The Colorado Avalanche grabbed a 3-1 series lead as they beat the Minnesota Wild 4-2 at Grand Casino Arena on Monday night. The Wild grabbed the lead in the first period on a Power Play goal by Danila Yurov , but the Avalanche responded in the second on a Power Play goal from Nazem Kadri. The Avs scored 4 goals in the 3rd period, including empty netters from Nathan MacKinnon and Brock Nelson to take control of the series with only one win needed to close things out and 3 chances to get it. Jesper Wallstedt stopped 29 of 32 shots in net for the Wild, who will try to stave off elimination on Wednesday in Colorado. The Minnesota Wild responded in a big way with a 5-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche to win their first round 2 game since the 2015 season. The Wild grabbed the early lead on a goal for Kirill Kaprizov, and followed it with Quinn Hughes' 4th goal of the postseason to make it 2-0 in the 1st. Ryan Hartman added a Power Play goal in the 2nd to make it 3-0, before the Avs added a Power Play goal of their own to make it 3-1. Brock Faber scored 20 seconds later to make it a 3 goal lead once again. The scoring held until late in the 3rd period, when Matt Boldy scored an empty netter to seal the 5-1 win. Jesper Wallstedt was fantastic in net with 34 saves on 35 shots.
