Thank goodness for Michigan Football, am I right? You know the world is upside down when we’re 8 games into the basketball season and I’m typing that sentence. The Michigan Wolverines were handed a blowout loss on their travels out of North Carolina as the Tar Heels took it to Michigan by a score of 72-51. You point in just about every direction other than Moussa Diabate for the Wolverines and you will find a problem with this team. The three point shooting, though it actually improved this week to 31.6%, fails to threaten defenses. Turnovers remain a problem, amassing 13 total with poor transition defense, to boot. Add in a tough game from Dickinson (4 points) and Jones (4 points), who also combined for 6 turnovers between the two. A lack of cohesion from the offense, overall, is extremely worrying and there are little signs of major corrections there despite the evident talent across the roster. Time is running out until Big Ten play, and answers need to arrive quickly before we’re staring down a scary season for the Wolverines. Now THAT's what I call a good time! The Michigan Wolverines thoroughly dominated the Ohio State Buckeyes this past weekend to the tune of 42-27 on a snowy Ann Arbor afternoon. It’s honestly rare for me to have to cut down that many positive offensive plays from a game. Usually I have a selection of 20 or so that I get down to 15 plays to analyze. I had to cut down from 29 plays for this one. If I wasn’t strapped for time, I would have analyzed every damn one of those 29 plays, as well. But alas, time is of the essence and I chose a mix of some big passes from Cade McNamara, some key runs on the edge from Blake Corum & AJ Henning, and then a healthy dose of Hassan Haskins doing his thing. The sheer consistency of the entire offensive unit was nothing short of exceptional, putting together one of the better Wolverine offensive performances I’ve ever seen from a sheer execution standpoint. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a thrashing of some Buckeyes. Let me know your thoughts on the analysis and check out some additional plays exclusive to Wolverine Den members. See you there! #MichiganFootball #MichiganVsOhioState #MichiganAnalysis Twitter: @MaizeBlueReview @StephenToski

It was always a matter of “when” rather than “if” when it came to Michigan’s Moussa Diabate. The 6’11 French transplant oozes talent in just about every facet of the game and still has a ton of potential to realize. In a late-night game against the Runnin’ Rebels of UNLV, Diabate made another jump towards that tall, tall ceiling of his. Whether in the form of a thunderous block or a posterizing dunk against a hapless defender in transition, his presence is being felt. By the end of the game, the freshman put up 14 points on 6-7 shooting, adding 7 rebounds and a pair of blocks. Overall, the dominance from Diabate helped keep Michigan relatively comfortable throughout the night. UNLV had strong performances from a trio of players: Bryce Hamilton (21 points), Donovan Williams (12 points), and Michael Nuga (12 points). Hitting tough, contested shots, UNLV was able to stick around with the Wolverines with a flurry of buckets at the end of the half. However, solid defense down the stretch and continued solid play from Brooks and Dickinson proved to be too much for the outmatched UNLV squad. A solid win for Michigan, who moves on to play Arizona Sunday night at 12:30am, for whatever reason. Michigan had their hands full on Tuesday night. Seton Hall came into Ann Arbor with a shot-blocking, three-point shooting unit that posed a unique challenge for the Wolverines. Seton Hall was able to consistently hit from mid-range, and some defensive lapses from Michigan aided in some open looks from deep. Despite this and a stretch of 11 straight misses for Michigan, the Wolverines still held a slight lead into the second half. Then, Michigan’s poor three-point shooting caught up with them. The Wolverines made their first triple just before hitting the halfway point in the second half, despite many great looks. Down the stretch, Michigan found themselves in foul trouble, with Devonte Jones making a few critical fouls to give Seton Hall a few trips to the free throw line that would prove to be the difference in this one. Terrance Williams had a shot to close the 2-point gap at the end of the game with a pair of free throws, but couldn’t find the bottom of the net.
