What a great start to the New Year. Oxford put basement boys Burton Albion to the sword this afternoon and smashed in 5 goals. It finished Burton Albion 1-5 Oxford United. An ecstatic Ian & Thomas from VBO give their review of this fantastic result and performance. Taylor set Utd on their way early, 2 for Shodipo and 2 for Ruffles gave Oxford their best win of the season. It’s also meant Karl Robinson's side move to mid table after their 4th win in a row. 4 wins in a row for Oxford United and the poor form from the early part of the season looks a lifetime ago. Unwards and Upwards for 2021, but shame we have to wait so long for the next game. Oxford United 2-0 AFC Wimbledon | UNITED MAKE IT 2 WINS IN A ROW!!
Hope you had a good Christmas VBO fans, Boxing Days is always a special day on the football calendar, andthis proved to be a good one for Oxford Utd as they struck early and battled hard to make it 2 wins in a row for the first time this season. The game finsihed Oxford United 2-0 AFC Wimbledon. Oxford went 2 nil up early with goals from Jordan Obita and Matty Taylor, both were well worked and good finishes, but after that AFC Wimbledon piled on the pressure and pushed Oxford really hard for a way back into the game. Oxford needed good defernding and some luck to see out the win, but any Oxford fans should be proud of the way they battled. Jack Stevens was exceptional and carry's on his fine form. 1 goal conceded now in 5 games, and OUFC are looking up instead of down now. Blackpool 0-0 Oxford United | Review | RUBBISH GAME! BUT HAPPY WITH THE POINT
The latest instalment in Oxford's season takes them up to the Pleasure Beach to play Blackpool. This was not a pleasurable game and was instantly forgettable as it ended Blackpool 0-0 Oxford United. Ian and Tom pick the bones out of this turgid affair. Oxford look better at the back, but really did not look a threat in this game, but for a couple of late chances. Hamilton for Blackpool hit the bar and the post, but this was no fun by the seaside. Sam Long had a decent game, and the lesser spotted Jamie Hanson got an outing too. The draw keeps both sides form in tact, and Oxford climb out of the relegation zone as a result, but would it kill them to put a win on the board. Oxford United 1-1 Hull City | Review | TOUGH GAME BUT A GOOD POINT
After the horror show ending last week and the somewhat disappointing result against Ipswich Oxford welcomed League Leader Hull City to the Kassam Stadium with OUFC looking for a Christmas Miracle. Fans being back in the stands made this game seem like a proper game of football and both sides put in a good display but neither side could win. It finished Oxford United 1 -1 Hull City. Oxford took the lead early with James Henry and really tried to pressure Hull buoyed on by the 1000 yellows fans in the stadium. Hull are top for a reason, and showed their class and found and equaliser in the 2nd half. I really tough game but a hard-fought point which I think (with my yellow glasses on) that Oxford deserved. Football feels like it is slowly coming back now. Oxford United 1-2 Swindon Town | Review | SHOCKING END!! DERBY STREAK OVER
A shocking end is putting it mildly as Swindon ended the hoodoo and the derby streak is over. Its finished Oxford United 1-2 Swindon Town. After a great first half by the yellows they led through Matty Taylors goal and the only thing missing was that 2nd goal, and oh boy did they need it was a woeful 2nd half performance saw Swindon come back to pinch it late. Utd got worse as the 2nd half went on and invited the pressure on themselves, but the goals were avoidable and came down to a lack of concentration and pressure. The winning goal is laughably bad and one which opens up the Eastwood debate again. Swindon get the bragging rights, so well done to them. Oxford......... need a reaction as this is the sort of performance which makes the fans lose faith. Portsmouth 1-1 Oxford United | Review | Was this a Repeat of the Playoffs?
So finally, Oxford go a goal down in a game and get something out if it. It does seem that we are destined to do this against Pompey every game now who must be sick of the sight of Oxford. The game finished Portsmouth 1 - 1 Oxford United. So, a decent game by both sides and both will feel they could have won it, but just like in all the games last season it finishes in a draw. Pompey went ahead early, but Oxford got an equaliser from the spot from Alex Gorrin who scored his first goal for OUFC. Gorrin's First Oxford Utd goal came from a wonderful run from Centre Back Rob Atkinson who looks better each game. Credit to Karl Robinson too for the changes he made and for the subs during the game, Whisper it quietly but there may be some momentum. ALSO SWINDON ARE NEXT!!!. Oxford United 1-2 Peterborough United | Oxford Review | Out The Cup But Not Too Bothered
Oxford United bowed out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle today. They lost to Peterborough for the 2nd time this season. It Finished. Oxford United 1-2 Peterborough United. It was a tight game that could have gone either way, but as usual Oxford came out on the wrong side of it. Both sides were much changed and Ian is left scratching his head at what Robinson has done to Dan Agyei. Not too upset to be out as it clears some space in the fixture list.
