Meciul a fost întrerupt în minutul 3, după ce galeriile ambelor echipe au aruncat petarde şi fumigene pe teren, iar scandalul a luat amploare. Fanii FCSB au provocat galeriile Rapidului, s-au bătut între ei, iar rapidiştii s-au bătut după şi cu jandarmii. Unul dintre suporterii fiind la un pas să cadă peste balustrada de la nivelul 3 al stadionului. De asemenea, au existat incidente şi înainte de partidă.
