Atlanta United put on a dominant performance Wednesday night in a 4-0 win over FC Cincinnati. Luiz Araújo, Josef Martínez and Ezequiel Barco all scored while Alan Franco recorded three assists, making him the first player in club history to do so. Martínez’s two goals brought his career MLS regular season goal total to 85 which is the most in a player’s first 100 appearances. Araújo quickly handed Atlanta the lead in the fifth minute with a brilliant display of speed and skill. Franco delivered a pass to the Brazilian near the center circle in Atlanta’s half where he was quickly enclosed by three Cincinnati defenders. Araújo turned to his left to find space and was met by Ronald Matarrita, but Atlanta’s Designated Player blew by the Cincinnati captain and raced down the right side. Araújo finished the play by squaring his hips towards goal and placing a left-footed shot into the far side of the net for the 1-0 lead. It was Araújo’s first goal for the club while Franco was credited with his first assist. Atlanta doubled its lead in the 40th minute. From a set piece roughly 40 yards from goal, Araújo lofted a ball into the box on the right side for Franco, who one-timed the ball across goal where Martínez nodded home his seventh goal of the year. Martínez scored his second of the night less than 10 minutes into the second half. Franco intercepted a pass and immediately played the ball to Barco. The Argentine dribbled through the midfield and sent a through ball to Martínez down the left side. The Venezuelan took a few touches before curling a shot to the far corner, leaving Tyton flat-footed for his eighth goal of the season. Atlanta polished off its strong performance in the 86th minute with a free kick goal from Barco. It was his sixth goal of the year. SUBSCRIBE to our channel! #UniteAndConquer
Atlanta United won 1-0 vs. Toronto FC Wednesday night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Ezequiel Barco scored the game-winner while recently signed Designated Player Luiz Araújo made his Atlanta United debut. Atlanta collected its third consecutive win and extended its unbeaten streak to four matches. The club’s new Brazilian forward wasted no time integrating himself into the team’s attack, putting his first shot on frame with a blast from outside the box that forced a save from goalkeeper Quentin Westberg in the eighth minute. Three minutes later, Marcelino Moreno took a shot from outside the box that was hit true, but it ascended just over the crossbar. Toronto eventually conceded as Atlanta took the lead in the 20th minute through Barco. Brooks Lennon sent a long ball down the right side where the Argentine forward gathered it inside the 18-yard-box. He retreated to the right edge of the box before turning towards goal and facing Eriq Zavaleta one-on-one. Barco took a few small touches while shying to his left before unleashing a left-footed shot that took a slight deflection off Zavaleta’s boot before falling into the top left corner of the net, leaving Westberg flat-footed. Atlanta continued to press forward and look for goals but in the 53rd minute, Toronto subbed on a trio of usual starters in Alejandro Pozuelo, Yeferson Soteldo and Kemar Lawrence to try and find an equalizer. Pozuelo nearly leveled the match in the 71st minute when a ball was lofted across the box where he was unmarked at the back post. Pozuelo one-timed a bouncing shot on goal, but Brad Guzan was well-positioned to parry it away from danger. Atlanta had a pair of late opportunities to extend its lead. In the 83rd, Moreno took a low shot across goal and missed just wide of the left post. Four minutes later, Barco chipped a ball over Toronto’s backline for Josef Martínez where the Venezuelan one-timed a shot right at Westberg. The rebound fell to Erik López, who put the ball in the back of the net, but Martínez was called offside on the initial ball. SUBSCRIBE to our channel! #UniteAndConquer

Atlanta United defeated CF Montreal 1-0 Saturday night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium as Marcelino Moreno scored the game-winning goal in stoppage time in front of a crowd of 40,116, the highest attendance for a soccer match in the world since the COVID-19 pandemic began. As the match appeared to be heading toward a scoreless draw, Atlanta found the breakthrough goal in the 94th minute. Santiago Sosa started the play in Atlanta’s own half, playing a ball out wide to Homegrown George Bello who quickly found second-half substitute Jake Mulraney sprinting toward goal. The Irish winger dribbled to the edge of the 18-yard box on the left side before delivering a pin-point cross to the middle of the box. Moreno jumped and headed the ball down, sending it bouncing off the right post and into the goal. It was Moreno’s second goal of the year and Mulraney’s second assist. Atlanta United opened the match strong and pressured Montreal’s goal early, nearly scoring in the sixth minute. Moreno lofted a pass from the center of the field toward the right post where Erik López was making a run. López attempted a header at the near post, but Clément Diop made a diving save. A minute later, Bello deked a defender on the left side and raced toward the end line before floating a cross to the center of the box. Josef Martínez won the header, but his shot was lifted just over the crossbar. Atlanta appeared to have scored in the 51st minute when Martínez played Emerson Hyndman into the box on the right side and the midfielder calmly finished with a low shot past Diop, but he was ruled offside. Atlanta pushed for the go-ahead goal, nearly connecting on a number of plays late. In the 78th minute, Bello sent in a cross from the left for Martínez, but his header missed wide right. The Venezuelan had another opportunity in the 83rd minute when a free kick from left side was sent into the box and knocked down by Miles Robinson. A Montreal defender failed to clear the loose ball and Martínez and Diop collided in an attempt to win it, however a foul was called on the forward. SUBSCRIBE to our channel! #UniteAndConquer
After 23 minutes, Celtic burst to life when David Turnbull fired his side in front. After Zlamal had conceded an indirect free-kick from a long back-pass, Christie rolled the ball to his colleague, before the 21-year-old midfielder struck low under the wall and into the net. Less than a minute later, Celtic made it two via Edouard following a sublime assist by Scott Brown – the captain sending a long ball from inside his own half in behind the Saints’ defensive line. The Frenchman lost his man with a touch inside, before lofting the ball home with a delicate chip over the goalkeeper. On 79 minutes, Kris Ajer latched onto a neat through-ball from substitute Mikey Johnston down the inside-left channel, before his deflected side-foot found its way up and over the goalkeeper. It was no less than Celtic deserved given their dominance, which substitute Karamoko Dembele added to with his first senior-level goal on 85 minutes. After bursting onto a fine defence-splitting pass from Turnbull, the young winger showed great composure to slip the ball across the keeper and into the net from a tight angle. Werner & Mount SCORES BBC Sports (Match Report): Chelsea will face Manchester City in the Champions League final in Istanbul after convincingly overcoming a fading Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge. On a night of high tension, even behind closed doors, Chelsea fully deserved a victory that sets up an all-English final against Pep Guardiola's Premier League leaders on 29 May. Thomas Tuchel's hosts were grateful to goalkeeper Edouard Mendy for two fine first-half saves from Karim Benzema but they were able to build on the 1-1 draw they achieved in Madrid when Timo Werner headed in from almost on the goal-line in the 28th minute after Kai Havertz had lofted a finish on to the bar. It set the platform for a second half of total Chelsea domination that was nevertheless laced with anxiety as the hosts missed chance after chance to put the game to bed. Real's former Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois saved from N'golo Kante and Havertz, who also headed against the bar, while Mason Mount shot wildly over the top when clean through. It was Mount, though, who finally sealed Chelsea's place in their first Champions League final since they won the competition in 2012. The outstanding Kante, who was also instrumental in the opening goal, fed substitute Christian Pulisic and his cross was turned in by Mount with five minutes left. The result adds another chapter to the remarkable transformation under Tuchel since he succeeded the sacked Frank Lampard in January - and gives him the chance to make amends for the 2020 Champions League final, when his Paris St-Germain side lost to Bayern Munich.
