French driver Stรฉphane Lefebvre, competing for Abu Dhabi Racing with technical support from Citroรซn, suffered a major crash during the stage. His Citroรซn DS3 WRC came into the service park with its entire rear end and lower suspension mangled almost beyond recognition. Under WRC regulations, the allowed mid-event service time is just 30 minutes. Fail to get the car running within that window, and it's instant disqualification โ about as dire as it gets. Without hesitation, dozens of veteran Citroรซn Racing mechanics took heavy hammers to the chassis, beating out the dents, realigning the panels, and rebuilding the core suspension components from the ground up. Hitting the 30-minute limit almost to the second, the rally car roared back out onto the course. Watching the crew work in perfect sync is proof that motorsport is never a race run by the driver alone โ it's a great sport where the entire team runs alongside, pouring out blood and sweat where no one can see.
