The match is scheduled at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. India will be without their two stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Also with Jasprit Bumrah missing Hardik Pandya will again have a young seam bowling unit to lead in the series. However despite the key players' absence team India looks rock-solid studded with the likes of Suryakumar Yadav Shubman Gill Ishan Kishan Yuzvendra Chahal and Arshdeep Singh. It will also be interesting to see if Prithvi Shaw makes his much-awaited international comeback in the very first game. He will fight a virtual contest with Gill Ishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad for an opening slot in the playing XI. This series will also give the much-needed opportunities to Rahul Tripathi and Deepak Hooda to upgrade their status from fringe players to regulars in the shortest format. The visitors will look to erase the scars of the ODI series and start the T20Is on a winning note. But their journey won't be easy as they will miss ace pacers Tim Southee and Trent Boult. So the onus will be on their batting unit comprising Finn Allen Devon Conway Glenn Phillips Daryl Mitchell and the sensational Michael Bracewell. It will also be a litmus test for Mitchell Santner who besides batting and bowling will have the additional responsibility of leadership. Lockie Ferguson who was abysmal in the ODIs must perform as the leader of the bowling attack by not only putting up impressive performances but also guiding the young guns like Henry Shipley Jacob Duffy and Blair Tickner. So who will win? Team News New Zealand: After impressing in the ODI series Michael Bracewell will be a shoo-in for the T20Is. Ben Lister could be making his debut. Team News India: Ruturaj Gaikwad stands ruled out of the series with wrist pain/injury but India haven't asked for a replacement. They are likely to stick with the opening pair of Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill which served them well recently against Sri Lanka. There's also Prithvi Shaw in the squad this time having forced his way back with the sheer weight of runs at the domestic level and how India try and bring him into the scheme of things will be something to keep an eye on. There's no Harshal Patel this time around and the returning Kuldeep Yadav could challenge Yuzvendra Chahal's spot. What to expect: A whole lot of MS Dhoni t-shirts in the stands. Only three T20 Internationals have been hosted at this ground with the last one being a rematch between India and NZ here in 2021. Tim Southee and Harshal Patel's cutters headlined the slow pitch on that occasion but India have played on much better pitches this season and something similar could be expected in Ranchi. Watch out for the big boundaries at this venue. Pitch Report: The pitch at Ranchi's JSCA International Stadium Complex offers a balanced surface in T20 cricket. The average first innings score here is 133 but India easily chased a 154-run target against Kiwis in the last T20I game played here. The face-off is scheduled at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. After a shocking 2-1 defeat to Bangladesh last year India got off to a remarkable start in 2023 whitewashing Sri Lanka by 3-0 on home soil. While the stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli rediscovered their vintage best youngster Shubman Gill proved why he is regarded as the next big thing in Indian cricket. However the two biggest positives for the Men in Blue were the evolution of Mohammed Siraj as a force in the powerplay and Kuldeep Yadav's redemption. Meanwhile KL Rahul's absence has posed a massive challenge for Ishan Kishan as he will likely bat in the middle-order in the series. Also it will be interesting to see if Shardul Thakur justifies his selection as it will be a litmus test for India's comeback man to prove his mettle with bat and ball. Like their opponents New Zealand is coming on the back of a historic series win over Pakistan. But replicating the same in India will be more challenging for the Blackcaps as they will miss their two key players Kane Williamson and Tim Southee. So the onus will be on Tom Latham who has enjoyed stellar success against India in ODIs. Additionally the likes of Henry Nicholls Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips are capable of winning the game on any given day. Although the Kiwis have come up with a solid spin unit studded with Ish Sodhi Mitchell Santner and Michael Bracewell their pace battery looks slightly off-colour on paper. So it will be fascinating to see how their seamers fare against India's formidable batting unit in the series. So can the visitors surprise the hosts? Team News India: There's no update on Yuzvendra Chahal's shoulder injury he sustained while diving in the first ODI against Sri Lanka which has now kept him out for two straight games. Axar's absence will allow India to try out Washington Sundar for an extended period in that no.7 slot. Shardul Thakur may get a look in at some point in the series maybe ahead of Umran Malik who picked up key middle-overs wickets but bowled at an economy of more than 6.8 in both games against Sri Lanka and was rested for the third. Team News New Zealand: Henry Nicholls could be the front-runner to replace Williamson in