BCCI Announce India 15 Member's Confirm Team Squad For Asia Cup 2022 | Asia Cup 2022 India Squad 2022 Asia Cup The 2022 Asia Cup is scheduled to be the 15th edition of the Asia Cup cricket tournament, with the matches being played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) during August and September 2022 in the United Arab Emirates. Originally scheduled to be held in September 2020, the tournament was postponed in July 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was then rescheduled to take place in Sri Lanka in June 2021, before being postponed to again. Pakistan were scheduled to host the tournament after retaining the rights to host the 2022 edition. However, in October 2021, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced that Sri Lanka would host the tournament in 2022, with Pakistan hosting the 2023 edition. India Squad for Asia Cup 2022: The All-India Senior Selection Committee on Monday announced the 15-member India squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 which will begin on August 27 and conclude on September 11. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul have made a return to the side while Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan miss out. Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel were not available for selection owing to injuries. They are currently undergoing rehab at the NCA in Bengaluru. Rahul, who did not feature in the T20 series against West Indies due to COVID-19, has recuperated from sports hernia surgery and is back as vice-captain. The 15th edition of the tournament will be played in the UAE between six teams. Defending champions India are also the most successful team, having won the trophy on seven occasions. While the last edition of the tournament was held in an ODI format, this edition will feature the T20 format. India will be without their pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah for the Asia Cup, with the 28-year-old nursing a back injury. Sources in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Indian team have said that Bumrah has been suffering from back spasm for some time and the selectors will not be risking aggravation of his injury by picking him for the Continental Championship. Bumrah's last India game was an ODI, against England at Lord's on July 14. He was subsequently rested for the just-concluded eight-match white ball series against the West Indies. Bumrah becomes the second pacer to be unavailable after Harshal Patel. As reported earlier, the Haryana and RCB bowler is down with side strain and, like Bumrah, did not play in the West Indies series. "Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel were not available for selection owing to injuries. They are currently undergoing rehab at the NCA in Bengaluru," stated a BCCI media release on Monday (August 8).
