HIGHLIGHTS: Austin FC 3 - 0 Vancouver Whitecaps

Maxi Urruti scored a first-half brace and Sebastián Driussi added a league-leading sixth goal of the season as Austin FC cruised to a 3-0 victory over Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday night, in front of the Club's 22nd-consecutive MLS sellout crowd of 20,738 at Q2 Stadium. The win completes ATXFC’s first-ever three-match MLS winning streak, and is the Club's first-ever win against Canadian opposition. The Verde & Black got off to a flying start, taking the lead in the 11th minute. Driussi intercepted a Vancouver backpass and slid the ball to Urruti, who fired in a first-time finish with his right foot. Urruti doubled his tally and Austin’s advantage 15 minutes later. He received a pass from Alex Ring with his back to goal, turned, and placed a precise strike inside the far post. Despite chances for Vancouver either side of halftime, the ATXFC defense held firm. Driussi then put the outcome of the match beyond doubt in the 68th minute, heading the ball home after Julio Cascante flicked on a long throw-in from Nick Lima. From there, Austin efficiently saw out a victory which moved the Club into first place in the MLS Supporters' Shield standings, and improved the Verde & Black to 8-1-1 in their last 10 home matches.

Danny Hoesen, Sebastián Driussi, and Ruben Gabrielsen each scored in the final 10 minutes as Austin FC erased a two-goal deficit in incredible fashion to earn a 3-2 comeback win against D.C. United on Saturday evening at Audi Field. Austin nearly opened the scoring 15 minutes into the match. Maxi Urruti plucked the ball off D.C. goalkeeper Bill Hamid, but slipped as he shot and fired over. 11 minutes later, Kamara gave the hosts the lead, finishing from 10 yards out. The Verde & Black thought they’d found the equalizer after the half-hour mark through Diego Fagundez, only to see the goal chalked off for an offside player during the build-up. Kamara doubled his tally and D.C.’s lead in the 40th minute, with Julian Gressel providing the assist for the second time. Before halftime though, Kamara was sent off for his second yellow card offense, a cynical foul on Sebastián Driussi. ATXFC displayed improvement throughout the second half, and got a goal back in the 80th minute when Danny Hoesen tucked away an excellent cross from Diego Fagundez. Five minutes later, Druissi popped up at the back post to slam home a cross from Hector Jimenez, and Ruben Gabrielsen headed in the winner in the 90th minute to complete an amazing come-from-behind victory.

HIGHLIGHTS: Austin FC 1-0 Minnesota FC

In front of a sold-out crowd on Sunday night at Q2 Stadium, Maxi Urruti’s strike in the 58th minute was the difference as Austin FC earned a 1-0 win over Minnesota United FC. The first half looked similar to the previous meeting between the two sides at Q2 Stadium last season - with Austin controlling possession and Minnesota content to stay compact and limit scoring opportunities. The Verde & Black had 65 percent possession through the opening 45 minutes and out passed the Loons 280 to 137, but each team only registered one shot. Things began to open up in the second half, with Brad Stuver making a big save to deny Joseph Rosales in the early stages. Soon after, ATXFC got the goal its attacking intent deserved, as Urruti swept home a sweet right-footed volley from Hector Jimenez’s cross. Urruti nearly doubled the lead and his tally in the 77th minute. Driussi played his fellow Argentine in behind the defense, but his clever chip was cleared off the line by Michael Boxall. Driussi then had an opportunity fall his way moments later, forcing a strong save from Minnesota goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair. Minnesota’s best chance of the match arrived with five minutes remaining, when Diego Fagundez was well-positioned to stop a goal-bound header from crossing the line. Dani Pereira nearly netted his first career goal in the closing moments, but in the end, the Verde & Black just needed the one goal to walk out as winners.

HIGHLIGHTS: San Jose Earthquakes 2-2 Austin FC

A fantastic long-range strike from Maxi Urruti and a Sebastián Driussi penalty kick spurred Austin FC to a 2-2 away draw with the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday evening at PayPal Park. Urruti’s first goal in Verde & Black came in the 11th minute, and it was one to remember. The striker took an excellent touch to bring down a long ball from Julio Cascante and unleashed a volley from 25 yards out that looped over Earthquakes goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski. Two key saves from Brad Stuver helped ATXFC weather a wave of San Jose attacks, and Austin nearly doubled its lead on two occasions just before halftime, with Ethan Finlay and Alex Ring both going close. The second goal did arrive shortly after the break, when Daniel Pereira won a penalty for being brought down by San Jose’s Jackson Yueill. Sebastián Driussi confidently dispatched the spot kick for his fourth goal of the campaign. The Earthquakes then pulled themselves back into the contest with a pair of goals two minutes apart. San Jose got a penalty of its own which Jeremy Ebobisse put away, and Cade Cowell scored from a scramble in the six-yard area to tie the match in the 72nd minute. Despite late chances for both sides, neither found the net again, and the teams split the points on the night.
