The St. Louis Cardinals catcher is quietly one of the hottest hitters in the National League right now and almost nobody outside of St. Louis is talking about it. Over his last 22 games he's slashing .288/.430/.525 with a .955 OPS — all four of his season HRs have come in this stretch. He has a 22-game on-base streak, the 4th longest active in all of MLB and the longest by any Cardinal this season. His Statcast profile backs every bit of it — 90.2 mph avg exit velocity, 45.5% hard-hit rate, .379 wOBA and .373 xwOBA nearly perfectly aligned. In 2025 he became the first catcher in Cardinals franchise history to hit three homers in a single game — a three-HR, six-RBI explosion. The 25-year-old from Panama signed with the Cardinals for $7,500 as an international free agent in 2016 and is now one of the best catchers in the NL.
