Die Türken deckten aber nicht nur bei den Treffern von Ferdi Kadioglu (38.) und Kenan Yildiz (45.+2) die Defizite in der Rückwärtsbewegung auf. Leroy Sané hätte in der 16. Minute erhöhen können, schoss aber aus 18 Metern sowohl am weit heraus geeilten Keeper Altay Bayindir wie auch am Tor vorbei. Nach einer starken Anfangsphase schlichen sich bei Julian Nagelsmanns Schützlingen allerdings immer mehr die schon aus den vergangenen Monaten bekannten Wackler in der Defensive ein. Gerade an diesen Schwächen wollte der Bundestrainer beim aktuellen Lehrgang eigentlich arbeiten, um die Zahl der Gegentreffer zu verringern. Fast schon folgerichtig fiel der Ausgleich für die nun immer stärker werdenden Türken: Benjamin Henrichs und Sané ließen Ferdi Kadioglu in ihrem Rücken entwischen, der türkische Wirbelwind vollstreckte eiskalt ins kurze Eck. Wieder also gelang der deutschen Mannschaft nicht das erhoffte Zu-Null-Spiel. Und es kam noch schlimmer: Kurz vor der Pause flog ein Diagonalball von Kaan Ayhan über den eingerückten Henrichs hinweg, dahinter war Yildiz ganz allein. Der in Regensburg geborene und beim FC Bayern ausgebildete 18-Jährige drosch die Kugel herrlich in den rechten Torwinkel, Trapp war wieder chancenlos (45.+2). Die Pausen-Ansprache von Nagelsmann zeigte dann aber schnell Wirkung. Schon mit dem ersten Angriff stellte seine Elf auf 2:2: Florian Wirtz fand nach schönem Solo den bis dahin komplett abgemeldeten Füllkrug, der mit einem trockenen Flachschuss sein zehntes Tor im zwölften Länderspiel erzielte. Doch kurz darauf folgte der nächste Schreckmoment, als Dortmunds Salih Özcan aus 18 Metern den Außenpfosten des deutschen Tores traf (52.). Die DFB-Auswahl bekam die Partie einfach nicht mehr in den Griff, weil die Türken mit großer Leidenschaft dagegenhielten und ihnen auch der Videobeweis half: Ein diskutables Handspiel von Havertz ahndete der polnische Schiedsrichter Bartosz Frankowski mit einem Elfmeter. Yusuf Sari überwand Kevin Trapp, der noch mit den Fingern am Ball war. Serge Gnabry hatte noch die Chance zum Ausgleich, rutschte aber knapp an einer Flanke von Henrichs vorbei (86.).
