Rowett was disappointed that the Lions followed up a first half in which they were the better team and had the lead through Benik Afobe’s goal with a slow start to the second to allow Palace to equalise a minute after the break through Michael Olise. Olise then crossed in the 58th minute for Jean-Philippe Mateta to head home what proved to be the winner. Rowett felt Mateta was offside in the build-up to the first goal, but the Lions manager was more focused on his side’s defending. “I think we acquitted ourselves pretty well for the vast majority of the game,” Rowett said. “In the first half we started really well. You knew that with the atmosphere at The Den it was all about trying to make it a really quick, aggressive start. “We did that quite well, we looked really assured as a team first half in and out of possession. We scored a very good goal, we worked a little bit on when we could get higher up the pitch and put pressure on. Jack Butland just takes a little bit of time on the ball and we manage to pinch it off him and score a good goal. “I thought we looked fine first half, I was really pleased when we came in at half-time. Second half what you can’t do against a Premier League side, or any side, is start like that. We can’t allow Olise time on the ball. “I think there is an offside in the build-up when the ball goes into the striker, I think Matetea is just offside, but then you can’t allow Olise to come inside the pitch. He’s left-footed, you’ve got to force him outside, and it was a poor goal for us to concede. Then after that we conceded another poor goal when Olise again comes inside, chips a ball into the box and we’ve got two players in there against their two and we allow a free header. “Disappointing but I was pleased with the response afterwards. It was just whether we could go and get that second goal, really. “When you’re playing against a Premier League side that goes so strong and then brings on the likes of [Christian] Benteke and [Odsonne] Édouard you know that it’s going to be a game where you have to maintain it for 90 minutes. You can’t drop your guard, you can’t make mistakes because they’ve got players who can punish those mistakes. “That 10-, 15-minute spell [after half-time], yes they upped their game, yes they attacked with more intensity but I would expect us to be able to maintain that in the 46th, 47th minute. 01022022 Head Coach Kelvin Sampson and Fabian White after Houston Cougars' 66-61 win over Temple

Houston Cougars Head Coach Kelvin Sampson and forward Fabian White speak with the media after the Coogs' 66-61 road win over the Temple Owls. Both teams were short-handed due to injuries and were coming out of health and safety protocols because of COVID. Coach Sampson said today's win was Houston's best win of the season because of the effort the 7 Houston players who played gave throughout the game. Point guard Jamal Shead played the entire game. Shead got fatigued in the second half which caused a few of his turnovers; but, he was in the right spot defensively to get a charging call on Temple to erase a game-tying three-pointer in the closing minutes of the game. Shead finished the game with 14 points, 2 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 turnovers. Fabian White scored 15 points and pulled down 14 rebounds in 38 minutes. Freshman guard Ramon Walker scored 13 points in 37 minutes. Walker made 3 of Houston's 4 three-point baskets -- including a clutch 3 to put Houston up (62-57) in the closing minutes. In his first game back in about 2 weeks (COVID), Taze Moore scored 10 points in 38 minutes.

How Ralf Rangnick Will Set Up Manchester United | Starting XI, Formation & Tactics
Welcome back! Reports suggest that Manchester United have found their managerial replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and are set to appoint Ralf Rangnick as interim manager on a 6 month contract. So in this video I’m going to give you a brief insight into what he’ll bring tactically and how he’ll set the Reds up. ► SUBSCRIBE to STATMAN DAVE: http://bit.ly/StatmanDaveYoutube With a coaching career that stretches back to the 1980s, Ralf Rangnick has been around the block with his most successful managerial spell coming at Hoffenheim. Since then, the Professor has been more involved at board level, as he oversaw the Red Bull revolution in Salzburg and Leipzig as the Director of Football. His most recent spell in management came in the 2018/19 Bundesliga where he kept the RB Leipzig seat warm for Julian Nagelsmann. Mainly deploying a 4-2-2-2, Rangnick took the club 3 places higher in the Bundesliga and 13 points better off than they were in the previous season under Ralph Hassenhuttl. Rangnick’s style of play is Intense, direct and tough to keep up with but extremely rewarding and very fun to watch. His Leipzig side would press from a very narrow block which enabled them to press high and frequently force turnovers in dangerous positions. In possession his Leipzig team would get all of its width from overlapping full backs, with the attacking structure resembling a 2-2-4-2 as the creative interiors: Sabitzer and Forsberg, could create from the half spaces. Rangnick’s teams don’t tend to build out from the back and invite pressure to create space higher up the pitch like you’d expect from a possession based style. Throughout his career he’s used different systems and had a lot of success with a 4-3-3, a 4-4-2 diamond and a 4-2-3-1 so don’t be surprised if you see tweaks from game to game. That being said, I think that Man Utd’s squad is made for Rangnick’s 4-2-2-2. The Professor will give all of Man United’s players a crash course in gegenpressing and whilst this could force a lot of fatigue and injuries without a preseason, United’s squad is big enough to cope with the demands. The big question mark is Cristiano Ronaldo. Too good to drop but not suited to a gegenpress, an energetic strike partner could be crucial in allowing him to feature. Despite that, many of his key positions at RB Leipzig can be implemented and fulfilled with the current crop of Manchester United players and I expect the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho to thrive under his management.
