Tour de France Stage 2 Highlights | A New Man In Yellow!
Day two will see the puncheurs go toe-to-toe once again, this time on a ramp that has made an appearance at three of the last 10 editions of the Tour - the infamous Mûr-de-Bretagne. It’s not quite as long as the previous day’s climb to the line, at just 2km, but with an average gradient of 7% and leg-breaking 12% ramps near its base, the Mûr is a lot tougher and could even bring some explosive climbers, like Pogačar, Roglič and Carapaz, into the mix. La course débuta par une étape qui, à première vue, semblait être une occasion parfaite pour un sprinter de prendre le jaune. Mais si vous regardez de plus près le profil des dénivelés, vous constaterez qu'il n'y a pas une seule route plate en vue entre Brest et Landerneau. Sur les 198 km du parcours, les coureurs ont du faire face à 3 200 m de dénivelé et à pas moins de six rampes classées, un réveil plutôt brutal pour une course qui démarre habituellement en douceur. Tour de France Stage 1 Highlights | Crashes, Chaos & An Epic Final Climb!
The race kicked off with a stage that, looked like a perfect opportunity for a rider like Julian Alaphilippe or Mathieu Van Der Poel to take yellow. The elevation profile shows that there isn’t a flat road in sight between Brest and Landerneau on this testing first stage. Over the course of the 198km-long route the riders will be faced with 3,200m of climbing and no less than six categorised ramps - a rather rude awakening to a race that’s known for easing riders in slowly.
