Ozil And Sokratis Left Out Of Arsenal's Europa League Squad
Mesut Ozil and Sokratis Papastathopoulos have both been left out of Arsenal's 25-Man Europa League Squad. The German continues to be exiled and this could signal the complete end of the German at Arsenal. Sokratis has also been left out despite staying at the club. The Greek Defender was linked with a move away from Arsenal but surprisingly ended up staying. Kolasinac started on the left side of the centre three. Niles came on for Bellerin while Tierney started as the left wing back. Willock partnered Xhaka in midfield. Saka started for the 4th consecutive game since lockdown. Aubameyang, Ceballos and Holding were given a rest. Ozil amd Guendouzi missed out from the squad yet again. 🔴 Match Reaction: John Lundstram was denied the opening goal by VAR after heading in from close range. There was further bad news for Lundstram with the midfielder having to be substituted before the break due to a shoulder injury. Chris Basham then fouled Alexandre Lacazette in the box and the referee Paul Tierney awarded Arsenal a penalty. Nicolas Pepe slotted it in, a close call as Dean Henderson had guessed the right way. David Luiz limped off early in the 2nd half and Holding came on from him. Sheffield United created more chances after the interval and were finally rewarded from a long throw which was bundled in by David McGoldrick. Nketiah who had also come on for Lacazette was involved in a good counter attack together with Saka and Pepe which saw Ceballos pounce on a loose ball to win it for Arsenal in the 91st minute. This win adds another fixture to Arsenal's already crammed schedule but Arteta will welcome it as he continues on the pursuit of European Competition. Back to Back wins will be a confident booster.
