HIGHLIGHTS | Arsenal vs Brentford (1-1) | Partey | Premier League

Thomas Partey’s goal at the end of a lightning fast counter-attack was not enough to take all three points against Brentford. After a low-key first half, which was in stark contrast to Tuesday night’s drama, we finally went ahead on the hour mark. The move started when David Raya claimed a Brentford corner inside his own six-yard box, and quickly released Declan Rice with a low roll out. Rice stormed forward before finding Partey, who was up from right back to drive home. Brentford levelled though when Yoane Wissa swivelled smartly inside the area to scoop his shot beyond Raya. We couldn’t find the winner after that, and attentions now turn back to the Champions League and our trip to Spain next week. After the euphoria of Tuesday’s 3-0 win over Real Madrid, there was a job to be done in the Premier League, to keep up the pursuit of Liverpool at the top of the table. Rice – fresh from his two incredible free-kicks on Tuesday night – was involved in our first two chances. He laid the ball off to Ethan Nwaneri inside the area who shifted it onto his left foot, but his shot was charged down. Then Rice started a move that resulted in Gabriel Martinelli winning a corner with a near post shot. Aside from that though, there was little incident of note in the opening 20 minutes. Raya was called into action midway through the half, saving with his legs when Kristoffer Ajer broke into the box from right back. We had the ball in the net shortly afterwards, but it was disallowed by the new semi-automated offside system via a VAR review. Nwaneri’s inswinging delivery was inch-perfect, but unfortunately the timing of Kieran Tierney’s run wasn’t. The full back, making his first Premier League start since May 2023, planted his header beyond Mark Flekken, but replays showed he’d drifted offside at the crucial moment. The visitors were arguably lucky not to be a man down when Christian Norgaard dived in with a scissor-challenge on Martinelli. The referee deemed it only worthy of a yellow card. A vital last-ditch block from Ajer kept the match goalless. William Saliba – who was seeing more of the ball than most in forward areas - floated his pass into Martinelli, who took it under his spell wonderfully first time, before getting his shot away. But the Norwegian defender dived in to deny him. The half ended with Leandro Trossard trying his luck from 20 yards. While his left-footed drive didn’t lack power, Flekken was able to push it away for a corner. We took the lead on the hour mark, and it was the result of a simply stunning counter attack. Raya claimed a Brentford corner inside a crowded penalty area and immediately rolled the ball out to Rice. Our midfielder strode forward and turned on the turbo boosters. He carried the ball sixty, seventy yards before slipping a pass to the overlapping Partey who rammed his shot high into the net. From box to box in the blink of an eye. Mikel Arteta sent on Martin Odegaard, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Bukayo Saka in a triple change just afterwards. We looked set to take charge with the Emirates crowd raising the decibel levels again. But it was Brentford who struck back. This time we didn’t clear the danger from a corner, and when the second cross came back in, Nathan Collins headed it down for Wissa to finish well, with his back to goal. It was back to square one, and we had the chance to instantly restore the lead when Saka dispossessed Flekken on the edge of the area. He spent just a fraction too long on the ball though, and he was tackled before he could get his shot away. We had to play the final ten minutes, including injury-time, with just 10 men, as Jorginho went off injured after we’d already made all five subs. Saka went on a mazy run deep in stoppage time in an attempt to find the late winner, but his low cutbacks were twice cut out. #arsenal #premierleague Enjoy highlights, training, behind the scenes and documentaries to get closer to the likes of Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Alessia Russo, Leah Williamson, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Kim Little, Declan Rice, Beth Mead, Gabriel Martinelli, Ben White, Stina Blackstenius and more. HIGHLIGHTS | Arsenal vs Aston Villa (2-2) | Martinelli, Havertz | Premier League

We let a two-goal lead slip and dropped two precious points in our pursuit of Liverpool at the top of the table. We deservedly earned a first-half lead when Gabriel Martinelli stole in to squeeze Leandro Trossard’s cross just over the line, before Trossard again set up our second after the break. Kai Havertz the scorer to put us seemingly in control. But Youri Tielemans headed Aston Villa back into it at the near post before a smart finish from Ollie Watkins off the bar brought the visitors level. Havertz then controversially had a goal disallowed via VAR for an apparent handball late on, before Mikel Merino hit the post, as we were left frustrated at full-time. #arsenal Enjoy highlights, training, behind the scenes and documentaries to get closer to the likes of Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Alessia Russo, Leah Williamson, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Kim Little, Declan Rice, Beth Mead, Gabriel Martinelli, Ben White, Stina Blackstenius and more. BIG COMEBACK! | HIGHLIGHTS | Brentford vs Arsenal (1-3) | Premier League
BIG COMEBACK! | HIGHLIGHTS | Brentford vs Arsenal (1-3) | Premier League

