KATY, Texas – The reigning Southland Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament champions will have an opportunity for a second-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. A blistering offensive performance in the first half enabled second seed Abilene Christian to topple determined sixth seed Lamar 93-71 in Friday’s semifinal, putting the Wildcats in Saturday’s championship game against top seed Nicholls on ESPN2 at 8:30 p.m. CT, with the winner earning the conference’s automatic tourney bid. “We knew the start of the game would be important. We knew that if we got off to a good start, that would help us,” said ACU coach Joe Golding. “I thought our guys did a tremendous job of doing that and wearing them down.” Playing their third game in as many nights, the Cardinals (10-18) saw their six-game win streak come an end as ACU (22-4) shot 61 percent from the field in the first half to build a 52-29 halftime lead. On their way to a 14th win in their last 16 games, the Wildcats never trailed while building as much as a 26-point lead. All-Conference first teamer Kolton Kohl and Airion Simmons each scored 14 points for the Wildcats in the first half. Kohl finished with 20 points, six rebounds and three assists in just 21 minutes of play, while Simmons provided 16 of ACU’s 46 points off the bench. “We ran into a buzzsaw,” said Lamar coach Tic Price. “They turned turnovers (16) into points (29). They took us out of our sets. We struggled running our half-court sets. Lamar got within 5-4 in the early stages, but the Cardinals could not keep pace with an ACU team that defeated twice in the regular season. The effort was clearly there from Lamar, yet as the Wildcats began to feed off the energy from the strong contingent of ACU fans in Merrell Center, the game started to get away from them. Even with the huge halftime lead, the Wildcats came out of the locker determined not to get complacent and overlook the Cards. “Coach was telling us to have a chip on our shoulders,” said Simmons, who knocked down three of ACU’s nine 3-pointers. However, the Cardinals refused to fold. A Lincoln Smith basket brought Lamar within shouting distance at 60-44 with 12:19 left. ACU missed 11 of their first 14 shots in the second half due in part to the Cards playing their best defensive stretch of the night. The brief offensive lapse did not bother ACU, who proceeded to put together a 21-8 run to give them an 81-52 cushion with 5:37 left. The Wildcats led by as many as 34 points as they played their reserves over the final few moments. “At the end of the day, I thought the combination of their defense and us having tired legs put us in a pretty bad position,” said Price. Anderson Kopp scored 23 points to lead Lamar, which will return up to nine players, including All-Defensive Team member David Muoka, for the 2021-22 season. Having been denied a chance to defend their title last season due to the pandemic, the Wildcats – who did not play against Nicholls in the regular season – have no intentions of letting the opportunity slip away. “I think the biggest thing for me and the younger guys is to continue to push,” said Kohl.

5 Times Stephen Curry Proved Us WRONG
5 Times Stephen Curry Proved Us WRONG

Stephen Curry has been doubted and he’s proved us wrong so many times in the NBA. #Curry #NBA #warriors Second Channel Vid- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZWAssCaz6YHMXGziCKtdPw Twitch- https://www.twitch.tv/mjallday2k Discord- https://discord.gg/RSUxXmU Tik Tok- https://vm.tiktok.com/wfx5vW/ REACTION CHANNEL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQRMHGayBNY&t=516s The OUTRO song is OUT!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SUYj3SUdUw Instagram- @MJ2K_ALLDAY Twitter- @mj2kallday The Warriors survive Game 5 and now it’s the Rockets turn at home to win and force a Game 7. I mean how could a Warriors team that was 2-2 in the series with KD beat the Rockets without KD, that’s what everyone was thinking. Game 6 starts and Curry can’t buy a bucket. He’s just missing shots he usually makes. Steph ends the half with 0 points and NBA Twitter, well they do what they do best Curry was getting roasted, disrespected, people were saying he was not the same Curry, that he was letting KD down. Like Bogut said “"He'll check his mentions at halftime when he has a bad half. It's the craziest s--t I ever saw, Yeah, Steph, if he had a bad half, he would go on social media and then come out and drop 30 [in the second half]." Steph did drop 30… 33 points to be exact, in the second half. He had 23 points in the 4th quarter including 8 points in a minute and a half to put the Warriors ahead for good. Curry created his own shots, without KD. Curry’s first few years in the league were rough, unfortunately, Curry’s ankles were as fragile as glass. That’s actually what was being said about him. His ankles just were twisting randomly and he got surgery after his second season to clean ankle debris, but in 2011-2012, Curry could barely stay on the court and had to get his second ankle surgery. Despite having a solid rookie and second season, showing a lot of promise, there were trade rumors that the Warriors would trade Curry and move in a different direction. Monta Ellis was supposed to be the direction the Warriors were gonna go with, but they couldn’t agree to any trade involving Steph. And when that happened, they decided to trade Monta Ellis for the Bucks. Curry signed an extension with the Warriors while rehabbing from his second surgery. That extension was a 4 year $44 million dollar deal. The rest of the NBA had mixed reactions, some thought that was too much for a guy that couldn’t be on the court, some thought it was pretty fair. Curry heard the talk. And he made sure he was gonna breakout. In the 2012-2013 season, the Warriors would finish 47-35. Curry would breakout, he would play in 78 games averaging 38 minutes a game. Not only that, he would average 23 points, 7 assists, was an All-Star snub and got the Warriors to the second round where he was one of the best players in the playoffs. And just like that, Curry was worth more than the contract, more than just the glass ankles. That disrespect didn’t stop in the NBA even after Curry had just averaged 23 and 7 shooting 45% from 3 even after his ankles were good. Nike had a chance to sign Curry after the 2012-2013 season, after the Warriors had made the second round in the playoffs, after Curry was beginning to play like an All-Star. He was already a Nike athlete, but in their pitch meeting, they started by pronouncing Stephen’s name as Steph-on. In one of their slides, they had left Kevin Durant’s name in there. They fumbled the bag. He became the most popular athlete in the world, his jersey was the most sold for 3 consecutive years. In 2016, Steph was worth 14 billion dollars to Under Armour. In the 2013-2014 season, Curry became a first time All-Star. Nike even had a chance to match Under Armour’s offer, but they didn’t. He immediately proved Nike wrong and that’s what he wanted to do, because at that point, he had been used to being overlooked and so Under Armour actually valued him and now Curry has his own brand. The most recent example was this season on January 3rd. You know when everyone magically just forgot about Curry being a unanimous MVP, oh yeah, that Curry was apparently washed, couldn’t lead the Warriors to the playoffs, that Dame was better. The Warriors were 2-3 up till that point and had just lost by almost 40 against the Trail Blazers on January 1st. Hmmm, yeah all that talk that worked out really well. Curry came in on January 3rd after hearing all the noise , charged up. After the game, he said he took all the talk personally. What did he do during the game? Dropped 62 points. Yeah, he had 21 in the first quarter. Every type of shot, handles. Just Curry being Curry. Curry’s been listening and he wants to respond to all the criticisms. He leads the league in total points and now we have the “Curry’s back” tweets, comments, but really he never left. He was just injured last season and he’s been capable of this for years. But y’all just forgot right.
