Jarrett Allen gets a HUGE extension, the Guardians host the Orioles & Juan Thornhill's 2024 goals

Cleveland Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen has agreed on a three-year, $91 million maximum contract extension that will guarantee him $131 million over the next five seasons, his agent Derrick Powell told ESPN on Wednesday. Allen is co-represented with Powell by Jim Tanner of Tandem Sports. Allen becomes the third key Cavaliers player -- along with Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley -- to sign massive extensions this summer, solidifying the franchise as a long-term Eastern Conference contender | https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/40690442/cavs-jarrett-allen-agrees-3-year-91m-max-extension When Juan Thornhill got to Cleveland, he had a lot of goals. Among them was one that seemed almost inevitable he'd achieve with his high energy and positive personality: becoming a fan favorite among the Dawg Pound. Over the past year, that goal has become more challenging for him than he may have realized—but the Cleveland Browns' safety isn't giving up just yet as he sets his sights on a healthy, standout season in 2024 | https://www.news5cleveland.com/sports/browns/after-nagging-injury-last-year-browns-s-juan-thornhill-understands-fan-frustration-but-dont-lose-faith Wide receiver Amari Cooper has put together the two best seasons of his NFL career as a member of the Cleveland Browns. After reworking his deal to lock in the guarantees in 2024, Cooper reported to training camp on time after flirting with a holdout as he entered a contract year. Contract aside, there is no doubting what Cooper has meant in Cleveland and what he has done for the Browns. In his first year with the team, Cooper racked up 1,160 yards receiving and nine touchdowns, but even more impressive is what he did a year ago while being asked to adjust to four different quarterbacks. Tallying a career-high in receiving yards, Cooper racked up 1,250 yards and five touchdowns in another Pro Bowl season in 2023 | https://brownswire.usatoday.com/lists/browns-amari-cooper-madden-25-rating-snub/ ******* This episode of the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show is brought to you by BetterHelp. How shocked are you the Cleveland Cavaliers haven't made A SINGLE MOVE in free agency yet?
How shocked are you the Cleveland Cavaliers haven't made A SINGLE MOVE in free agency yet?

The Eastern Conference is getting better, but the Cleveland Cavaliers have yet to make a move to improve its roster. How surprised are you that Koby Altman has been as patient as he has thus far in the offseason and is that the right approach for the Cavs? We’re just over a week into free agency. It’s a good time for the Fear the Sword staff to provide a temperature check on where we feel things stand for the Cleveland Cavaliers. The exercise is simple. We voted on a scale of 1-10 on how much confidence we have in the five categories below and why we think that way. There should be a split on how we view the front office this summer. On the one hand, they’ve taken their victory lap and won the bet of re-signing Donovan Mitchell after staking the bulk of their future on his long-term commitment. Then, they hired Kenny Atkinson and ushered in sweeping changes to the coaching staff. Finally, we can presume an Evan Mobley extension is on the way – securing one of the best defenders in the NBA at just 23 years old and setting the stage for Cleveland’s foreseeable future. Conversely, there is growing unease at the general lack of activity from Koby Altman. The Cavs have stood idle through the start of summer while other teams, notably the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks, have upped the ante by acquiring new talent. The front office is doubling down on its commitment to the core, in a move that could be just as risky as shuffling the deck. This summer will likely be the defining moment of Altman’s tenure. His patience may be rewarded heavily if the core reaches its ceiling under a new coaching staff. Not to mention, adding another first-round draft pick in Jaylon Tyson to potentially contribute. Yet if all of this patience leads to stagnation – the front office will have fumbled a prime opportunity to be a contender in the post-LeBron era. Cleveland sports fans are the best. It's undisputed. Insider links Isaac Okoro to sign and trade + the Cleveland Cavaliers hire assistant Johnnie Bryant!
Insider links Isaac Okoro to sign and trade + the Cleveland Cavaliers hire assistant Johnnie Bryant!

