Well, that was one for the baseball purists. In a brisk two hours and 25 minutes the Battlin’ Buccos of 2019 sent the Reds to their sixth consecutive loss behind another stellar pitching performance by a Pirates starter. This time, it was Joe Musgrove’s turn to take the mound and try to build upon what has already been a stellar start to the season for the strength of the Pirates. He certainly didn’t disappoint. Here are some observations from Friday’s win. The Reds’ bats are currently hapless: Steve Blass said it best during the game. Sometimes it’s not about the lineup you face, but rather when you face them. Right now, the Cincinnati bats are as non-existent as the hot dog buns at PNC Park. This is now three straight contests they’ve been shutout, and the Pirates pitching staff hasn’t allowed a Reds player to cross home plate in 28 consecutive innings. Whoa Nelly, that is nothing to sniff at. It isn’t like the Reds lineup is down to their sixth or seventh outfield options like the Bucs. This is a fierce top-to-bottom card that is still very formidable with the likes of potential Hall of Famer Joey Votto, an all-star last season in Matt Kemp, and the always dangerous Yasiel Puig. Those three combined to go 1-11 Friday night with four punch-outs. The Pirates are doing a good job of kicking them when they’re down. A week ago, the New England Patriots clobbered the hapless Los Angeles Chargers but in my opinion, the results could have been much different had the Chargers stuck with their game plan. Rather than stick with something that works, the LA Chargers lost their nerve and experimented with something different and unfamiliar. But we often make the same mistake in life...so rather than cry about it (if you're a Chargers fan especially), use this game as a critical life lesson.
It was another ruthless performance by Pakistan’s young guns as they crushed a hapless and chaotic Australia by 33 runs in the third Twenty20 international in Dubai on Sunday, registering their first ever whitewash against them in a limited over series. Yet again opener Babar Azam batted well for a half century while leg-spinner Shadab Khan finished with three wickets to give Pakistan another dominating win. Azam scored 40-ball 50 to lift Pakistan to another challenging 150-5 before Shadab’s 3-19 bowled Australia out for 117 in 19.1 overs at Dubai stadium. https://arysports.tv/pakistan-clean-sweep-australia-twenty20-series/
With Old Trafford currently resembling a passable imitation of the snake-filled Well of Souls into which Indiana Jones was temporarily sealed in Raiders of the Lost Ark, Manchester United will probably welcome an away trip, even if it is to the Premier League’s most ludicrous ground. With the exception of their lamentable surrender to Brighton at the Amex Stadium, Manchester United have performed better on the road than at home this season and now face a West Ham side that has rediscovered what passes for its mojo after starting the season with four consecutive league defeats. Declan Rice has been instrumental in their revival, acting as a defensive shield to a back four that has become compact and tight. Having neutralised Chelsea and scored eight past hapless Macclesfield in the past week, West Ham’s confidence is likely to be considerably higher than that of a Manchester United side who were outplayed by both Wolves and Derby County in the same period. Another poor result will prompt more tedious but unavoidable questions about José Mourinho’s future at the club and – far more seriously – may even have an adverse effect on the Apple Store rating of United’s mobile app. BG • West Ham v Manchester United, Saturday 12.30pm BST • Pogba’s agent to hold Man Utd talks in November over future • Cristiano Ronaldo’s one-game ban clears him to face Man Utd • Daniel Taylor: Mourinho’s scowl sums up Manchester United mood There has been relatively little scrutiny so far on the world’s most expensive goalkeeper, largely because Kepa has not had a great deal to do since Chelsea bought him for around £5m more than Liverpool paid for Alisson three weeks previously. He looked a trifle shaky early on in his debut against Huddersfield and was at fault for Arsenal’s first goal in the following match but neither of those sides, nor any other, were able to put him through a really searching examination. That will probably change on Saturday, when Liverpool can be expected to give him his more serious test of the season so far. Something similar could be said of Allison at the other end, although he is more experienced and, what is more, has a stronger defence in front of him. Last Sunday they were largely bailed out by wasteful Everton finishing and an egregious misjudgment by the officials; it was hardly fun and games in the wins over West Ham, Cardiff and Newcastle either but the results are, at least against the lesser sides, trickling in. Enyimba FC have booked their place in the semi-final of the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup following a 5-1 second-leg win over Rayon Sports on Sunday in Aba. There were five different goal scorers for Enyimba on the day as they equalled the total number of goals they scored in the group stage in one game. Stanley Dimgba opened scoring for the hosts inside the opening 12 minutes as they got underway as they’d hoped to. However, the visitors responded through Caleb Bimenyimana 13 minutes later. That goal sparked off the onslaught as Enyimba brought down the full wrath of their attack on a hapless Rayon defence. Ikouwem Udoh restored Enyimba’s lead to go into the break, but with the Rwandan side holding on to a slim hope, they could return to level. Those thoughts were quickly extinguished as defender, Sunday Adetunji scored with just three minutes after the interval. Goals on the hour mark and in the 80th minutes by Joseph Osadiaye and Isiaka Oladuntoye sealed the emphatic win. For the Nigerian side, they now await the winner between Raja Casablanca and CARA Brazzaville. Subcribes to PliesTV
Jokanovic wanted to make FOUR Fulham changes against Watford Published: 13:18 EDT, 22 September 2018 | Updated: 13:45 EDT, 22 September 2018 Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic wanted to make four half-time substitutions following his side's sloppy start in the 1-1 draw with Watford. The Whites trailed at the interval due to Andre Gray's second-minute goal and would have been further behind but for the visitors' profligacy. Jokanovic replaced the hapless Alfie Mawson and captain Kevin McDonald at the break, introducing Floyd Ayite and Denis Odoi. Slavisa Jokanovic (pictured) slammed Fulham's first-half display against Watford The Whites boss says he wanted to make four changes at half-time on SaturdayIt prompted a much-improved second-half display, with Aleksandar Mitrovic stabbing home a 78th-minute equaliser and then being denied a last-minute winner by the fingertips of Ben Foster.'I make two changes; if I'd had the opportunity I would have made four, I would do it,' said Jokanovic.'It's not a question about one player or another player, no play... --------------------- DONT FORGET SUBSCRIBE FOR ME : https://goo.gl/r8kgfa
