failed to take action against Morelos, Celtic released a strongly-worded statement in which they called for transparency - and a meeting with SFA chief executive Ian Maxwell and head of refereeing John Fleming. 'It is reported that no action was taken because the match referee saw all of the incidents in question,' the club's statement read. 'Given that the referee took no action at the time, this tends to suggest that such conduct, which in one instance led to a Celtic player, Anthony Ralston, being injured, is acceptable in Scottish football. That cannot be right. 'On the day, Celtic did not play well enough to win the match, something we accept. However, this issue goes beyond the result of the match. 'Celtic is not the only club this season to raise concerns regarding the standard of officiating at matches in Scotland, concerns which have also been shared by many commentators on the game.' Rangers were last month fined £6,000 after they released a statement which expressed stinging criticism of referee Willie Collum after he sent off Daniel Candeias during November's win over St Mirren. The Ibrox club also vowed to continue with their campaign to allow disputed yellow cards to be contested. Kilmarnock, Hearts, Aberdeen and Motherwell have also been critical of standards of officiating in Scottish football this season - and Celtic are now the latest club to seek discussions with the governing body on the issue. The Parkhead statement continued: 'In order to fully understand what is going on, Celtic, our supporters, Scottish clubs and the general Scottish football public need transparency in these matters. 'We therefore call on the Scottish FA to allow the referee, John Beaton, to explain these decisions publicly as well as any match officials involved in other similar circumstances. 'In the meantime, we have requested a meeting with Scottish FA chief executive, Ian Maxwell, and the Association's head of refereeing.' The SFA issued a response to Celtic last night, saying it was agreed last month that a meeting involving managers, referees and PFA Scotland is to be arranged in a bid to heal the current rift between clubs and match officials. The SFA statement added: 'We welcome discussion with any of our member clubs. 'The board discussed this last month and it was agreed that we would arrange a meeting involving stakeholders including managers, our Referee Operations department and PFA Scotland. 'This will be an excellent opportunity to open dialogue, answer questions and discuss opportunities to improve our game.'

Former Guardiola ace shares what he deems Man City manager's Achilles heel. The Saints host the Citizens in the Premier League on Sunday with Guardiola's side in an unfamiliar position of having lost three of their last four. Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has highlighted what he feels could have led to Manchester City's loss in form ahead of their Premier League clash on Sunday. The Saints host the reigning English champions at St Mary's but, unusually, Pep Guardiola's charges are in a position where they will be desperate to get a result. Last season, the Citizens appeared indomitable but they go to the south coast on the back of two consecutive league defeats, against Crystal Palace and Leicester City, for a total of three in four including the Chelsea loss. Southampton captain Hojbjerg played under Guardiola at Bayern Munich so will have a decent enough idea of what Sunday's opposition manager is like and what makes him tick. In an interview with The Times, the Denmark international suggested that the Spaniard's intensity and obsessive attention to detail is a double-edged sword that may be going against him now. "He is the most demanding person, not only coach, that I have ever met," said Hojbjerg. "We sit on the bus after we have won and he sits on the bus watching the game and then he is in his office with two laptops and a television and he is analysing. "Maybe that's what makes him the greatest.. but also maybe that is what makes him lose, because it is too much, he drowns." According to BBC Sport, Southampton have won just one of their last 11 Premier League meetings with Manchester City, while the visitors will be looking to win five in a row against Saints in the Premier League for the first time.

Leeds United midfielder understands the threat posed by two clubs

Leeds United midfielder understands the threat posed by two clubs. Leeds United are above Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion in the Championship table at the moment. Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich’s comments to The Yorkshire Post suggest that he considers West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City as their main challengers for the Championship title. Marcelo Bielsa’s side are at the top of the Championship table at the moment with 51 points from 24 matches. The West Yorkshire outfit are three points clear of second-placed Norwich City and six points clear of third-placed West Brom. Klich, who has established himself as an important player in the Leeds team this season, has spoken of the threat posed to Leeds by West Brom and Norwich. The 28-year-old Poland international midfielder told The Yorkshire Post regarding the promotion race: “We need to make the gap even bigger. “We know West Brom are going to win games and you saw with Norwich that they scored in the 93rd and 98th minute again (to draw with Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day). They are dropping points but they are not losing games.” Promotion challenge Leeds are playing well at the moment and are scoring late goals to win important matches. The West Yorkshire outfit have found a degree of consistency that they have lacked in recent seasons, and one should not be surprised if they maintain it for the rest of the season. Bielsa’s team, though, will face tough competition from West Brom and Norwich, as well as from Sheffield United, Middlesbrough, Derby County, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest.