the XI from their last game while in the bowling department the toss up would be between the returning medium-pace allrounder Dough Bracewell or Blair Tickner. All three last played for New Zealand between April-July 2022. What to expect: Clear blue skies a sunny afternoon and no chances of rain interruption whatsoever. Series conceded 2-0 Sri Lanka will have pride to play for in the third and final ODI against India in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday (January 15). While there are no Super League points at stake in this inconsequential clash Sri Lanka do have a one final shot at automatic qualification for the 2023 World Cup later in India when they take on New Zealand at home and a win before that would do their confidence a world of good. On the other hand the World Cup hosts have a packed multi-format home season ahead with at least 12 more ODIs and an Asia Cup to go after this and the players' workload would be on the management's mind. "We haven't thought about it yet once we get there we'll have a look at the pitch and have a look at some of our guys" captain Rohit Sharma said at the Eden Gardens on the expected changes for the final game of the series. "There are three ODIs coming up against New Zealand as well so we need to keep the guys fresh. We've got a long season now and we need to keep everything in mind. If needed we'll make some changes" he added. If not in the batting-order - where the team management has backed Shubman Gill and a recently-demoted vice-captain KL Rahul despite the red-hot form of Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav in white-ball cricket - India could ring in some changes in the bowling department to manage the bowlers' workload. The only left-arm pacer in the squad Arshdeep Singh could get a look in as India seek to test their bench strength in the lead up to their World Cup preparations. The focus would once again be on Kuldeep Yadav who bowled superbly in Kolkata but may find himself sidelined once again after yet another Player of the Match performance - like in Bangladesh in the recently-concluded Test series - should India's first-choice wrist spinner Yuzvendra Chahal recover fully. After a complete performance in Guwahati and a hard-fought win in Kolkata India have an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. Ahead of taking on a stiffer opposition in New Zealand just next week the hosts wouldn't want to let their guard down even in the dead rubber. India have been clinical with both bat and ball so far. However the biggest positive for India has been their bowling unit. So moving on to this clash the Men in Blue are high on confidence to accomplish a whitewash over the visitors. On the other hand Sri Lanka have been patchy with both bat and ball which has led to their debacle in the series. Team News India: Injury kept Chahal out of the second ODI in Kolkata and it's unclear yet if he has recovered sufficiently to return to the XI. At the end of the game Rohit mentioned the need to manage players workload and that could translate into a chance for some of them on the bench. Team News Sri Lanka: The visitors too have injury concerns in their camp and are fretting over the fitness of Dilshan Madushanka (shoulder injury) and Pathum Nissanka (stiff back). What to expect: A bit of clouds but no interruption is expected for the game day. The dew should make chasing the preferred choice of captains. Pacers do get assistance at the venue but the batters will also enjoy the shorter boundaries here. Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content. New Zealand cricket team in India in 2022–23   India vs New Zealand Dates 18 January – 1 February 2023 Captains Tom Latham (ODIs) Mitchell Santner (T20Is) Mitchell Santner to lead New Zealand's T20I squad in India Auckland fast bowler Ben Lister has been picked in a New Zealand squad for the first time Mitchell Santner has been named captain of New Zealand's T20I squad for the series in India that begins later this month. Kane Williamson and Tim Southee will both be absent, having chosen not to travel after the ongoing series in Pakistan. Ben Lister, the 27-year-old Auckland fast bowler, is a first time inclusion in the New Zealand squad. He had toured India as part of the New Zealand A squad late last year and was named Auckland Cricket's Men's Bowler of the Year last season With Williamson and Southee not travelling to India after the tour of Pakistan, New Zealand will be led by Tom Latham in the ODIs and Santner in the T20Is. Santner has led New Zealand in 11 T20Is - eight of which were in Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands last year. "Mitch is a leader in our white-ball teams and has captained the T20 side in India [in Kolkata in 2021] before," Larsen said. "His experience in Indian conditions will be invaluable leading this group." NZC said that fast bowlers Kyle Jamieson (back), Matt Henry (abdominal), Adam Milne (side) and Ben Sears (back) were unavailable for selection because they are recovering from injuries. The New Zealand team is presently in Pakistan where they have one match to go in the three-ODI series that is level at 1-1, after having drawn the two-Test series 0-0. They will then travel to India for three ODIs in Hyderabad (January 18), Raipur (January 