METS POSTCAST: LIFELESS Offense And Three ERRORS Add Up To A Series L
METS POSTCAST: LIFELESS Offense And Three ERRORS Add Up To A Series L

Three errors and just four hits was the recipe for a New York Mets series loss, as they fell to the D-backs 5-1. It was more of the same for the Mets, who didn't get their first hit since the sixth inning. And dating back to the 5th inning of yesterday's game, the Mets went 22 straight batters without getting on base. The Mets went the entire series without getting a hit from the top three of their lineup, making that much more difficult for the offense to do much of anything. Pitching wise, the Mets were betrayed by some sloppy defense. They committed three errors and it was the last one that came back to bite them as part of a three-run inning for Arizona that saw the put the game out of reach. POSTCAST host Chris Schubert breaks down all the action. Everydayer Club If you never miss an episode, it’s time to make it official. The Final Ball That Made Everyone FURIOUS 🔥 #cricket #betrayal #shorts

1981 mein Australia ne ek underarm ball se puri cricket duniya ko shock kar diya — aur cricket ka rule book hamesha ke liye badal gaya. The story of the most controversial moment in cricket history: the Greg Chappell underarm bowling scandal, Australia vs New Zealand, World Series Cup final. On 1 February 1981, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Australia faced New Zealand in the final of the World Series Cup. With one ball remaining and New Zealand needing six runs to tie, Australian captain Greg Chappell made a decision no one saw coming. He instructed his younger brother, Trevor Chappell, to bowl the final delivery underarm — rolling it along the ground, making a six physically impossible for batsman Brian McKechnie. McKechnie could only watch, drop his bat, and walk off in disgust. Australia had won. But the cricket world erupted. Commentary legend Richie Benaud called it the most disgraceful act he had ever witnessed on a cricket ground. Ian Chappell — Greg's own brother, commentating live that day — shouted "No Greg, no!" on air. Both the Australian and New Zealand Prime Ministers publicly condemned the decision. The International Cricket Council responded by banning underarm bowling permanently. One delivery. One captain's decision. An entire rule of cricket changed. Forty-five years later, this moment remains the defining example of how winning at all costs can betray the spirit of the game — and force cricket to rewrite its own laws. 🏏 Cricket Ka Itihaas, Har Roz — @TheWicketArchive 📺 Subscribe: youtube.com/@TheWicketArchive 📱 Instagram: @thewicketarchive

🏒 Instant analysis from the #Flyers OT loss to end the season in Game 4 against the #Hurricanes.

The Philadelphia Flyers' playoff run came to a heartbreaking end as they were swept by the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs, losing 3-2 in an overtime thriller. The decisive moment occurred when Jackson Blake scored his second goal of the game, sending the Flyers home after a series filled with tension and resilience. The Flyers initially took the lead with a goal from Tyson Foerster in the first period, but the Hurricanes quickly equalized through Blake. The game saw a back-and-forth struggle, with Carolina taking the lead before the Flyers equalized again with a goal from Alex Bump. Despite a valiant effort, including a standout performance from goalie Dan Vladar, who made 37 saves, the Flyers couldn’t capitalize on their chances, going 0-for-3 on power plays. Call or text 988 DAY OR NIGHT or visit mantherapy.org ----------------------------------- Following his acquisition by the Cincinnati Reds, veteran right-hander Pierce Johnson enters the 2026 season as a highly viable candidate for the closer role, bringing a high-octane, curveball-heavy approach to the ninth inning. While often utilized as a setup man throughout his career, Johnson's previous experience and recent metrics suggest he has the high-leverage pedigree required to anchor the Reds' bullpen. Previous Experience and Save Success Johnson has extensive late-inning experience, culminating in a breakout 2023 season split between Colorado and Atlanta, where he set a career-high with 13 saves. During his stint with the Braves that same year, he posted an impressive 0.76 ERA across 24 appearances, proving he can dominate in high-stakes environments. While primarily a setup option in 2024 and 2025, Johnson continued to garner save opportunities. His reliability is underscored by his ability to maintain high strikeout numbers, with a career-high 90 strikeouts in 2023, showcasing his ability to generate swings-and-misses in crucial moments. Metrics and Performance as a Red Early in the 2026 season, Johnson has demonstrated solid performance, solidifying his role in the Reds' late-inning mix, often working alongside Emilio Pagán. He has shown an ability to limit damage and maintain a strong presence in high-leverage spots. His 2026 metrics highlight continued elite strikeout capability. In early May 2026, he was noted for having a 0.00 ERA over his previous 7 days, and even picking up saves. His 2025 season with Atlanta saw a 3.05 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP over 65 appearances, demonstrating consistency. Why He is Viable as Closer Johnson's viability is anchored in his unique arsenal, specifically his curveball, which he throws at a very high rate—sometimes over 70% of his pitches, among the highest in MLB. This breaking ball, paired with a four-seam fastball that averages around 94–96 MPH, allows him to create significant movement and miss bats frequently. In 2023, his strikeout percentage ranked in the 96th percentile league-wide. While he can be prone to the long ball at times, his ability to generate swing-and-miss (91st percentile whiff rate in 2023) makes him an ideal candidate to close out tight games for Cincinnati. His veteran presence, especially having been a key piece in the Braves' bullpen, provides the composure needed for the ninth inning. Johnson brings a proven track record of handling pressure, a high strikeout rate, and a reliable arsenal, making him arguably the best candidate to secure saves for the 2026 Reds.
