McLaren Admit They’re “Disappointed” In Ricciardo’s “Difficult” Transition
McLaren’s two drivers are having contrasting seasons so far. Lando Norris is fourth in the championship and has already scored three podiums in the first 9 races. Daniel Ricciardo in comparison is eighth and sixth is the best position he has finished in a race so far. And [Lewis Hamilton is] in the hunt again” “If we look at Baku and the potential, and look at the other races, overall, we need to up our game, make less mistakes, and continue to understand the car better and then we are massively in the hunt”, Wolff suggested F1’s managing director Ross Brawn is “nervous, but that's normal. [He thinks they've] put a lot of work into organising sprint qualifying, so there's a good chance of success” “[They] need to get the fans involved and make sure [they] have a race that really fascinates them. Alpine’s Esteban Ocon has had an interesting F1 career so far. At one point, he was even left without a seat in the sport but he is now in his second year with his current team. As a former member of Mercedes’ driver program, he was at one point seen as one of the drivers being groomed to drive for Mercedes in the future. However, that role has now been assumed by Williams’ George Russell. Max Verstappen kwam in Portimão als tweede over de finish en kon na afloop rekenen op wat flinke kritiek van Nico Rosberg. Lewis Hamilton gaf op zijn beurt toe dat hij Verstappen tegen het einde van het seizoen wel eens zat kan worden. Daarnaast deed er de afgelopen dagen een interessant gerucht de ronde, volgens de Britse pers overweegt Mercedes namelijk om George Russell dit seizoen nog op de plek van de Fin te zetten.
