The new format for the Sevens at Gala had pools instead of a straight knockout competition for the first time, and the event was an evening tournament - again a first for the event. Jedforest made the final and were looking to lift the trophy for the first time in 91 years - their last five attempts in previous finals were unsuccessful. Meanwhile Heriot's were looking to go one step better than last year when Melrose beat them in the final. Commentary from Radio Borders' Stuart McCulloch and Stuart McFarlane, the programme is introduced by Stuart Cameron. Featuring reaction from Jed's Darren Gillespie and Iain Chisholm. www.BordersRugby.net
The South of Scotland took on The Barbarians at Mansfield Park, Hawick, in a game to raise money for the Bill McLaren Foundation. It was the first time these two famous teams had met, and The South were looking to add the famous name of The Baa-Baas to their list of scalps from the past when they beat Australia, Japan and Fiji, as well as drawing with South Africa (twice) and Argentina. Commentators are Stuart McCulloch and Bruce Millar. www.BordersRugby.net
