The first match saw a cracking contest between the two teams with the hosts pipping their counterparts by two runs. Chasing 163 Sri Lanka could post 160 despite valiant efforts from skipper Dasun Shanaka and quick-fire cameos from Wanindu Hasaranga and Chamika Karunaratne. So moving on to this clash the visitors would like their mainstays Pathum Nissanka Dhananjaya de Silva Charith Asalanka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa to step up with the bat. Meanwhile although their spinners did a fabulous job the pace battery must evolve its performance in not only the powerplay but also the death overs. On the other hand India were saved by Umran Malik and debutant Shivam Mavi on a day that could have ended on a worse note for them. The likes of Yuzvendra Chahal and Axar Patel went for plenty while Harshal Patel conceded more than ten runs an over in his four-over spell. On the batting front Ishan Kishan and Deepak Hooda ensured a fighting total for the Men in Blue while the big names Shubman Gill Sanju Samson and Hardik Pandya failed to live up to the expectations. So these players would be raring to make their presence felt in this match. Considering the contest between the teams in the first game we reckon it will be another cracking game on Thursday. However India are high on confidence which is why we expect them to emerge victorious in this clash. But can the Lankans restore parity? What to expect: Moderate temperatures are expected. The last T20I encounter at this venue also featured these two sides in a game where India made over 200 and won by a huge margin. India Team News: Arshdeep Singh was unavailable for the first game having not recovered in time for illness. With a short turnaround and an ODI series coming up India might be tempted to not rush him in. Sanju Samson is a doubtful starter for this game and that might open the doors for Rahul Tripathi. Sri Lanka Team News: Kasun Rajitha was taken for runs in Mumbai but he did fare well in Pune way back in 2016 in a T20I to help Sri Lanka win. Will that help him retain his spot? Avishka Fernando may have to wait. Pitch Report IND vs SL 2nd T20 at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium: Black soil makes up the pitches at MCA Stadium which should help spin bowling. The MCA Stadium’s surfaces are renowned for being initially favorable to batting but also support good spin bowling. The first T20I will be hosted at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. India will be playing a T20 series after 5 weeks and Sri Lanka is going to play their first T20 series after the T20 World Cup. India have lined up a squad full of youth and jampacked top-order batters. On the other hand Sri Lanka have an amalgam of young guns and senior pros. We shall see who edges past in the first match of the series. Team News (Sri Lanka): The Sri Lankan team will be led by Dasun Shanaka with Kusal Mendis as his deputy. Sri Lanka last played a T20 game in the World Cup 2022. Nuwan Thushara (T20Is) and Sadeera Samarawickrama have came into the squad. Samarawickrama and Avishka Fernando have performed extremely well in the recently concluded Lanka Premier League (LPL). The batting order is jammed up with renowned names like Pathum Nissanka Charith Asalanka Dhananjaya de Silva etc. On the flip side the bowling will be spearheaded by Lahiru Kumara. Kasun Rajitha should be making the first XI with either of Pramod Madhushan or Dilshan Madhushanka. Team News (India): Indian captain Rohit Sharma sustained a thumb injury in the previous series against Bangladesh and therefore isn't applicable to play in this series. The management also decided to rest Virat Kohli and KL Rahul for the series. Hardik Pandya will be leading the home side in this series with Suryakumar Yadav as his deputy. Shivam Mavi has earned his maiden India call-up and we might see him make his debut later in the series. Also Mukesh Kumar is a part of the squad who is yet to make his national debut. What to expect in IND vs SL 1st T20: As we have seen over the years the conditions are usually favorable for the chasing side at the Wankhede with the dew coming into the picture. Moderate temperatures are expected during the game. IND vs SL 1st T20I Pitch Report: A high-scoring game is expected at the Wankhede Stadium with the average first-innings total in the last three matches being 189. Bowlers have not found much help especially the spinners who have picked up only four wickets across the last three matches.
