SC East Bengal ended the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) in familiar fashion as their last Hero Indian Super League encounter resulted in a 1-0 defeat against Bengaluru FC here, at the Tilak Maidan Stadium. Sunil Chhetri’s solitary strike (24’) proved to be the difference, bagging three points for Marco Pezzaiuoli’s men in their final fixture of their 2021-22 campaign. The result meant that the Kolkata-based club finished the season in the bottom-place on the points table, with only one win in 20 matches. On the other hand, Bengaluru FC finished in sixth place as they secured 29 points overall. Antonio Perosevic tested Lara Sharma in the goal from a free-kick situation early in the match but the custodian was steadfast in making the save. The game was evenly balanced until a moment of individual brilliance from Sunil Chhetri broke the deadlock. The skipper controlled a long ball on his chest and slotted the shot into the bottom left corner to give the lead to the Blues in the 24th minute. Udanta Singh then came close to scoring but saw his long-range shot hit the crossbar at the stroke of half-hour. The first half did not have any more goals apart from a lot of goalmouth action from both teams. The Red & Gold Brigade suffered a setback by losing Perosevic to an ankle injury, who was replaced by Marcelo Ribeiro. Due to a lack of cohesion in the final third, only one goal came from the first 45-minutes and BFC went into the halftime break with a one-goal advantage. The second half saw a harder push for the second goal from Bengaluru FC. However, they handed a gift to Thongkhosiem Haokip at the hour mark after letting the ball fall to him behind the backline only for him to lift his chip way over the bar. A whole host of changes were made by both tacticians to give time to youngsters and inject more energy in the match after the hour mark. BFC came close yet again to extend their lead courtesy of Chhetri whose powerful drive was parried away by Suvam Sen in SCEB’s goal. Ananta Tamang and Sen had to combine a few minutes later to deny the second goal to Chhetri, keeping their team in the hunt. Despite SCEB’s best efforts, the Blues kept their lead intact and secured the three points. #HeroISL #IndianSuperLeague #LetsFootball 🔊 LIKE ➡ SHARE ➡ SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa... Jamshedpur FC knocked Hyderabad FC off their perch with a clinical 3-0 victory over them in a top-of-the-table rescheduled Hero Indian Super League encounter at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim here on Tuesday. The result saw Jamshedpur qualify for the semis for the first time. The only blemish in an otherwise spotless performance was the sending off of Mobashir Rahman in the 68th minute. Chinglensana Singh (5th OG) scored an own goal to help Jamshedpur take the lead before skipper Peter Hartley (28th) doubled the lead with Daniel Chima Chukwu (65th) extending his rich vein of form with his fifth goal since joining Jamshedpur to crown a brilliant performance. Jamshedpur now are in pole position with 37 points from 18 matches, two more than Hyderabad (35 points) with a game in hand. The result is more credible as Jamshedpur won against the leaders without Greg Stewart who has been arguably their best player. Stewart is serving a one-match suspension after picking up four yellow cards. Hyderabad made a lot of changes to the side from the last game with Bart Ogbeche also not kept in the mix. The game started on a frantic note, Chinglensana putting the ball in his own net after a Mobashir Rahman low shot took a wicked deflection off his foot and wrongfooted goalkeeper Gurmeet Singh, playing for the first time this season in place of seasoned custodian Laxmikant Kattimani. The early goal hurt the league leaders as they shifted gears, seeing more of the ball in the final third with Jamshedpur pressing them higher up the park. Aniket Jadhav pulled wide after beating his marker with a neat piece of skill while the yellow shirts seemed to be finding their mojo. But Jamshedpur doubled their advantage from a set piece. Alexandre Lima swung in a delightful corner for Hartley to leap highest and head home across the face of goal leaving Gurmeet rooted to his spot. At halftime, the Men of Steel led 2-0 and in the second half, the Owen Coyle-coached side never took their foot off the pedal. Hartley came close to doubling his goal tally from a corner and Chima dragged wide from close. The in-form Nigerian did not have to wait too long though for a goal, slotting home a botched Khassa Camara clearance which was set up for him by Lima. Three minutes