Looking at their record, you wouldn’t think the team is anything special, but today I wanna talk about why this team actually is special, and other teams in the league need to keep an eye out for them very soon. So last night the Spurs got a huge win over the current worst team in the league, the Detroit Pistons, as they absolutely manhandled them and beat them by a score of 144-109. Now I think it’s extremely important to note the Detroit Pistons were without a large number of their key rotation players including the 2021 first overall pick Cade Cunningham as well as guys like Isaiah Stewart, Trey Lyles, Cory Joseph and a few others. To give the Spurs credit though, they were without their best player as well as Dejounte Murray as he was in the NBA’s Health and Safety protocols. Nevertheless tho, that win last night meant the Spurs have now won four of their last five and beat teams such as the Lakers, Clippers and Jazz during this five game stretch as well. While this five game stretch has been nice for the Spurs, I think it’s more important to talk about how the team’s played for the entire season thus far. This season the Spurs are either leading or in the top 10 in the league in many different statistical categories. It’s even more impressive when you remember how young this Spurs team really is. Their defense is one area though that the Spurs desperately need to clean up as their opponents shooting high percentages and score a ton of points against them. Back on a positive note for the Spurs tho, the individual play from their players is exactly why this team has a chance to be scary in the coming future. Keldon Johnson, Keita Bates-Diop and Dejounte Murray have all made Spurs franchise history and NBA History the in the team’s previous few games. The team also has 7 guys averaging double digit point totals.
