Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez weighed in on the controversy involving goal celebrations by Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr. His remarks, together with several supportive comments by leading Brazilian players, comes after wide criticism by Vinicius Jr. goal celebrations, which include dancing near the corner flag. A Spanish TV commentator said during a show that the Brazilian was being disrespectful to opponents with his celebrations, comparing his behavior to that of a monkey. Those words started a backlash on social media and in Brazil, as it was seen as racist. Neymar and Pele were some who put out their support on social media to the Real Madrid player, asking him to continue to celebrate the way he has been doing. Later, panelist Pedro bravo went to Twitter to clarify his saying, explaining that he used the "monkey" expression to say Vini was "doing stupid things".
