Tulsa, Oklahoma – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the Seattle Kraken (NHL), lost to the Tulsa Oilers 4-1 in the first game of a back-to-back on Saturday night in Oklahoma. The Oilers jumped on the Americans for three quick goals in the first period and had a 3-0 lead six minutes in. Alex Gilmour (16), Dougie Lagrone (10), and Maxim Golod (4) all lit the lamp for Tulsa. The Americans finally got on the board two minutes later when Jackson Leppard (18) found a space in between the pads of Daniel Mannella, but that would be the last goal the Americans would score on the night. “We got off to a tough start tonight,” said Americans Captain Spencer Asuchak. “We left our goalie out to dry. He played spectacular tonight and we didn’t do enough to help him.” The Oilers outshot the Americans 43-21 for the game. Penalties were also a big factor. 46 total for the Americans compared to 22 for Tulsa. The same two clubs battle it out on Sunday afternoon in Allen at 2:05 pm. The Allen Americans defeated the Kansas City Mavericks in overtime on Wednesday night 3-2, ending their two-game losing streak. Josh Winquist continues to swing a hot stick for Allen scoring a natural hat trick on Wednesday, netting the only three goals of the game for the Americans. Winquist goal at the 1:56 mark of the overtime period sent the Americans faithful home happy. “We knew if we played our game we would get the extra point,” noted Winquist. “Credit Lohin (Ryan) for making a great pass to set me up. We’re trying move up in the standings and with so few games left every game is crucial.” Winquist has four goals in his last two games, and nine goals in his last seven. With his three goals on Wednesday, he’s now sixth overall on the team with 15. Luke Peressini made the start for Allen stopping 29 of 31 Kansas City shots to get the win. The Americans and Mavericks play again on Friday night in Kansas City. The Americans will play all three days this weekend. Allen returns home on Sunday afternoon to face the Tulsa Oilers.

The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the Seattle Kraken (NHL), lost a heartbreaker in overtime 6-5 to the Toledo Walleye on Saturday night, ending the Americans three-game winning streak. The Americans battled back late in the third period to tie the score at 5-5 with goals from Spencer Asuchak (24), his second of the night, and Josh Winquist (11). The game would end on a controversial goal. It appeared that the Walleye interfered with goalie Luke Peressini, on Brandon Hawkins hat trick goal in overtime. The officials reviewed the goal and awarded it to Hawkins ending the game and the Americans all-time winning streak over Toledo (2-0-1). Jack Combs had a goal and an assist on Saturday to collect the 599th and 600th points of his professional career. His 20th goal in the first period was number 599, and the assist on Asuchak’s second period power play goal was number 600. Game 3 of the weekend series is Sunday afternoon at 4:15 pm CST. The Americans pregame show gets underway at 3:45 pm. Tulsa, Oklahoma – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the Seattle Kraken, (NHL), defeated the Tulsa Oilers on Friday night by a score of 5-1 at the BOK Center in Tulsa. Chad Costello had a goal and an assist on the night. His 24th of the season was the game winner for Allen as he collected his 60th and 61st points of the season. “We got an early jump on these guys and that really pushed us to victory,” said Americans Co Captain Chad Costello. “We have three lines that can score and that really causes problems for our opponent. We know how important every game is to our playoff hopes and tonight was a great start to the weekend.” JD Dudek (5), Kris Myllari (7), Josh Winquist (6) and Spencer Asuchak (19) all scored for the Americans, who improved to two games over the 500 mark. Luke Peressini, who finished runner up for ECHL Goalie of the week this past week stopped 38 shots to pick up his fifth win of the season. Game 2 of the two-game weekend series is Saturday night from the BOK Center in Tulsa.

The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliates of the Seattle Kraken, dropped the final game of the homestand, 3-1 to the Kansas City Mavericks on Friday night in Allen. A tough defensive struggle would favor Kansas City late in the first when Ryan Olsen put a one-timer in the back of the net in the final minute of the first period. The Americans struggled to stay out of the penalty box as the home team would commit four penalties in the second period, that included a game misconduct by Darian Skeoch. The Americans would get on the board midway through the third period when Chad Costello (19) snuck a rebound off the board to strike on the powerplay. His 400th career point with the Americans. As the game reached its climax, it appeared the Americans had scored a late, game-tying goal, however it would be disallowed due to goalie interference. The Mavericks would add one more as Ryan Harrison scored on an empty net to secure the game for Kansas City. A chippy series ended with a massive amount of penalties, as both teams recorded eight power play opportunities. Along with those power play opportunities, Allen and Kansas City combined for over eighty minutes of penalty minutes in the game. The Americans will travel to face the Kansas City Mavericks Tuesday & Wednesday night at the Cable Dahmer Arena before heading to Wichita.

The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the Seattle Kraken (NHL), defeated the Newfoundland Growlers on Sunday afternoon 4-2, sweeping the three-game weekend series in front of 2,170 fans in Allen. Rookie netminder Luke Peressini made his Allen debut stopping 35 shots in the Americans victory. Peressini had the second assist on Chad Costello’s empty-net goal, collecting his first professional win and first pro point. “I was nervous out there for sure,” said Peressini, following the game. It’s tough walking into a new room not knowing many of the guys and then going out and trying to help the team get the win. The boys played hard in front of me and helped secure the victory. It was a long airplane ride from Boston. I’ll sleep well tonight.” Jackson Leppard, Tyler Poulsen, Chad Costello, and Kris Myllari provided the Americans offense on Sunday afternoon. Kris Myllari’s goal was the game winner for the Americans. He has four goals on the season, and all four have been game winners. “It was a team effort this afternoon” noted Myllari. “This was a big weekend for us. We just swept one of the best teams in the league. A weekend like this goes a long way.” After going without a power play opportunity on Saturday night, the Americans had five on Sunday afternoon going 1-for-5. The Americans continue the homestand next Wednesday night against division rival the Wichita Thunder at 7:05 p.m.

The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the Seattle Kraken (NHL), defeated the Newfoundland Growlers 3-2 on Friday night in Allen in the first-ever meeting between the two teams. The Americans made the most of their special teams opportunities. Jack Combs scored twice on Friday, once on the power play and once shorthanded. “It was nice to put a game like this together,” noted Combs, as he joined the Americans broadcast following the game. “We started out slow tonight but picked up our game halfway through the opening period. The shorthanded goal really gave our bench energy. This was a good team that we beat tonight. It will give our room confidence heading into Saturday.” Branden Troock had the other goal on Friday for Allen. Troock took a pass from Phil Beaulieu and worked his way in front of the Growlers defense for what turned out to be the game winning goal for the Americans with his 13th of the season. Spencer Asuchak made his return to the Americans lineup on Friday night after being sent back Allen from Charlotte. Asuchak had an assist and five shots on net in the Allen win. “It felt good to get back in the lineup tonight,” said Asuchak. “It’s always nice to test your game at the next level, but there is nothing like coming home. A big win for the boys. “ The Americans outshot the shorthanded Growlers 35-24 for the game. Jack Combs led the Americans in shots on net with seven. The Americans and Growlers resume their three-game weekend series tomorrow night on Star Wars night at 7:05 pm.