21) and Indore (January 24), before the three T20Is in Ranchi (January 27), Lucknow (January 29) and Ahmedabad (February 1). New Zealand's T20I squad for India: Mitchell Santner (capt), Finn Allen, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Dane Cleaver, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Lockie Ferguson, Ben Lister, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Michael Rippon, Henry Shipley, Ish Sodhi, Blair Tickner Team India’s Predicted 16-Member T20 Series Squad Team India rested a lot of senior players for the T20 series vs Sri Lanka. But will all or some return for the T20 series as well vs New Zealand? Well, hearing the statement of Rohit Sharma in the press conference, it looks unlikely they will play the T20 series. So, expect Hardik to lead the T20 squad as usual.  Meanwhile, the T20 series is going to begin two days after the ODI series. If we have observed the T20 squad vs Sri Lanka, all players performed well, so it looks unlikely India would drop any player on the performance basis. However, they can add a player or two more, if required.  The only forced change that we may see in the squad is the selection of Jitesh Sharma in place of Sanju Samson. This looks like the only change that Team India will do. Rest 15 players should remain the same. So, here’s the predicted 16-member squad for Team India for the T20 series vs New Zealand.  India vs New Zealand 2023: Predicted T20 Series Squad List for Team India Batters: Rahul Tripathi, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill & Suryakumar Yadav   Wks: Ishan Kishan & Jitesh Sharma All-rounders: Axar Patel, Deepak Hooda, Hardik Pandya & Washington Sundar Bowlers: Arshdeep Singh, Harshal Patel, Mukesh Kumar, Shivam Mavi, Umran Malik & Yuzvendra Chahal Captain: Hardik Pandya // Vice-captain: Suryakumar Yadav #CricketSuperfans #Cricket #ipl #ipl2023 #teamindia #cricketnews #indiateam #indvsnz #indiavsnewzealand #hardikpandya #rohitsharma #viratkohli #kanewilliamson

Despite failing to gain control over the seam movements they have managed to bag wickets at crucial junctures. For India they would be hoping that the best friend duo of KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya steer them to victory. But the road isn't safe as the ball is still moving especially when Kasun Rajitha is the architect. A target of 216 on a superb batting wicket for India. They should chase it down with ease but in cricket anything can happen. There is some assistance for the spinners and Sri Lanka have the likes of Wanindu Hasaranga and Dunith Wellalage to make use of it. Early wickets will be the key for them. Let's see if they present any fight. Mohammed Siraj (5.4-0-30-3) says that the wicket did not have much pace at the start and he was trying to bowl stump-to-stump as there was no swing. Mentions that he was just trying to keep the pressure on. Tells that he was talking to KL Rahul and he said that there was not much swing after the first over and that's why Siraj attempted to bowl with a scrambled seam. Feels that it is a batting wicket and Kuldeep bowled an extraordinary spell. States that the Indian batters just need to keep it simple to chase this total down. The only change that India made for this game was replacing the unfit Yuzvendra Chahal with Kuldeep Yadav and he grabbed the chance with open arms. He bowled with a lot of control and skills and his execution of plans was brilliant. The other bowlers also rallied around him and the likes of Umran Malik and Mohammed Siraj were again among the wickets. The start from Sri Lanka was decent as they batted out Powerplay 1 by losing only one wicket and managed to put 51 runs on the board. Debutant Nuwanidu Fernando and Kusal Mendis formed a partnership and the former impressed everyone with his calm and composed knock. At the first Drinks break the visitors looked in control and would have been dreaming of a score in excess of 300 but Kuldeep Yadav came out of syllabus for them. The magical wrist spinner created havoc and ran through the middle order in a jiffy. From 102 for 1 Sri Lanka collapsed to 126 for 6. The lower order contributed a few handy runs taking the score above 200 but failed to last the distance. A dominant bowling show from India on a batting-friendly surface. They will be immensely pleased with their efforts on the field - bundling out the opposition for a paltry score inside 40 overs. The crowd has loved the entire action thus far and is roaring as the Men in Blue walk off the field. Sri Lanka have been bundled out for 215 on a good batting deck after opting to bat. Avishka Fernando struck three successive fours off Siraj but the latter had the last laugh by providing the early breakthrough for the hosts. Debutant Nuwanidu Fernando took 11 balls to get off the mark but he along with Kusal Mendis scored at a brisk rate stitched a half-century partnership and were unperturbed by pace. Rohit Sharma introduced spin only in the 17th over and both the left-arm spinners struck in their respective first over as Mendis and DDS perished playing for spin when there was none. The set Nuwanidu was run-out and Sri Lanka imploded as they slipped from 102/1 to 126/6 with Kuldeep starring with three wickets. Sri Lanka's lower order showed some fight with three 25+ stands.