later, Mobashir was given the marching orders for his rash behaviour after hacking down Akash Mishra. Hyderabad could have pulled one back but Javier Siverio missed from close range as Jamshedpur capped off a perfect night. #HeroISL #LetsFootball #IndianSuperLeague 🔊 LIKE ➡ SHARE ➡ SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa... NorthEast United played a 1-1 draw in their final league game of the season against fellow strugglers SC East Bengal in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at the Tilak Maidan Stadium. Goals from Marco Sahanek and Antonio Perosevic managed to split the points either way as Khalid Jamil’s men ended the season with only three wins. As for SC East Bengal, their winless run extended to seven matches. Marco Sahanek (45+1’) scored his first goal for NEUFC to give them the lead in the first half but the equaliser came through Antonio Perosevic (55’ P) who scored from a precise penalty. Two good chances fell SCEB’s way in the early stages with Lalrinliana Hnamte making the goalkeeper pull off a good save and Mahesh Naorem Singh hitting the crossbar from long-range. NEUFC survived another scare after the half-hour mark as a volley by Antonio Perosevic missed the target by a whisker. However, it was the Highlanders that took the lead just a minute before the halftime whistle. A header from Deshorn Brown hit the left post and fell kindly to Marco Sahanek who made no mistake and buried his left-footed shot into the bottom-right corner. Thanks to that goal, NEUFC went into the break with their noses in front. The second half did not begin according to plan for Khalid Jamil and co as Patrick Flottmann’s push on Fran Sota during an aerial battle was deemed as a foul in the box, leading to a penalty. Perosevic scored the equaliser from the penalty spot, after sending Mirshad Michu towards the wrong way. Marcelinho came off the bench for NEUFC to inject some energy in the final third and combined with Suhair but the latter’s volley was expertly punched away by Sankar Roy in goal. Four minutes were added for stoppages but neither team had the cutting edge to score the winner in the end. With nothing to separate the teams, the game ended in a draw, much to the disappointment for both sets of players. SC East Bengal will pull the curtains on their ISL season by playing Bengaluru FC at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Saturday while NorthEast United’s campaign has come to an end. #HeroISL #LetsFootball #IndianSuperLeague 🔊 LIKE ➡ SHARE ➡ SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa... Game 61 of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 saw ATK Mohun Bagan (ATKMB) going up against former champion Bengaluru FC (BFC). Played at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda (Goa) on Sunday, ATKMB came up with a 2-0 win to inch closer to the semis berth. You can watch all the match highlights here. The opening half saw 13 attacks, including a save from BFC goalkeeper Lara Sharma. However, at the stroke of half-time, Liston Colaco fired ATKMB into the lead in a lone action, as it was 1-0 at the break. Eight more attempts were made initially in the second half, with Colaco hitting the bar, while Lara made another save. However, Manvir Singh doubled ATKMB's lead in the 85th in yet another solo effort. Six more chances were followed, including a save from ATKMB keeper Amrinder Singh. While BFC fought hard to bounce back, the ATKMB defence was too strong to budge, as the latter comfortably walked away with the three points, just points away from booking its place in the semis, while the former is out of the race. #HeroISL #LetsFootball #IndianSuperLeague 🔊 LIKE ➡ SHARE ➡ SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa... ATK Mohun Bagan moved to the top of the table and Kerala Blasters FC entered the top-four after the two sides played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the 2021-22 Hero Indian Super League at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Saturday. Adrian Luna (7', 64') opened the scoring for Kerala before David Williams (8') drew level inside one minute. In the second half, Luna scored his second and handed Kerala the lead back but in stoppage time Joni Kauko (90+7') made it 2-2 to break Kerala hearts. The result means Kerala now have 27 points from 16 games and sit in fourth place while ATK Mohun Bagan moved to the top of the table for the time being with 30 points from 16 outings. The game was off to a frantic start as both teams scored in the space of one minute. Kerala took the lead inside the first eight minutes, Luna curling in a sumptous