We came from behind to secure an impressive New Year’s Day victory away to Brentford. Bryan Mbeumo fired the hosts into an early lead with their first shot on target, but two poachers’ finishes either side of the interval put us ahead. First Gabriel Jesus headed in after Thomas Partey’s shot was saved, then Mikel Merino was in the right place to prod home from a corner. Gabriel Martinelli with a pure strike made it 3-1, and ensured we started 2025 how we spent much of 2024 – by recording a comfortable away day win. It was the hosts, so strong at home so far this season, who struck first. Having barely been in our half in the opening 10 minutes, Bryan Mbeumo picked up a pass from Mikkel Damsgaard that had looked to have taken him away from goal. But he strode into the area, checked onto his left foot while Riccardo Calafiori backed off, and beat David Raya low down at his near post. It was their first attempt on goal, but the goal clearly lifted their confidence. As we tried to get a foothold back in the game, Jurrien Timber picked up a yellow card that rules him out of the Brighton match on Saturday. Thomas Partey nearly got on the end of a dangerous Martin Odegaard free-kick but was flagged offside anyway. At the other end Keane Lewis-Potter tested Raya with a shot that the former Brentford man had to claw out from on the line after the initial effort squirmed through his grasp. We grabbed the leveller on the half hour. Gabriel Martinelli was challenged on the edge of the area while getting his shot away, and the loose ball fell to Partey. His drive was only parried by Mark Flekken and there was Jesus in the right place to head in the rebound. It was the Brazilian’s sixth goal in his last four appearances. There was little to choose between the sides in the first half. We saw a lot more of the ball, but Brentford got back well in numbers, and many of our attacks fizzled out around the area. Soon after the restart we went ahead, and like the equaliser, it was a real opportunist finish. This time Ethan Nwaneri’s inswinging corner caused confusion and Flekken made a hash of his clearance. Jesus sent his shot goalwards, it was blocked but there was Merino to stab in the loose ball. Within three minutes we had increased our advantage. Once again Nwaneri – making his first Premier League start back at the venue where he broke the record for our youngest debutant – was involved. His cross from the right wasn’t dealt with and this time Martinelli was the man to rifle the dropping ball into the net. A crisp finish from the Brazilian, and he soon set up compatriot Jesus with a run from deep. Raya found Martinelli with a long pass, the winger broke into the area, rolled it into Jesus but his cute finish went just the wrong side of the near post. But we had done enough to inflict on Brentford’s second home defeat this season. The win takes us back up to second with 39 points as we reach the halfway point of the Premier League season, with 19 games played. HIGHLIGHTS | West Ham v Arsenal (2-5) | Premier League | Gabriel, Trossard, Odegaard, Havertz, Saka

We blew away West Ham at the London Stadium, with all of our goals coming in a remarkable opening half. Gabriel got it all started in the 10th minute, with a header from a corner, before Leandro Trossard tapped in our second. Bukayo Saka was brought down inside the area for Martin Odegaard to score from the penalty spot and Kai Havertz raced onto a Trossard pass to make it 4-0 with 10 minutes of the first half remaining. West Ham mustered a comeback with a quickfire double. Aaron Wan-Bissaka scored inside the area and Emerson curled home a free-kick. We were awarded a second penalty in first-half stoppage time, this time scored by Saka, and that settled us down again, allowing us to see out the win in the second-half. #arsenal #bukayosaka #premierleague Enjoy highlights, training, behind the scenes and documentaries to get closer to the likes of Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Alessia Russo, Leah Williamson, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Kim Little, Declan Rice, Beth Mead, Gabriel Martinelli, Ben White, Stina Blackstenius and more. A Hakan Calhanoglu penalty in first half injury time was enough to give Inter a narrow 1-0 victory over the Gunners at the San Siro. Arsenal had some good chances in the second half, but the Inter rearguard stayed first to inflict a first Champions League defeat of the season for Mikel Arteta's men.
