The reaggravation of the right quad strain that forced George Springer to miss almost all of April, caused the three-time All-Star to miss this weekend's three-game series against the team with which he spent the first seven years of his career, though the 2017 World Series MVP did make the trip to Houston. Hector Ledesma has reaction following a set that saw the Astros take two of three. For the latest of local, regional and national sports, subscribe to our YouTube channel and like us on social media. It’s the Spurs most impressive showing in consecutive games since wins in Los Angeles vs. the Lakers and Clippers. While Saturday’s blowout in Phoenix sticks out much more than last night’s win in Indianapolis, the 109-94 victory against the Pacers caps a good mini two-game road trip. But while San Antonio was in control throughout in Indy, the contest wasn’t without incident. Hector Ledesma has highlights, details and reaction. The Bears close the regular season with an 88-73 win vs. Texas Tech to finish 21-1, including 13-1 in the Big 12. Though third-ranked Baylor clinched the conference’s regular season championship on Tuesday at West Virginia and though they hosted Oklahoma State Thursday, Scott Drew’s team waited until yesterday’s ‘Senior Day’ to cut down the nets. It also capped the Bears first undefeated season at home since 1947-1948. MaCio Teague led all scorers with 35 points, tying a school record with 10 three-pointers against the 18th-ranked Red Raiders. Hector Ledesma has reaction ahead of the Baylor’s next game, which comes Thursday in the Big 12 Tournament vs. an opponent that’s to be determined. Thanks to a buzzer-beater from Spurs point guard Dejounte Murray, the San Antonio Spurs forced overtime in their game against the Brooklyn Nets Monday night. However, James Harden and Kyrie Irving proved to be too much down the stretch, as the Spurs fell 124-113. The Brooklyn Nets were without their star player Kevin Durant, while the Spurs still had five players out due to the league’s health and safety protocols. “I thought they were great,” said head coach Gregg Popovich. “They really worked hard. You know they’ve dugged done deep all year, they never give in, and tonight was another good example.” Irving and Harden combined for 57 points, while DeMar DeRozan led the way for San Antonio with 22 points. The Spurs have a quick turnaround as they get ready to face the New York Knicks Tuesday night. The San Antonio Spurs powered past the short-handed Charlotte Hornets Sunday night 122-110. The Spurs are now 2-0 to start their Rodeo Road Trip. Spurs guard Derrick White finished with a season-high 25 points, while point guard Dejounte Murray led the way with a team-high 26 points. Spurs veteran DeMar DeRozan was the main defensive focus for the Charlotte Hornets during the game. DeRozan attempted just eight shots and finished with only eight points. “They had a lot of attention on him from the jump,” White said of DeRozan. “But he’s a great passer and we used their aggressiveness against them.” Terry Rozier scored 33 points for the Hornets, who played without leading scorer Gordon Hayward because of a sore back. P.J. Washington, Caleb Martin, and Cody Martin sat out due to health and safety protocols. The Nuggets only scheduled game in San Antonio for the 2019-2020 season was set for late March. Because of the pandemic, the game occurred in Orlando in August instead. Hector Ledesma previews tonight’s home game vs. Denver, set for a 7:30 start, and has reaction from Keldon Johnson who wasn’t yet on the team the last time the Spurs made the playoffs but remembers the 2019 playoff match-up between the two teams. Though we’re still relatively early in the season, had someone told Spurs fans in the preseason that 14 games in, their team would have a better record than the Mavericks, most San Antonians would have taken that in a second. It’s not much off a difference but at 8-7, the Spurs sit 8th in the Western Conference while Dallas is right behind them at 7-7. Hector Ledesma previews tonight’s game, which essentially starts an extended home stand, with reaction.
