Michigan found themselves pushed up against a wall late in the game on the road at Happy Valley. After Penn State scored the game-tying touchdown, 2-point conversion, and the go-ahead field goal midway through the fourth quarter, Cade McNamara had the ball in his hands with an opportunity to prove the “Michigan loses those tough road games” narrative doesn’t have to remain that way. McNamara found Erick All on a rub route and the game's final score was from the sprinting tight end down the sideline. In this episode, I look at all offensive positive games. Hassan Haskins, who picked up 156 yards on 31 carries, is featured heavily and for many reasons. Though the run blocking generally was solid in this game, Haskins had crucial yards after contact time and time again to continue drives. Overall, the offensive effort was impressive despite the slow start. Let’s dive into the film and figure it out. Michigan out-skilled, out-sized, and simply out-played the Panthers of Prairie View A&M on Saturday night. The Wolverines had success in just about all facets of the game, getting involvement from the usual contributors like Eli Brooks, Hunter Dickinson, as well as success from newcomers Devonte Jones & Caleb Houstan. Juwan Howard played with a flurry of different line-up combinations, resulting in true freshman Kobe Bufkin getting extended play, resulting in an 8 point performance. Though a bit quieter than his first couple performances, fellow true freshman Moussa Diabate had another stand-out defensive performance and showed his strength on the boards, picking up 8 rebounds on the day. This Michigan basketball 88-76 victory over Buffalo was the story of the pair of Williams players. Heading into this season, it was expected that Terrance Williams II would be filling an elevated role. He proved that to be the case against the MAC-favorite Buffalo with a 15 point performance, second highest on the team. He added a team high 8 rebounds against the Bulls, who was amongst the best rebounding programs in the NCAA last year. Who was the second Williams in this game? If you don’t know the name Jeenathan Williams, you may hear his name mentioned in some awards ceremonies later this season. Putting up a career high 32 points, there was a stretch in the second half where he looked practically unstoppable. Only when the aforementioned Williams of the Wolverines stepped in did things turn in Michigan’s favor in slowing him down. In this video, I go through the game highlights, break down a few plays, and give some of my key takeaways from the Wolverines victory Wednesday evening. Let me know your favorite play from the game and what you expect moving forward. --- Not a subscriber to The Maize and Blue Review? Sign up today! The Michigan Wolverines picked up a comfortable 87-54 victory over Wayne State in the first live-action game in front of fans. Despite 17 turnovers and a couple stretches where Wayne State had extended runs against the Wolverines, Michigan put together a 21-0 flurry towards the end of the first half to build a large margin and put the game away early. It was the first time fans got to sneak a peak at true freshmen five-star players Caleb Houstan and Moussa Diabate in a Michigan uniform. Despite Houston starting and having a solid outing, Diabate's tantalizing talent stole the show. With a team-high 14 points, the towering freshman showed there's substance to the offseason chatter within the program ahead of this season. In this video, I take a look at the highlights, break down some key plays, and give some key takeaways moving forward into next week's match-up against Buffalo. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below and what your favorite play of the game was. Twitter: @MaizeBlueReview @StephenToski #MichiganWolverines #MichiganBasketball #BasketballAnalysis