free kick up and over the wall and into the left corner leaving Amrinder Singh stranded in ATKMB goal. One minute later, ATKMB equalised. Pritam Kotal sent in a low cross first time for Williams to thump home on the run. Both teams settled down a bit after the high-tempo start before Liston Colaco's effort was palmed away by Prabhsukhan Gill and Lalthathanga Khawlhring's rasping left-footer was tipped onto the crossbar by Amrinder for a corner. Alvaro Vazquez also saw his first-time attempt sail over the woodwork after Jorge Diaz did well to set up his teammate. At halftime, both teams were level at 1-1. At the start of the second half, ATKMB head coach Juan Ferrando replaced goalscorer Williams with Hugo Boumous and the Frenchman did have an impact, controlling play in the middle of the park and drawing fouls in important areas of the pitch. But it was Kerala who took the lead for the second time in the match. Luna scored a peach of a goal after Khawlhring got the ball on the edge of the box and chipped it to Luna who chested it down, cut in and slammed the ball into the top corner. Both teams traded punches till the last minute with substitute Kiyan Nasiri getting a golden opportunity to draw level but for a brilliant block. From the resultant corner, Sandesh Jhingan's header was tipped over the bar. Prabir Das was sent off moments later for a rash challenged on Luna as the game reached feverpitch before Kauko made it 2-2 from a Boumous pass inside the box, the Finland international letting fly a powerful shot past Gill and into the goal. Diaz was also shown a red card when he was on the bench for dissent. #HeroISL #LetsFootball #IndianSuperLeague 🔊 LIKE ➡ SHARE ➡ SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa... Jamshedpur FC frittered a two-goal advantage but came back just in time to grab a late winner and move to third in the points table with a nerve-racking 3-2 victory over Mumbai City FC in a rescheduled Hero Indian Super League tie at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim on Thursday. Greg Stewart (9th) opened the floodgates early on to give Jamshedpur the lead with Ritwik Das (30th) doubling the margin. In the second half, Rahul Bheke (57th) pulled one back for Mumbai before Igor Angulo missed a penalty but that didn't matter as Diego Mauricio converted from the spot in the 86th minute to leave the game on a knife's edge. Stewart then converted a penalty in added time to seal the issue. Jamshedpur now have 28 points from 15 games, one adrift of leaders Hyderabad FC but with a game in hand. ATK Mohun Bagan, placed second, are also on 29 points with 15 matches, the same as Jamshedpur. Mumbai remain fifth with 25 points from 16 matches. Jamshedpur started on the front foot and got their reward after just nine minutes. A brilliant piece of teamwork saw Jitendra Singh pass the ball to Boris Singh just outside the box with the latter relaying it to Ritwik Das who back-flicked it to an unmarked Greg Stewart. The Scottish attacking midfielder slammed home from close to make it three goals in two games as Owen Coyle's team showed early intent. Mumbai were dealt another blow when midfield linchpin Ahmed Jahouh had to be taken off after he was hit on the shoe. Vinit Rai replaced him. At the half-hour mark, Jamshedpur double their lead. Ritwik was on target this time, having to tap in the easiest of finishes with no one tracking him down after Daniel Chima Chukwu acrobatically sent in a low cross from the edge of the byline. Jamshedpur went into the break with a 2-0 lead with Mumbai snapping at their heels. In the second period, Bheke halved the margin by making the most of the ball coming at his feet after Igor Angulo's attempt was saved by Rehenesh. Mumbai kept putting pressure on Jamshedpur and it paid off when Peter Hartley fouled Mourtada Fall inside the area and the referee pointed to the spot. Angulo's effort though was saved by Rehenesh who got up to make another save showing brilliant reflexes. Angulo was replaced by Diego Mauricio in the 89th minute and the Brazilian striker made an immediate impact, being fouled by Hartley inside the box. Mauricio stepped up and slotted the ball in the centre to make it 2-2 and with four minutes remaining in the game, it was set for an end-to-end encounter. It was heartbreak in the end for Mumbai after the ball hit Vignesh Dakshinamurthy's arm for the third penalty of the game. Stewart sent the keeper the wrong way to hand Jamshedpur the much-needed win and all three points. #HeroISL #LetsFootball #IndianSuperLeague 🔊 LIKE ➡ SHARE ➡ SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa...
