Stage 3 has a deceptive sting in its tail, but before the riders uncover this hidden menace in the hills around Le Menoux they’ll first have to battle the crosswinds which are forecast to rip through the peloton in the first 100km. After the previous day’s ‘war in the winds’, several teams will start this stage battered and bruised with survival their only aim. Others will be looking to build on their victories from 24 hours before and go in for the kill. El “Col de Buire” con 6,6 kilómetros al 3,5 por ciento, tiene un doble paso en los kilómetros 47 y 107. Tras un largo y tendido descenso viene un sprint bonificable antes de ascender un pequeño repecho. Y el desafió final se encuentra en la cima de la “Montagne de lure” con 13,4 kilómetros de longitud al 6,5 por ciento de desnivel promedio. En la fuga del día se han involucrado 5 ciclistas. El británico Luke Rowe del Ineos, junto a los franceses Romain Combaud del team DSM, Nicolas Debeaumarché del saint Michel Auber, Jonathan Couanon del Nice Metropole, y Alexis Gougeard del B&B hotels, quien el dia anterior también estuvo en la escapada y sumó unidades importantes en la clasificación de la montaña. Al primero de los pasos por el col de Buire la fuga ha tomado una ventaja importante con respecto al grueso del lote que persigue. Casi seis minutos es la diferencia que han tomado los cinco hombres, en donde Luke Rowe es el mejor ubicado en la general a 6:19 de su compañero Filippo Ganna. Durante casi toda la etapa el Arkea samsic y el groupama FDJ son los equipos encargados de liderar la persecución y marcar el ritmo del paquete. Miguel Flores se ha consumido gran parte del kilometraje poniéndose al frente para trabajar en favor de su líder Nairo Quintana. Comienza el ascenso a la montagne de lur y ahí empiezan a organizarse los equipos para la batalla final, los corredores de la fuga sienten pasos de animal grande con el recorte de tiempo que ha hecho el lote, a 13 de meta la diferencia entre punteros y perseguidores se ha reducido a un minuto. Y es precisamente en este terreno donde la escapada empieza a perder consistencia. El ascenso al puerto cobra las fuerzas de cada uno de los fugados quienes a medida que ascienden los metros van quedando dispersos en la carretera. Solamente Romain Combaud se resiste a ser capturado y mantiene su esfuerzo individual en punta de carrera. Durante la subida son los ciclistas del groupama los que se encargan de ponerse al frente para marcar el ritmo y trabajarle a su líder Michael Storer, TotalEnergies de Pierre Latour se alterna la cabeza para mantener el esfuerzo, también viajan en el reducido grupo de 20 corredores los arkea con Nairo Quintana, 3 movistar con Iván Sosa, y todo el Quickstep protegiendo a Julian Alaphilippe, junto al líder Filippo Ganna que lucha y se resiste a perder su camiseta. A 5 de meta precisamente los del wolfpack toman el relevo en la punta y en ese momento logran la neutralización de Combaud, que hasta ese momento era el único ciclista en cabeza de carrera. Momento crucial de la etapa. Arkea Samsic abre el camino para su líder estableciéndose en el frente del grupo. A 4,4 kilómetros ATACA NAIRO y el campeón del mundo se adhiere a su rueda. Los dos corredores abren brecha de algunos metros y durante un corto tramo se alternan el paso dando pequeños relevos. También del pelotón salta Iván Sosa tratando de integrarse a la fiesta A 3 y medio kilómetros Quintana le cambia nuevamente el ritmo a Julian Alaphilippe quien esta vez no puede seguir el paso del boyacense. El reloj empieza a jugar un papel esencial en las aspiraciones de Nairo, pues debe tomarle al menos 30 segundos de diferencia al francés si quiere quedarse con el título. Iván Ramiro Sosa se une a Julian en la persecución y le acompaña por unos momentos. También tiene piernas para seguir de largo y se va en busca de dar caza a su compatriota. Alaphilippe no tiene más remedio que regular un poco la marcha para esperar a alguno de sus compañeros le de una mano. Uniéndose a un pequeño tren que trae a Van Wilder del quickstep, Mattias Skjelmose del trek y Matteo Jorgenson. Nairo Quintana entra en el último kilómetro sabiendo que tiene la etapa en sus manos, pues por el radio le han avisado que sus perseguidores vienen bastante distanciados. Ahora el objetivo es seguir manteniendo un paso fuerte para incrementar la renta de segundos sobre Alaphilippe. Brad Binder mencatatkan waktu 1 menit 31,814 detik. Hingga pukul 15.00 WIB, catatan waktu Brad Binder belum tersentuh. Sementara itu, di posisi kedua ada Fabio Quartararo. Pebalap Monster Energy Yamaha itu hanya selisih waktu 0,006 detik dari Brad Binder. Di tengah meningkat pesatnya penampilan sejumlah pebalap, Marc Marquez dari Repsol Honda justru tercecer ke posisi 12. Ia mencatatkan waktu 1 menit 32,414 detik. In Sep 2020, my wife Tori and I traveled to Québec’s Gaspé region In search of adventure. After poling the Bonaventure River and fly casting for Atlantic Salmon, we headed to Forillion National Park where we picked up the Appalachian Trail. Our plan was to follow it through the mountains to the Land’s End which is the very tip of the Gaspé Peninsula. This was a multi-day backpacking trek, a thorough hike to cross the National Park. Land's End is also the very end, (or the very beginning) of the International Appalachian Trail which starts in the state of Georgia. Moose, Black Bear, Seals, and Whales are all common sightings from the trail which also provides a multitude of oceanic views. The far-away and fabulous corner of the Karoo where the Eastern Cape, Northern Cape and Free State cosy up to each other utterly blows my mind. This oft-forgotten piece of South Africa is a space where wasteland and heartland collide, fusing a rich history which is unfortunately being eroded – slowly, but surely – by urbanisation, rural neglect and the economic collapse so typical of the platteland. A ghost town – with an Olympic-sized pool – decays in the shadow of #Teebus Peak; Paul Kruger’s old house lies locked and forgotten off the R53; the Bulhoek Pass is pot-holed, overgrown and closed to regular traffic; Steynsburg has the post-apocalyptic feel of a dorp from one of Deon Meyer’s novels … And yet, the area brims with heart-warming richness and diversity… Characters – like Oom Charles (ask him about his gunshot wound) – are larger than life, and country hospitality overwhelms you around every corner. What’s more, the Trek2Teebus route and landscape promise to blow your mind. It is a ‘Country Crank’ on remote tracks and farm roads tripping beyond the Teebus and Koffiebus kopjes looming up from golden swathes of savanna grassland. You will be in your element as you weave amidst nguni cattle or meander through endless fields of mauve irises. This is mountain biking heaven, and you need to lay tracks here if you event want to begin to understand the attraction of this wonderful space. As an Eastern Cape son, to me it was like coming home, I suppose. The Baviaans River Conservancy where I grew up is but a couple of hours away, and I felt like a 58yr old kid let loose within a familiar outdoor playground. Rooigras seeds in your socks, the Lego jumble of ysterklip koppies, the whistle of wild rhebuck in the highland ridges, the smell of the fertile red soil … it all felt comfortably familiar. Backpack hiking deep into the woods to one of my favorite lakes, we found a camping spot tucked into the forest trees. After settling in, we went down to the water and started hooking splake (mackinaw brook hybrid) and cutbow (cuttthroat rainbow hybrid). Luck would have it, catching several thick ones and then cooking them for dinner that night. The next day was special, with my great nephew landing the biggest one of his young life. We deep fried it—yum! More Venturing Overnight was wonderful. My brother and great nephew left the mountains and headed home, and my nephew and I backpacked to a tiny high altitude lake where we set up our tents. We arose to a crisp morning, hopeful for some personal best brook trout, which this pond delivered. That evening was an amazing all-you-can-eat fish-fry. Rising with the sun, we ate the rest of the massive wigglers before our hike. My nephew headed home, and I continued alone on a remote secret trail to explore fresh territory. The new country was pristine. I set up my tent in an open meadow that looked like mountain paradise. Morning couldn't come soon enough, with magnificent scenery to be videoed as well as a small meandering creek with hungry occupants. The big Colorado cuts were just out of spawn, having a striking crimson color, and the brookies had spunk and girth. What a superb time, topped off by eating a delicious meal. Solo Exploration and Meeting a Friend Up at dawn and trekking to a mystery place, which will remain so for its survival. Along the way, I met my friend who joined me. It was a tough trek to these waters, but we took the challenge and made it to this hidden spot. Once there, we eagerly set up and started fishing, hooking a plethora of wild tigers and beautiful cuts with crankbait and dry fly. These were some of the most unbelievable moments, landing a bunch of epic trophy tigers and a huge one for the history books! Home to both the Texas Tech men’s and women’s basketball programs, this $32.2M, state-of-the-art facility is now a day-to-day home for player development and strength and conditioning workouts and expands over 59,000 square feet. The new facility also places great emphasis on the latest and greatest in technology with a little less than 100 television/video monitors throughout the facility, including an enormous video board in both practice gyms.