Johnnie Bryant is joining new Cleveland coach Kenny Atkinson’s staff, a person familiar with the hiring told The Associated Press on Saturday. Bryant, who interviewed for the Cavaliers’ opening before Atkinson was hired, will be an associate head coach, said the person who spoke on condition of anonymity because the team has not announced the addition. Bryant will be reunited in Cleveland with Cavs All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell They spent several years working together in Utah, and Mitchell has often credited the 29-year-old Bryant with making him a better player. Mitchell agreed this week to a three-year, $150.3 million contract extension with the Cavs. His commitment came just days after Cleveland hired Atkinson, the former Brooklyn coach who spent the past three seasons as an assistant with Golden State | https://apnews.com/article/johnnie-bryant-cavaliers-c544bcb26c233afaa9719f06ebaa0dad Bobby Marks of ESPN has suggested that the Cavs could indeed move Okoro for a bigger wing that better fits alongside Cleveland’s core. He went as far as suggesting that this is something he can’t talk about yet and equated it to the situation with Donovan Mitchell’s contract extension that he knew about before it became official. From Marks: Cleveland’s got Isaac Okoro who’s a restricted free agent. Look at maybe sign and trade options for him. Maybe a bigger wing . . . I don’t want to give away the beans here, so keep an eye on Cleveland as far as Isaac Okoro here. . . [The Cavs] are about $9.5 million below the luxury tax. So if you do a sign-and-trade with Okoro, you got to be careful as far as what money is coming back | https://www.fearthesword.com/2024/7/4/24192288/cleveland-cavaliers-rumor-isaac-okoro-could-be-moved-in-sign-and-trade NATIONAL DISCLAIMER: 21+ and present in select states. LATEST Celtics Rumors: Who Will Be The Next Owner Of The Boston Celtics Ft. Fenway Sports Group

The Boston Celtics have been re-signing and extended Celtics players during NBA Free Agency. 25 minutes after the Boston Celtics extended Derrick White, Wyc Grousbeck announced the Celtics were up for sale. Now, odds have been released on who could become the next owner of the Boston Celtics and take over the NBA team who just recently became the world champions and hung up banner 18. How will the next owner be able to keep up with the over $200 million dollar pay roll over the next couple of years? Celtics Today host Allie Barefoot breaks down Celtics rumors on today’s show. Share this video and tag Allie Barefoot (@arbarefoot) on X for a shoutout! Bill Simmons on who will be the next owner of the Boston Celtics: I think it’s Steve Pagliuca, who was really the number two owner on this team the whole time, and was somebody that you’d see him on the podium. He didn’t have the steering wheel, and you always knew he wanted it, and he ran for political office in Massachusetts, spent a ton of money on his campaign and didn’t get it. He went for the Nets a few years ago and had it, he had the Nets, and I forget what happened at the 11th hour, something happened, he froze or he backed off for a split second and Joe Tsai stepped in and took it. The Cleveland Cavaliers hired Kenny Atkinson & extended Donovan Mitchell... so what's next?
The Cleveland Cavaliers hired Kenny Atkinson & extended Donovan Mitchell... so what's next?

It's been a busy 48 hours for the Cleveland Cavaliers. After introducing Kenny Atkinson as the team's new head coach on Monday, the Cavs made a splash Tuesday morning by announcing Donovan Mitchell's 3-year max contract extension worth up to $150.3M. So now that the two biggest dominoes of the offseason have been knocked down, what's next for Koby Altman & the Cleveland Cavaliers? The Cleveland Cavaliers have found their next coach and have hired Golden State Warriors assistant coach Kenny Atkinson, the Cavs announced today. Atkinson was an assistant with the Warriors for the past three seasons after he spent the 2020-21 season as an assistant coach with the LA Clippers. Before that, he was coach of the Brooklyn Nets from 2016-20, when he and the team parted ways on March 7, 2020 after a 28-34 campaign with the Nets. “Kenny brings a wealth of experience, a proven track record of player development, and a relentless work ethic that aligns with the vision we have for this franchise,” Cavs president of basketball operations Koby Altman said in a statement. “His innovative approach will instill a style of play and brand of basketball that will give us a chance for sustainable success and ultimately compete for championships.” About Atkinson: A longtime assistant under Mike D’Antoni in New York, the 56-year-old Atkinson got his first head coaching gig with Brooklyn in 2016. He went 118-190 with the Nets over four seasons before stepping down. Atkinson is a Long Island native who had been an assistant coach with Atlanta and New York when Nets general manager Sean Marks hired him as Nets coach in April 2016. That came with the Nets were mired near the bottom of the NBA as they tried to dig their way out of damage following a 2013 trade with Boston, in which they acquired Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce but gave up years of assets and salary-cap flexibility. Brooklyn went 20-62 in Atkinson’s first season, 28-54 the next and nothing much was expected last season.
