T20 Big Bash tips by Richard Mann Adelaide Strikers v Melbourne Renegades

T20 Big Bash tips by Richard Mann: Adelaide Strikers v Melbourne Renegades. Richard Mann previews the upcoming matches in the Big Bash with reigning champions Adelaide Strikers back in action. 4pts Adelaide Strikers to beat Melbourne Renegades at 13/18 4pts Hobart Hurricanes to beat Melbourne Stars 17/20 2pts Callum Ferguson top Sydney Thunder batsman at 5/1 Adelaide Strikers v Melbourne Renegades (Dec 23) Reigning champions Adelaide Strikers kicked off this season's Big Bash with a comfortable five-wicket away win against Brisbane Heat and back on home turf, they look a good bet at 13/18 to take down Melbourne Renegades on Sunday morning. The Strikers made Adelaide quite the fortress last year, going unbeaten on their home patch throughout the competition before overpowering Hobart Hurricanes in the final back at the same venue. With the pitch generally flat and true, it takes a good attack to prosper here and the Strikers have one of the best in T20 cricket with Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan leading a bowling unit that also features Peter Siddle and Billy Stanlake. Despite the continued loss of Travis Head due to international duty, the batting remains highly serviceable with the exciting Alex Carey ably supported by Colin Ingram and Jake Weatherald, and they should have too many guns for the Renegades. Minus Aaron Finch and the outgoing Dwayne Bravo, the Renegades look light on star quality this season despite their opening victory over Perth Scorchers. The Renegades bundled out the Scorchers for only 103 but the fact they found themselves reduced to 17-4 in reply is an indication of the frailties that exist in their line-up. The Strikers are a highly-skilled and professional outfit and won't be as forgiving as Perth were, especially in home conditions. Betting at odds-on in T20 cricket can be fraught with danger but there are exceptions and the Strikers rate a good bet here. Hobart Hurricanes v Melbourne Stars (Dec 24) Last season's runners-up Hobart Hurricanes made a winning start when beating Brisbane Heat on Saturday and look serious players again this year. Exciting young batsmen D'Arcy Short and Ben McDermott both showcased their obvious talent in that victory and former - back in home comforts after a frustrating time away from Australia in the last 12 months - looks set for a big few weeks. Short blasted 67 from 52 balls against Brisbane, clearly appreciating pace on the ball on the return to flat, hard Australian pitches having struggled against spin in the IPL and on Australia's recent tour of Dubai. The Hurricanes are 17/20 to complete back-to-back wins on Monday and with Jofra Archer and new recruit Johan Botha giving captain George a potent mix of firepower and control with the ball, they look well worth supporting. The Stars are very much a side in transition and looked well short of the required standard when comfortably beaten by Sydney Thunder in their rain affected game on Friday. With Stars stalwarts Kevin Pietersen and Luke Wright now a distant memory, much of the responsibility will fall on the shoulders of captain Glenn Maxwell and he needs a big season if his side are to compete against the big boys. Sydney Thunder v Sydney Sixers (Dec 24) Both Sydney sides made winning starts to the competition and this local derby could easily go either way. I'm again keen to look at the top Sydney Thunder batsman market for a bet with Callum Ferguson, a loser for the column on Friday, afforded another chance at 5/1. Ferguson was a 13/2 chance on that occasion, owing to the fact that many observers would have expected the South Australian to bat below Joe Root in the batting order. Nevertheless, the classy Ferguson came in at number three on Friday following an impressive run of form in the warm-up fixtures that came on the back of a strong Vitality Blast campaign for Worcestershire earlier in the

Hilton Moreeng (Head Coach, Proteas Women) - announcement of World T20 squad

Shabnim Ismail and Trisha Chetty are in the Proteas Women squad for the first ever stand-alone ICC Women’s World T20 to be held in the West Indies from 9-24 November 2018. The sixth edition of the 10-team tournament will take place across three venues – Antigua, Saint Lucia and Guyana. The selectors have kept the bulk of the squad that recently completed a tour of the Windies, with the return of stalwarts Ismail and Chetty to finish off the dangerous-looking squad. Fast bowler Ayabonga Khaka has not sufficiently recovered from her shoulder surgery and was not considered for selection. Three of the four newest members of the team that toured the West Indies have also received the nod. Tumi Sekhukhune, Robyn Searle and Saarah Smith will make their World Cup debuts. It will be a doubly exciting tournament with the Decision Review System (DRS) being used in an ICC World T20 for the very first time. South Africa will play in Group A in St Lucia against defending champions West Indies, England, Sri Lanka and World Cup Qualifier winners Bangladesh. Group B comprises Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and Ireland. ‘Good luck to our Proteas Ladies as they head for the West Indies with high expectations for the ICC Women’s World T20,’ commented CSA chief executive Thabang Moroe. ‘They reached the semi-final of this tournament in Bangladesh in 2014 and came agonisingly close to a first appearance in a final in last year’s ICC Women’s World Cup in England. ‘The time has now arrived for them to take that next step forward and get into the championship match. They can take a lot of justifiable confidence out of their recently completed tour of the West Indies where they drew both the ODI and T20 Series against their hosts who are the defending champions for the ICC World T20. ‘They also had to make do without a number of key players. From CSA’s perspective, we have left no stone unturned in our support for Dane [van Niekerk] and her team to put them on the same level of preparation as our Proteas’ men’s team,’ concluded Moroe. Victor Mete Shift-By-Shift vs. Sudbury (Jan. 6th, 2017)

A shift-by-shift video of Victor Mete, the 100th overall pick in last summer's NHL Entry Draft. Michael Pezzetta, a sixth rounder in the same draft, is #13 in White+Blue. Read this before you watch it, m'kay? I do NOT own this video. This video is property of Rogers TV, the London Knights, and the Ontario Hockey League. If you enjoyed this, go buy OHL Live. If you any questions, comments, suggestions, or criticisms, feel free to tweet me (@MitchLBrown) or send me an email (mitchbrown31@gmail.com). Want version without editing AND/OR think I'm stupid? Here's a version without editing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gSGCW8ixN8 Don't formulate your entire opinion of a prospect on a video, including this one as comprehensive as it may be. Or do, I don't care. Just don't '@' me in that case. If want to read more about Mete, please check out my article on Habs Eyes on the Prize: http://www.habseyesontheprize.com/2016/10/16/13227722/victor-mete-the-london-knights-defensive-stalwart-analysis-video-breakdown-scouting-profile; and this one on All About the Habs: http://www.allaboutthehabs.ca/2016-top-30-habs-prospects-15-11/ Why I choose this game in particular: Random. It worked out nicely because it showcases lots of Mete's game: The offensive rushes, excellent gap control, and defensive zone coverage, as well as some of the mishaps. Will I be making more? No. Actually, maybe after I get back from Sweden in June. We'll see.

FED CUP 2012: MOHUN BAGAN VS CHURCHILL BROTHERS
FED CUP 2012: MOHUN BAGAN VS CHURCHILL BROTHERS

Mohun Bagan and Churchill Bros. have started their Fed Cup campaign at Siliguri as the green and maroon brigrade have managed to earn a point largely because of their goal-keeper Arindam Bhattacharya's stalwart performence. The match is ended to a goal-less draw but Churchill were clearly the better side of the night. Churchill owner Alemao Churchill has filed an impeachment against the referee as the official denied a clear goal from Beto. Meanwhile Tolgay Ozbey has extended the woes for Bagan as he picked up a major injury in the hamstring and thus goes out of the Fed Cup.
