RESUMEN 5 ETAPA TOUR de FRANCIA 2022 Tadej POGACAR EXHIBICION EN PAVÉ NAIRO Quintana MAJESTUOSO TOUR de FRANCIA 2022 La primera mitad de carrera fue relativamente tranquila, con una fuga más numerosa que en días previos abriendo camino. No faltó a su cita el danés Magnus Cort Nielsen (EF), uno de los primeros en intentar formar un corte, pese a no haber ninguna cota puntuable en esta temida jornada adoquinada. Junto a Edvald Boasson Hagen (TotalEnergies) y Taco Van der Hoorn (Intermarché) formó un primer terceto al que se unieron posteriormente Neilson Powless (EF), Simon Clarke (Israel) y Alexis Gougeard (B&B). Sí se produjeron algunos pinchazos, afectando al líder del Bora, Aleksandr Vlasov, que regresaba al grupo en el terreno llano previo al siguiente sector adoquinado. Quien sí quedaba eliminado de la pelea era el francés Anthony Turgis, tras sufrir una caída en la parte trasera del grupo varios kilómetros después. Quick-Step quiso imprimir más dureza en el segundo tramo, con Kasper Asgreen y Mikkel Honoré acelerando sobre las piedras y formando los primeros cortes. A Van Aert parecía pasarle factura la caída, rodando a cola de un pelotón en el que ya no figuraba el eslovaco Peter Sagan. De los favoritos a la general, un nuevo afectado por los temidos pinchazos era Ben O’Connor (AG2R), que cedía hasta un minuto en el momento decisivo de la carrera. Pese a las malas sensaciones de su líder, el Jumbo-Visma volvió a tomar la cabeza del pelotón en la entrada del cuarto tramo, aunque en esta ocasión Pogacar sí se encontraba bien soldado a su rueda. A poco más de una hora para llegar a meta, los fugados mantenían más de dos minutos de ventaja, gracias al buen trabajo de varios especialistas. Otro favorito para el triunfo de etapa como Mathieu Van der Poel también desconectaba pronto de la pelea, descolgándose junto a Pinot o Jakobsen. Nils Politt tomaba el relevo en el grupo en el sexto tramo y complicaba las cosas para Jonas Vingegaard. El danés sufría un pinchazo y cambiaba hasta tres veces de bicicleta, al no adaptarse correctamente por talla al de aquellas prestadas por sus compañeros Van Hooydonck y Kruiswijk. Tampoco era un buen momento para el español Enric Mas, que se veía distanciado del grupo de favoritos junto a Daniel Felipe Martínez. Los problemas se acrecentarían aún más en el seno del equipo Jumbo. Van Aert y Benoot decidían parar para esperar a Vingegaard y poco después Primoz Roglic se iba al suelo junto a Caleb Ewan o Brandon MCnulty. El esloveno golpeaba con una bala de paja que señalizaba el trazado a la salida de una rotonda pero que se encontraba mal colocada. Sin el equipo amarillo al frente, muchos corredores lo probaron por su cuenta en el séptimo sector, con el propio Pogacar lanzando un primer ataque. Roglic quedaba en tierra de nadie, detrás del grupo de Vingegaard, aunque con varios compañeros ayudándole. Por delante, los otros Jumbo alcanzaban a Enric Mas y a varios INEOS como Geraint Thomas o Adam Yates. En el primer grupo de favoritos, donde apenas resistían quince ciclistas, además de Pogacar, destacaba la presencia de Quintana, Vlasov, Caruso o Fuglsang, como principales aspirantes al triunfo final en París. Todos ellos resistían el ritmo del Bora, que entraba con mucha fuerza en los tramos de cuatro estrellas, los más exigentes de la etapa. Pogacar no quiso esperar más y, junto a Jasper Stuyven, pisó el acelerador. Nadie pudo seguirles e incluso Florian Vermeersch golpeó contra el suelo a la salida de una curva cuando apuraba para tratar de contactar. A todo esto, aún resistían por delante cinco fugados, todos los iniciales, menos el francés Gougeard, viendo que podrían jugarse el triunfo de etapa, ya que Stuyven y Pogacar no lograron acercarse a ellos. Quienes sí lograron finalizar su persecución particular fueron los INEOS y parte del Jumbo, algo de lo que se benefició el Movistar. Vingegaard, Yates o Martínez alcanzaron al grupo de Vlasov y Quintana, donde se había producido un parón tras el movimiento del vigente campeón de la carrera. Las miradas se centraban entonces en la resolución de la etapa. Cort Nielsen pagaba el trabajo de los días previos y no podía seguir a sus compañeros de escapada en el último tramo de pavés. Los cuatro ciclistas restantes tenían pocas fuerzas ya y Powless lo aprovechó para atacar antes de la pancarta del último kilómetro. Tras mirarse en un primer momento, Boasson Hagen se sacrificó en primera persona, pensando en la posibilidad de vestirse de líder. Van der Hoorn y Clarke gestionaron mejor las fuerzas y el australiano logró el triunfo en la photo finish. El ya numeroso grupo perseguidor consiguió ceder solo 13 segundos con Pogacar, siendo Roglic el más perjudicado, entrando a dos minutos de la mayoría de sus rivales. Esta aceleración final del grupo de favoritos permitió además a Van Aert salvar el maillot amarillo a pesar de sacrificarse por sus compañeros, quedándose Powless y Boasson Hagen a escasos segundos de dicho premio.
