Should the Edmonton Oilers Hire Bruce Cassidy? Breaking Down the potential Coaching Search

Should Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch keep his job after a first-round exit to the Anaheim Ducks? Nick Zararis breaks down the full case: the numbers, the politics, and the candidates waiting in the wings to give you the most honest answer you'll hear this offseason. What's covered: Has Kris Knoblauch actually gotten worse results from the Oilers each season? The 3-year even strength decline, explained in plain numbers Why firing a coach in the NHL is more of a political decision than a hockey one — and what that means for General Manager Stan Bowman Bruce Cassidy: Is the Stanley Cup-winning coach really available, and would he actually take the Edmonton job? John Cooper: Why he might be the best coach in the NHL right now — and why that still might not matter for the Oilers Connor McDavid's contract situation in 2027 and how the coaching decision this summer could directly affect it Why Knoblauch's .624 points percentage makes him the best Oilers coach of the 21st century, and why that might not be enough to save his job The Oilers went to back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals in 2024 and 2025. They got bounced in Round 1 in 2026. College Football Coaches Want a Bigger Playoff Most Piviotal Alabama Football Season Since 2008? Brian Kelly Adds Pressure to Lane Kiffin College football coaches are pushing for major postseason changes — and they could reshape the sport again. The American Football Coaches Association reportedly wants three big things: no conference championship games, a bigger College Football Playoff, and the season finished by mid-January. Would that fix college football’s postseason… or create even more problems? We also ask a massive Alabama Football question: is this the most pivotal Crimson Tide season since 2008? With Kalen DeBoer trying to fully establish his version of Alabama after the Nick Saban era, this season could define the direction of the program for years to come. Plus, former LSU head coach Brian Kelly is adding pressure to current Tigers coach Lane Kiffin. Is LSU already facing championship-or-bust expectations? Also on today’s show: where does Dabo Swinney rank among current ACC football coaches, what are the five “must-see” games on the 2026 college football schedule, and did Mark Pope and Kentucky Basketball just make a major PR mistake? Cleveland Guardians lose 2nd straight vs. Royals; Gavin Williams looks human again in start

Michael Massey hit a go-ahead two-run homer, Isaac Collins also went deep and the Kansas City Royals pushed their winning streak to five with a 5-3 victory over the AL Central-rival Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday night. Stephen Kolek allowed a three-run shot by Rhys Hoskins but little else over six innings in his season debut. The right-hander strained his oblique in his first start of spring training, but Kolek had pitched well in four rehab starts at Triple-A Omaha before the Royals had him make a spot start for Noah Cameron, who's dealing with some lower back tightness. Nick Mears and Daniel Lynch IV handled a scoreless inning apiece in relief for Kansas City, and Lucas Erceg worked around a two-out walk in the ninth to earn his third save in four games and 10th of the season. The Guardians' Gavin Williams (5-2) allowed five runs and eight hits with two walks while losing for the first time since March 27, when the Mariners beat him in the second game of the season. Williams had since won five decisions covering six starts. | https://www.espn.com/mlb/recap/_/gameId/401815221 Subscribe and ring the bell for the latest talk about the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians, Cleveland Cavaliers and Ohio State Buckeyes: https://bit.ly/ucss_subscribe Follow on Twitter: https://twitter.com/ultclesports Watch live on YouTube 11 a.m.-1 p.m. weekdays on YouTube and WKYC+ on your Roku and Fire TV apps!
