India are wonderfully placed at the start of day two. However there was a bit of wobble early in their innings after electing to bat first. They lost Yashasvi Jaiswal (10) Shubman Gill (0) and Rajat Patidar (5) in quick succession as they were reduced to 33/3 in the ninth over. Skipper Rohit was joined by Jadeja and both led the recovery work. The pair of Rohit and Jadeja held the innings nicely. The Indian skipper was dropped by Joe Root at first slip early in the innings and he pounced on the opportunity. He made sure that the English side pays a heavy price as he brought up his ton. Rohit and Jadeja put 204 between them before the former fell on 131. In walked debutant Sarfaraz and he played positively from the word go. Sarfaraz notched up a beautiful half-century in his debut innings and looked settled for a big score before being run out on 62. Jadeja brought up his century and remained unbeaten on 110 along with night-watchman Kuldeep Yadav (1*) as India finished day one on 326/5. Mark Wood has picked up three scalps for the English side. The second new ball is just three overs old and the visitors will look to make full use of it early on day two. Jadeja looked solid at the crease on day one and will be looking to go big and score a daddy hundred today. The dropped players do understand that the team management is really backing the players and giving them enough opportunities. But we have to go with what the team needs at certain times. In case of Axar that was the real case. But on this surface we thought we needed a wrist spinner who can turn the ball a little more. Bharat is a tough one actually. He is being doing well. He got a few opportunities but really couldn't convert those starts. I thought the team management decided to go with some change. We always knew that Sarfaraz can play spin well. But it was good to see him do that on this occasion and this stage." The only difference I see is that the cracks are a bit larger here. It's dried out. There is enough in the pitch to hold it together and it will be another good day for batting. Jadeja breaches the 100 finally! A sensational innings from the southpaw at his home ground. It's essentially a good pitch to bat on. But with cracks this big and they are opening up there will be an odd ball that will misbehave. A lot of the English bowlers bowled round the wicket yesterday so there is a rough there for maybe Ashwin to bowl into. But even if we talk a lot about it it's still a good pitch to bat on." Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. The 'Moving Day' lived up to expectations as the game ebbed and flowed to leave us with all four results possible with two days remaining in the Test. Considering England's 'Bazball' approach it will not be a surprise if the Test does not go into the fifth day and we get the result on Day 4 itself. On the other hand England will fancy their chances of chasing this mountain of a target going into Day 4. On Day 3 it was all set up by James Anderson in the first half hour before the spinners came to the fore to not let the game drift away from them. Although the visitors lost Ben Duckett before the close of the play and there are doubts over Joe Root's participation due to a finger injury England have ample firepower in the shed to get the remaining 332 runs. The first hour will be pivotal and could heavily influence the outcome of the Test. Who will blink first on Day 4? India's outing on Day 3 was headlined by Shubman Gill but the rest of the batting unit's performances left a lot to be desired. At one stage in the game on the third day they looked to be on course to take their lead over 400 but a bizarre passage of play after Tea saw their innings meander and eventually they were bowled out setting England a target of 399. The hosts have the runs on the board but will still be wary of England's ability to pull off big chases. Given their efforts with the ball in the first inning Rohit Sharma and his men start as slight favourites to win the Test from here more so with the surface expected to deteriorate. India's centurion of the second inning Shubman is in for a chat. He says that it was a good effort today but they could gotten more runs on the board. He talks about the early LBW review going his favour which gave him confidence. He mentions that wicket an easy one bat as the odd ball is keeping some them turning sharp. He ends saying that his father comes to watch most games he actually feels good when he is there watching. When asked about the situation of the game he responds by saying that it still looks 70-30 in favour of India but England have batting to chase. We have Eoin Morgan here. Please take it away." Eoin Morgan: "Good morning DK and to everyone. Of all the days played so far I think this is the most significant pitch report we will do today. We have seen a couple of balls with some variable bounce off spinners and seamers. When you land the ball short of a good length there is a huge crack amongst all of the cracks. Bumrah got a couple of balls to move and shoot low. It was challenging for Crawley yesterday. There is an absolute spider web of cracks today. Predominantly that crack will interest the English batters right-handed batters in particular." Dinesh Karthik: "Joe Root turns one big against Yashasvi Jaiswal. There is an effect of cracks for the spinners as well. If you look at the right-handed batters if I bend forward and look there are a few cracks here that India will be looking to exploit. Five times in fact since 2000. But only the great Australian team of 2004 had the legs to see an early lead to a series win. That's how hard it is to keep throwing punches in these conditions without copping them back with interest. Even in this decade of impregnability India have found ways to overturn early deficits. In Bengaluru they produced a clinic in attractional bowling. Four years later in Chennai they went the other way and raged on a raging turner. And so on to Vizag 2024 where the hosts will be out to convince the rest of the world that their facade is not in fact fraying and that they simply don't lose consecutive home Tests well not since 2012 anyway. But time is what it is and Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid now have to protect a proud record with a squad that has fewer Test runs.
