Los Angeles clearly respected Sale enough to move Freeman, Tucker, and Muncy down the order, while giving a hot hitter like Hyeseong Kim the day off to avoid the matchup. However, on Saturday, the Dodgers are deploying a more typical batting order, with Kim coming back and Freeland joining him at the bottom of the order. Tucker returns to the No. 4 spot, and Max Muncy moves up from No. 8 to No. 6. Freeman goes back to the No. 2 spot, with Smith going down to No. 3. The Braves are rolling out Spencer Strider, a right-hander who was once one of the most promising arms in baseball, though injuries and mechanics issues have cost him over the last season. Despite generating just three hits against Arizona starter Merrill Kelly, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza felt his team had pitches to hit but didn't take advantage of it in their 2-1 loss to the Diamondbacks.
