We had unwavering faith in kabaddi. How fascinating, thrilling and magical is a game where a lone player storms the den of Four mighty opponents, tags them and runs for dear life as his rivals grab his limbs and furiously try to pin him down? Our heart was beating with India’s. To evolve a country of nearly 1.3 billion people into a sports superpower, we have to invest in a national culture where people are genuinely interested in various sports – not just cricket. Our efforts with hockey, football and badminton had been encouraging. But kabaddi was different. It was our very own. Our desi, homegrown, full contact sport with a history and legacy that seemed to have been forgotten. In small pockets where it was played, the talent was there. Players had a burning desire to excel and become heroes but they were hardly recognised, and the fans felt abandoned. Social Media Links :- Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/Kabaddi-Hary... An excellent team attacking performance helped Austin FC close out its 2021 home schedule with a 3-1 win over Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday night at Q2 Stadium. Austin scored its fastest goal in Club history to begin an action-packed first half, with Sebastián Driussi converting from close range just 30 seconds into the match. Jared Stroud, who assisted Driussi for the opener, nearly doubled the lead moments later with a shot that caromed off the post. It wouldn’t take much longer for the hosts to get their second goal though. In the 22nd minute, two defenders combined as Julio Cascante headed home a pinpoint free kick delivery from Žan Kolmanič Stroud eventually got himself on the scoresheet as well, firing a low shot to the far post to finish off a quick team counterattack in the 60th minute. Johnny Russell pulled a goal back for Kansas City five minutes after Stroud’s strike, but from that point forward, the Verde & Black defense effectively shut down Sporting’s high-flying front line to collect all three points. In second half stoppage time, midfielder Owen Wolff came on as a substitute, becoming the first Austin FC Homegrown Player to appear in an MLS match.
Atlanta United defeated Orlando City SC 3-0 Friday night in front of 42,507 fans at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Homegrown defender George Campbell scored his first MLS goal, Ezequiel Barco netted his fifth goal of the season and Gonzalo Pineda earned his first win as a head coach. Behind two saves from goalkeeper Brad Guzan, Atlanta United posted its sixth clean sheet of the season. Atlanta’s attacking trio of Barco, Luiz Araújo and Marcelino Moreno opened the match displaying a strong connection in the final third, combining for several chances and threatening Orlando’s goal. Araújo nearly opened the scoring in the fourth minute when he dribbled uncontested from the right side towards the top of the box where he unleashed a curling strike that clattered off the left post. Minutes later, Matheus Rossetto forced a diving save from Adam Grinwis with a shot from distance in the ninth minute. Campbell grabbed the lead for Atlanta in the 25th minute. Orlando conceded a corner kick on the far side which was taken short by Moreno to Barco. He immediately returned the ball to Moreno, who whipped in a cross to the center of the box. Campbell ventured up the field and attacked the ball at the penalty spot, perfectly placing a header into the left side of the goal for the 1-0 lead. Atlanta doubled its lead from a set piece in the 38th minute. Barco delivered a free kick from the left side towards the near post which deflected off Orlando’s Nani and Daryl Dike before bouncing into the net for an own goal. Despite having firm control of the match, Atlanta pressed for more goals in the second half and continued to pile pressure on Orlando’s defense. That pursuit eventually gave way to the home side’s third goal of the match, which began with a long ball from Brooks Lennon over the top of Orlando’s backline. Barco brought the ball down inside the penalty area and dribbled to his right, avoiding three defenders on his way to slotting home a low shot to the right corner.
