Life After Rugby Webinar: Bryan Habana and David Pocock
The Africa Society of Singapore and South African Chamber of Commerce Singapore celebrated the great rugby rivalry between the British and Irish Lions and the rugby nations of South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia! We hosted a charity webinar event with former professional rugby players, Bryan Habana and David Pocock from South Africa and Australia as our guest speakers. They shared some of their on-field rugby experiences, life after professional rugby, and the challenges and successes during this career transition. We also hosted a live and online auction and managed to raise S$18 000 in support of David and Bryan's charities: - The Rangelands Restoration Trust (http://www.davidpocock.com/rrt2020), founded by David Pocock, works to restore ecosystems and partner with people who depend on them to improve their livelihoods. Fortunately, there is now sufficient evidence to be more confident in making recommendations regarding return to recreational and commercial diving after recovering from COVID-19. The recommendations contained in one of the articles (Sadler) forms the basis of the talk and offers guidance on return to diving based on the severity of the illness. PLEASE NOTE: The talk will not be addressing vaccination, immune therapy or remedies used in the treatment of COVID. GUEST SPEAKER Dr Frans Cronje is the founder of DAN Southern Africa, former President and CEO and a medical doctor with a passion for dive medicine.
Pac-12 LGBTQIA+ Pride Educational Webinar
To celebrate Pride Month, the Pac-12 Networks hosted a webinar with Pac-12 coaches, alumni, and student-athletes who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. The Webinar was hosted by Pac-12 Networks' Yogi Roth and panelists included: Stanford basketball alum Jason Collins, who was the first openly-gay player in any of the major four American sports leagues; Arizona men's swimming and diving's Eric Correa; Washington Track and Field's Devan Kirk, UCLA Softball coach Kirk Walker, Washington State women's rowing coach Sam Clifford, California lacrosse coach Denise Wescott, and Dr. Eric Lushen of LGBT SportSafe.
