The FIA has officially confirmed that Red Bull overspent and breached Formula 1’s cost cap regulations during Max Verstappen’s first title-winning season in 2021. But the much-anticipated announcement from the governing body contained no details of the exact nature or precise scale of the breach, and said the penalty was still being discussed. Ferrari and Mercedes have made very clear they believe the laptime value of even what’s officially classed as a ‘minor’ breach would be considerable, and have already called for “severe” action long before the official announcement. But Red Bull refuses to back down. Not only does it remain adamant it came in under the cost cap for 2021, it has promised to follow the FIA’s processes to challenge the outcome, and hasn’t ruled out taking further action if necessary. To work out what happens next in this saga, Glenn Freeman is joined by Edd Straw and Ben Anderson to discuss all the details. #F1 #RedBull #F1costcap READ MORE HERE https://the-race.com/formula-1/our-verdict-on-red-bull-f1-overspend-and-wait-for-penalty/
“If I hit it, I would be dead right now”. That was Pierre Gasly’s damning assessment of the potential consequences of the FIA allowing a recovery vehicle to be on track during the Japanese Grand Prix. The AlphaTauri driver was horrified to pass the parked truck while catching up with the safety car pack on the second lap of the race at Suzuka. It was an incident that enraged drivers and fans alike, which perhaps explains why the FIA initially seemed keen to brush this off with a statement that appeared to put the focus on Gasly’s driving. Gasly’s reaction - and that of his fellow drivers, clearly had an impact on the FIA, which has launched a ‘thorough review’ into what happened. #F1 #JapaneseGP #FIA READ OUR VERDICT https://the-race.com/formula-1/f1-looked-farcical-our-verdict-on-controversial-japanese-gp/ Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace
