n 9 out of 12 finals since 2011, the side winning Qualifier 1 has gone on to win the final as well. Numbers matter. But if confidence, pressure and other sporting buzzwords were indeed irrelevant, cricket would've been played by robots. Chennai Super Kings have resisted letting the situation get to them in the past. Players who were a part of the setup have claimed that the feeling of playing a final was never really felt in the team. Yet, a day ahead of the 2023 final, Stephen Fleming, who has been a part of 11 IPL finals, doesn't deny that there is 'a bit of nervousness'. It's what makes the players perform at their best, according to him. On the other hand, Vikram Solanki, GT's Director of Cricket, put up a more relaxed front - of being confident in what the team has achieved in its brief past, as well as giving the due to CSK who have done it many times over. CSK may have dictated terms in the first Qualifier against Gujarat Titans, but on a slowish surface in Chennai, it was home comfort for them. Irrespective of how many fans turn up wearing the yellow jersey in Ahmedabad on Sunday in the hope to see MS Dhoni lift the trophy again in what could be his last game in the IPL, conditions will be far from home. Fleming isn't fretting though. Playing on all sorts of surfaces this season has equipped his team slightly better to neutral pitches, according to him. Solanki is expecting a fast, high-scoring wicket, similar to the one where the home side had chased down CSK's 178-run total with four balls to spare right at the start of the season. GT may be slightly better equipped for such conditions, asshowcased on Friday against Mumbai Indians. While a lot of skill and tactics will be at play, the title clash will boil down to the pressures of the day for two teams who have enjoyed spells of domination throughout the season. A day ahead of the game, Vikram Solanki has stated that the pitch is expected to be friendly for scoring runs. Welcome!! Welcome!! At the cusp of two months since the start of the IPL 2023 we are finally down to the last battle that determines the champion. It's the Master 💛 versus the Apprentice 💙 at the clash of clashes in the 16th edition of the IPL. The iconic Narendra Modi Stadium Ahmedabad will be staging today's main event clash. MS Dhoni is all set to play his 250th IPL match. Wherever CSK have played this year there's been a sea of yellow in the crowd. Dhoni who's hobbled through the season is yet to decide whether he'll come back next year. Today will be his 250th IPL appearance and this stadium which is starting to fill up quickly is going to be rocking at just a glimpse of the man. "The hope and joy his devotees raise at a fleeting vision of him on the big screen during Chennai Super Kings' innings explodes in a supernova of ecstasy when eventually he comes in to bat" writes Telford Vice. "The feeling of it is a wonder of the age even when seen and heard from the other hemisphere by the most agnostic of neutrals." What can perhaps worry GT? No batter other than Shubman Gill has stamped his authority. Sai Sudarshan has been impressive in the few opportunities he has got but the other batters have struggled a bit. No batter other than Gill is in the list of top 20 batters in this season. The fact that Hardik is second in the run scorer’s list and has scored 325 runs in total shows you that Gill has been on a different level. Their designated finishers Miller and Tewatia have had less game time and if the CSK bowlers manage to dismantle GT’s top order quickly it will be a stern test for them. The pressure of a finale can make even the best susceptible. What can perhaps worry CSK? A team that finished second after the league stages and then made it straight to the final generally don’t have too many weaknesses. However the success of their top-order has meant the middle order has had very little batting. The likes of Moeen Ali Ambati Rayudu and even Dhoni have had very little to do this season and a final would be a bad time for this franchise to lose 2-3 quick wickets. Secondly barring Deepak Chahar and Jadeja none of their bowlers have played an IPL final or even a game of this magnitude. So how will they hold up to more than a lakh spectators jeering them up will be interesting to see… Top Players on Venue: Shubman Gill: 630 Runs in 11 Matches Rashid Khan: 14 Wickets in 9 Matches Ruturaj Gaikwad: 92 Runs in 1 Match CSK vs GT (Player Battles) Devon Conway vs Mohammad Shami: Balls: 12 Runs: 5 Dismissals: 3 Shubman Gill vs Deepak Chahar: Balls: 47 Runs: 62 Dismissals: 3 Ruturaj Gaikwad vs Rashid Khan: Balls: 57 Runs: 84 Dismissals: 2 Hardik Pandya vs Ravindra Jadeja: Balls: 16 Runs: 18 Dismissals: 2. The weather is overcast at the Motera now. Some glimpses of white clouds can be spotted amidst the gloomy sky. Parts of Ahmedabad Anand Aravalli Bharuch & Vadodara are likely to experience light thunderstorms and strong winds during the next 2-3 hours according to the India Meteorological Department. So the latest updates say the match can start as late as 10:10 PM IST around without overs being lost (as per broadcast). We will start to lose overs after 9:30 PM IST (as per Harsha Bhogle) Cut-off time for a 5-over game: 11:56 PM IST. The toss is delayed due to the hosing down of rain ☔️. It is still pouring down and add on with the rain we have lightning and thunder. Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content. Will it be a sea of dark blue💜 or a sea of yellow💛Amidst a lakh spectators who will emerge victorious? Is it the last ride for the former Indian captain aka. one of the most decorated minds that the game has ever witnessed? MS Dhoni!!💪🏼Will Captain Cool have a fairytale ending in the glitterati league? Or is it still not over?😱 The story is yet to meet its climax. After 59 freaking days 🥶 and 73 scintillating clashes we are down to one last encounter where the Master meets the Protege at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium Ahmedabad. It's the battle of the two formidable sides of the 2023 Indian Premier League as Gujarat Titans rub shoulders with the Chennai Super Kings in the main event of the box-office show. Head-to-Head: After four matches between the two teams Gujarat Titans lead the contest with 3 wins whereas Chennai Super Kings have won just a single game against them. It was the Qualifier 1 encounter where CSK defeated GT for the first time. It is worth noting that the Yellow Army is yet to win a game against GT in Ahmedabad. Team Preview (Chennai Super Kings): The four-time champions have come a long way after an off-season last year. Chennai Super Kings seem to have been the team who have peaked at the right time in the ongoing IPL 2023. MS Dhoni and CSK is a different love story and the mastermind has blurred his future plans a few days back during the post-match presentations. One never knows if it is going to be the ultimate match of Captain Cool in the venerated Yellow jersey. CSK ended the league stages with 17 points from the full quota of 14 encounters. They won eight matches and lost six of them. One of the games against LSG was ruined due to rain. Finishing at the second spot in the league table the MS Dhoni-led unit played Qualifier 1 against the Titans and eclipsed them in a one-sided encounter in Chennai. Team Preview ( Gujarat Titans): The defending champions led by Hardik Pandya have been ever-dominant during the league stages of IPL 2023. They initiated with a win over the Chennai Super Kings in the season opener right at the Narendra Modi Stadium Ahmedabad. Since then they have never looked back on their aim to reach the finals and book their spot for the mega clash. Having played 14 games they have won 10 matches and secured 20 points thereby finishing at the top spot in the league table. The side has built a team around its core which includes the likes of Shubman Gill Wriddhiman Saha Hardik Pandya Rashid Khan Mohammad Shami David Miller and Rahul Tewatia. The best part of the franchise has been their role definition. Saha has gone over the 30-yard circle in the powerplay more often while Shubman Gill has played through his natural charisma amalgamated with sheer elegance. With three glorious centuries under his name the 23-year-old has been the 'Visionary' the 'Revolutionary' the 'Shubman Freakin Gill' for the Titans. Sai Sudharsan and Vijay Shankar have had their impact for the team in various circumstances. Even at times we have witnessed the skipper step up early with the bat and also with the ball in hand. The likes of David Miller Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia have formed the lower middle order for them with Abhinav Manohar on the queue as the impact substitute in certain situations. What to expect: Even as the weather is expected to be mostly sunny and dry the possibility of brief showers hasn't been ruled out. A day ahead of the game Vikram Solanki has stated that the pitch is expected to be friendly for scoring runs. IPL 2023 Qualifier 2 Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians Live This Match Will be Played at Narendra Modi Stadium Ahmedabad on 26th May 2023 This Match Will Start at 7.30pm From Indian Standard time. It is the Mumbai Indians skipper versus the former Mumbai Indians MVP. Who comes out on top? The flight takes off from Chennai and heads towards Ahmedabad where the ultimate two matches of the Indian Premier League will be staged. The Gujarat Titans have deservingly earned a second chance to be a part of the final after being eclipsed by the Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 1. Meanwhile Mumbai Indians seem to have caught momentum in this tournament and have finally found their best combination going in the tournament. They shadowed Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator and booked a spot to face the Titans in Qualifier 2. Team Preview (Gujarat Titans): The Hardik Pandya-led unit has been soaring high in the tournament until the major setback against the Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2023. They fetched 20 points from the quota of 14 matches and ended at the top of the league table with 10 wins and four losses. The side possesses a good blend of youth and experience that has helped them to enforce dominance in the league stages. Wriddhiman Saha has played some interesting innings at the top of the order whereas Shubman Gill has played the extended knocks for them. Vijay Shankar has been in sensational form this year and boasted of some match-winning performances. With a jam-packed lower order that includes David Miller Rahul Tewatia Abhinav Manohar/Dasun Shanaka and Rashid Khan the Titans' are a force to reckon with in this tournament. The bowling department has been fantastic with Mohammed Shami taking up the role with the new ball fantastically. Noor Ahmad and Rashid Khan have been controlling the middle phases with the assist from Mohit Sharma who has done a superb job in the slog overs as well. The defending champions look formidable and it seemed to have a bad day in their latest game. Team Preview (Mumbai Indians): The five-time champions initiated the competition in the most 'Mumbai Indians' fashion. They were on the receiving end of a defeat in their first two games. In their third match of the mega-event MI managed to eke past a close encounter against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The Titans defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore in the last match of the league stages of IPL 2023 cleared the path for MI to make a place in the top four. The Rohit Sharma-led community have played some brilliant cricket as the season progressed and chased down 200+ scores on four occasions which is the highest by any team this season. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan have glued crucial innings at times. Suryakumar Yadav and Cameron Green have peaked at the need of the hour for the side and lit up the stages. When it comes to finishing a few matches or playing some situation-oriented knocks Tilak Varma Tim David and Nehal Wadhera have manufactured some shows. From the bowling perspective MI withstood several setbacks before and during the tournament as Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out and Jofra Archer failed to complete his IPL sprint and went home midway. Jason Behrendorff and Chris Jordan have done some decent job with the ball whereas Akash Madhwal has been the standout performer for them. He extracted wickets when the team needed the most in three of MI's matches which includes their do-or-die encounters against SRH and LSG (Eliminator). Veteran Piyush Chawla has had an outstanding comeback with the cork in hand while either Hrithik Shokeen or Kumar Kartikeya is to play in their next assignment. IPL 2023 Qualifier 1 Gujarat Titans vs Chennai Super Kings Live This Match Will be Played at MA Chidambaram Stadium Chennai on 23rd May 2023 This Match Will Start at 7.30pm From Indian Standard time. The match will be taking place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday 23rd May at 7:30 PM IST. Team Preview (Gujarat Titans): The defending champions Gujarat Titans have been in brilliant form in this tournament. They have managed to win 10 of their 14 matches and finished at the top of the points table with 20 points. Now they will be going against the Super Kings whom they have defeated on all three previous occasions. A win in this match will mean that GT will be playing their second consecutive final since their entry into the tournament. The Hardik Pandya-led side has been a perfect example of how a team game should be played. In every match there has been a different match-winner for them with Shubman Gill being their most consistent batter. Mohammed Shami and Rashid have done a great job with the ball being at the top of the purple cap list. These two have ensured that the opposition never gets a reprieve during their batting efforts. The Titans will be going in all-out in this match in order to make it to the summit clash of the tournament and try to defend their title. Josh Little has returned to the GT camp after having a successful international stint in the middle of the IPL. Injury/Unavailability: Shankar regained full fitness ahead of Sunday's league game against RCB and came in as an impact sub to bat at No.3. Considering Shanaka hasn't had a lot to do with both bat and ball GT might turn to Joshua Little in the XI or as the impact sub. The left-arm pacer who was away for the Ireland-Bangladesh series returned to the GT squad ahead of the weekend fixture against RCB. He also trained in Chennai on the eve of the first qualifier. Team Preview (Chennai Super Kings): The Chennai Super Kings have been in good form this tournament. They have won eight of their 14 matches in the league stage. The Super Kings have made it to the playoffs with 17 points under their belt at the second position in the points table. Now they have a chance to make it to the summit clash of the tournament. Even if they lose this match they will have another shot to make it to the grand finale. The Super Kings have displayed good team game throughout the tournament. While there have been some consistent star performers in Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad players like Tushar Deshpande Shivam Dube and Matheesha Pathirana chipped in whenever needed. The team will now need to put on another strong performance to make it to the final of the tournament in one go overcoming the defending champions in Gujarat Titans. What to expect: A hot evening is in the offing where temperatures will hit the high 30s. The conditions at the venue suited batters early on but the wickets have slowed down as the tournament has progressed. It reflected in the scores made at the venue as the average 1st innings total came down from 182 in the first four games to 150 in the last three. CSK themselves were outspun in their last game there against KKR. Tuesday's game however will be played on pitch 5 where CSK and PBKS played out a high-scoring entertainer where the home team's 200/4 was chased down on the last ball. Pitch Report: The MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai has been known to offer assistance to both batters and bowlers. It typically favors stroke play due to its even bounce making it conducive for shot-making. The team winning the toss will likely prefer chasing in order to have a clear target in mind. That said they are up against one of the most successful chasing sides in Gujarat. On the other hand Gujarat would have liked to keep Chennai under 160 but they do have the resources to get over the line here. Do we have another Shubman Gill special on the cards? Gujarat being one of the most successful bowling sides in the Powerplay it was Mohammad Shami who opened the attack for them and bowled a quiet first over. Playing in his first game of the season Darshan Nalkande dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad in his very first over only for it to be a no ball. Gujarat seemed to have lost their way after this no ball incident and leaked a lot of runs during the Powerplay. They pulled things back nicely during the middle overs and seemed to have control of the proceedings. However they were unable to finish well conceding 35 runs in the last three overs. Shami was he pick of the bowlers for Gujarat with figures of 2 for 28 from his four overs. Mohammad Shami finishes off with a wicket but it is Chennai who have racked up a competitive total on the board! After Chennai were put into bat by Hardik Pandya as they have done all season Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway got Chennai off to a steady start. Conway was struggling for rhythm but Gaikwad was fluent as usual and stroked his fourth fifty of the season. After his dismissal the boundaries dried up for Chennai but Rahane provided some much-needed impetus with his cameo. Towards the end cameos by Rayudu Jadeja and Moeen Ali helped Chennai cross the 170-run mark. Up and over! Pitched up on the stumps Saha with a short backlift just thumps it over a leaping Deepak Chahar at mid on for the first boundary of the chase. All the way! Chahar drags it down the leg side Shubman Gill picks it up and flicks it over the backward square leg fence for a maximum. Fraction short and put away! This is bowled over the off stump Saha rocks back and pulls it away crisply in front of mid-wicket for a boundary. Picks the man out perfectly! Another short ball from Chahar over middle and begging to be hit. Saha pulls it away but doesn't get any elevation. the ball travels toward deep square leg where Pathirana doesn't have to move an inch and takes a simple catch. Chahar does get the breakthrough after conceding a couple of boundaries. Hardik Pandya is off the mark in fine fashion! Good length around off Pandya stays put and crunches it through covers for a boundary. Quality shot! A touch fuller around middle and over 142 clicks. Gill just leans in a bit and flicks it brilliantly in front of mid-wicket for a boundary. Gill is on the front foot here taking toll on Chahar. Bowls a length ball outside off. Gill gets on the front foot and swings hard with a pick up pull. Plays it over the mid-wicket fielder and gets another four. GT skipper bites the dust! Excellent captaincy from MS Dhoni to add an extra fielder in the off-side prior to this ball. Quicker one on a length outside off. Pandya stays on the back foot and throws his hands at it trying to pierce the cut through the in-field. Gets an outside edge which flies towards Jadeja at backward point. One of the best fielders in the word sorry the best fielder in the world Jaddu doesn't make any mistakes and won't do mistakes for the most part of the game. Around the wicket. Slightly slower and on a length turning away a bit outside off. Gill rocks back and cuts it hard finding the gap behind square on the off-side. It reaches the boundary in a flash. IPL 2023 Match 68 Kolkata Knight Riders vs Lucknow Super Giants Live Scores This Match Will be Played at Eden Gardens Kolkata on 20th May 2023 This Match Will Start at 7.30pm From Indian Standard time. KKR vs LSG IPL 2023 Match 68 Live Commentary By Sports Updates by Chandan. Follow us on Social Media. Facebook: https://m.facebook.com/Sports-Updates-by-Chandan-108054670939374/?ref=bookmarks YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCr2IiLqoVoqWHdyWW_inRkg YouTube 1: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdEtpnaEyqVJ3p5Xm3OqMEg Twitter: https://twitter.com/techindia251995?s=09 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/chandan_singh1/ Telegram: https://t.me/sportsupdatesbychandan Hello and welcome to our coverage of Match 68 between Kolkata Knight Riders and the Lucknow Super Giants. The equation is simple for Lucknow. A win takes them through to the playoffs regardless of what happens elsewhere. They might still go through even if they lose but for that to happen they need at least one of MI or RCB to lose tomorrow. As for KKR they need nothing short of a miracle to make the playoffs from here. Not only are they relying on other results they also need a massive win in this game to improve their NRR. To be precise they need to beat LSG by at least 110 runs if they score 180 batting first to climb above RCB on the table. So a 74-run stand between Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni revives Lucknow Super Giants from a terrible situation. The visitors have got 176 runs on the board and thanks to some calypso power. Nitish Rana the skipper of the Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bowl first. It was the two young guns- Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora who operated with the new ball. It was Harshit Rana who outsmarted the UP-based Karan Sharma in the third over of the innings. A 41 runs partnership followed between Prerak Mankad and Quinton de Kock for the second wicket with the former playing some crisp shots. But unfortunately for LSG Arora struck after the powerplay and followed it with another wicket in the same over. Stoinis who arrived then departed without disturbing the scorers much. Krunal Pandya and de Kock followed him with the scoreboard displaying 73-5 after 10.1 overs. The spinners operated in the middle phase with Suyash Sharma being the impact sub. The astonishing factor being that Suyash was given to bowl just a solitary over where he conceded 12 runs. The LSG batting came into the act with Nicholas Pooran lighting up the atmosphere at the Eden Gardens. He counter-punched the bowlers of KKR and helped the franchise reach a more than respectable total. Narine went on to remove Badoni at the end of the 18th over with Shardul Thakur bragging two scalps in the penultimate over. With some lusty blows from Krishnappa Gowtham off Andre Russell in the last over LSG ends the tally at 176. KKR will need 177 runs to get a consolation triumph. But here's a thing. If KKR scores at least 80 runs in this innings CSK will finish in the second position. Lucknow Super Giants (Playing XI): Quinton de Kock(w) Karan Sharma Prerak Mankad Marcus Stoinis Nicholas Pooran Krunal Pandya(c) Ayush Badoni Krishnappa Gowtham Ravi Bishnoi Naveen-ul-Haq Mohsin Khan. Lucknow Super Giants Subs: Kyle Mayers Yash Thakur Daniel Sams Yudhvir Singh Charak Deepak Hooda. Kolkata Knight Riders (Playing XI): Rahmanullah Gurbaz(w) Jason Roy Venkatesh Iyer Nitish Rana(c) Andre Russell Rinku Singh Shardul Thakur Sunil Narine Vaibhav Arora Harshit Rana Varun Chakaravarthy. Kolkata Knight Riders Subs: Suyash Sharma Mandeep Singh Anukul Roy N Jagadeesan David Wiese. Sunil Narine (Kolkata Knight Riders): "I think it's a good pitch if you put your mind into it you can bowl well. There is a bit of spin but you have to bowl a little quick.
