Goals from Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka ensured derby day delight for us as we beat our arch-rivals to maintain top spot in the Premier League table. Partey’s wonderful strike from distance set us on our way, and despite a Harry Kane penalty ensuring the sides went in level at the break, a poacher’s effort from Jesus restored our lead four minutes into the second half. Emerson Royal was then red carded for the visitors and soon after Xhaka drove in a third to secure a third straight home victor in this fixture for the first time since 2013. Emirates Stadium was bouncing ahead of kick-off as our Gooners created a cauldron of noise, and their efforts in the stands were matched on the field as we bossed the opening half an hour. The game was just two minutes old when Gabriel Martinelli saw a volley smack off Hugo Lloris’ post, and then Granit Xhaka saw an imaginative flick towards goal spin narrowly wide after a wonderful cross from Bukayo Saka. And on 20 minutes, we grabbed the lead with an absolute blockbuster. Saka was again involved, receiving possession on the right and found Ben White. He laid the ball off to Partey who curled it towards goal first-time from 25 yards, and saw it flash past Lloris and into the top corner to send the already-high decibel levels stratospheric. But for all our early dominance, Spurs found a way back level just 10 minutes later when we failed to clear our lines from a counter-attack and Gabriel fouled Richarlison in the area. Anthony Taylor pointed to the spot, allowing Kane to convert from 12 yards for the seventh time in north London derbies. Having levelled things up, Spurs’ tails were up and led to a shaky period for us with Kane heading straight at Ramsdale after another swift break, but we still nearly went into the break back in front when a mazy dribble in the box by Gabriel Jesus saw him beat two defenders but shoot straight at Lloris from close-range. However, just four minutes after the restart, the Brazilian did get his goal to flip the game back in our favour. Saka did well to jink inside from the right and get a shot away, which Lloris did well to parry. Cristian Romero dallied with the rebound, and inadvertently sent the ball squirming under his goalkeeper, allowing Jesus to pounce and slam it home. Our no. 9 looked destined to grab a second soon after but misplaced his header from an Oleksandr Zinchenko and sent a golden chance wide, but on 62 minutes we received another huge boost to our chances of victory when Royal was dismissed for a foul tackle from behind on Martinelli. Sensing an opportunity to seal the win, we quickly pressed for a third goal and after Saka bent a shot wide after coming inside, it arrived. Martinelli scampered down the left flank and got to the edge of the box, before laying it off to Xhaka who drilled a low shot under Lloris and grab his second of the campaign and send the stadium into delirium. That killed the game off as a contest and we easily saw out the final minutes amongst a crescendo of noise as we matched last season's fine result, ended our opponents' unbeaten start, remained on top spot and sent all Gooners home happy. #arsenal Enjoy match highlights, training and behind the scenes to get closer to the likes of Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Emile Smith Rowe, Vivianne Miedema, Gabriel Jesus, Alex Zinchenko, Leah Williamson, Kim Little, Mana Iwabuchi, Jordan Nobbs, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Kim Little, Gabriel Martinelli, Aaron Ramsdale, Beth Mead, Ben White and more. Ahead of City's Premier League meeting with Aston Villa on Sunday, take a trip down memory lane with these classic strikes. Pep Guardiola's side head into this weekend knowing that victory over Aston Villa will seal our fourth title in five seasons. To get you in the mood, we've selected some of our favourite goals in home matches against Villa through the years. We start with Yaya Toure's bursting run from the halfway line in the 2013/2014 title run-in before nipping back to 2004 when Shaun Wright-Phillips rifled a left footed strike into the top corner from all of 25 yards. That same man was at the heart of the next strike a full six years later, jinking down the left wing before supplying Craig Bellamy, who curled home. Then we go to October 2011 and an acrobatic effort from Mario Balotelli before the selection is completed with a strike from last season, when Bernardo Silva hammered home with that magical left boot of his. The Reds produced a rampant display to round off their 2021/22 league campaign, scoring 10 tries in overwhelming their Coventry hosts. The 104-point aggregate at the Butts Park Arena was a record for the Reds in their time in the Championship, coming almost exactly a decade after a win at the same ground clinched the National 1 title and promotion to the second tier. Jordan Holgate started the ball rolling when he forced his way over for a try by the posts within four minutes, but the centre was then forced off with an injury and replaced by Scott Van Breda. The home side then took the lead with two scores of their own: hooker Suva Ma’asi from a maul and wing Tom Stanton in the corner. Although Eoghan Clarke and his forward colleagues then delivered a mauled try for the Reds, Cov responded in kind through Ma’asi to regain the lead. Three tries in the last 10 minutes of the half saw the Reds build a decent lead. Harry Simmons claimed the first after a clever lobbed kick by James Mitchell bounced nicely for him near the posts, then Clarke added another mauled effort. Simmons’ second followed a turnover by replacement Wes White and a kick through by Van Breda which his team-mate reached first and dotted down. Looking to reinforce their lead soon after the resumption, the visitors took advantage of errors by their opponents to claim a sixth try through Dan Barnes, only for the Blue-and-Whites to claim their bonus-point try scored by lock James Tyas. Sam Leeming’s first try for the Reds was a beauty as he beat three players in a jinking run to the line, and then another replacement got in on the act as TJ Harris forced his way over in the corner to mark his return from a four-month injury lay-off. The pace of scoring didn’t ease off, with Will Owen claiming another try for the hosts and then Simmons completing his hat-trick following a flowing move down the three-quarters which featured a galloping run by Alex Humfrey and a scoring pass from Dan Barnes that enabled Simmons to finish in the corner. James Martin’s interception gave some cheer to the home supporters, but the Reds had the final word as James Mitchell crossed in the last play. Tom Pittman added two points from the tee after Leeming had earlier registered seven conversions from eight attempts. The match aggregate was well beyond the previous club record in the Championship: 85 points a Rotherham in September 2012, when the Yorkshire side won 54-31, and the same tally at Ampthill in November 2019, when the Reds won 38-47. Ten tries was also a record Championship haul, surpassing eight scored on four previous occasions, including the previous game against Nottingham. And the total points of 66 was another record, surpassing the 56 scored against Yorkshire Carnegie in January 2020 and 52 on two occasions in 2018, away at London Scottish and Hartpury. The result made sure that the Reds will finish fourth in the final standings, with 69 points in 20 games, surpassing the previous best tally of 65 points in 22 games in 2017/18. The Reds will take on Ayrshire Bulls in a friendly this Saturday (k-o 3pm) before starting their Championship Cup campaign with a home fixture against London Scottish on Saturday April 9th (k-o 5pm). Hyderabad FC were second best on the night, losing 0-1 to ATK Mohun Bagan in the second leg of the Hero Indian Super League semifinal, but made history at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim by qualifying for their first final with a 3-2 victory on aggregate over two legs, in an exhilarating contest between the two teams here on Wednesday. Roy Krishna scored in the 79th minute to give ATKMB a glimmer of hope and make for an end-to-end last ten minutes but in the end, it was not enough for the finalists of last season as the men in yellow booked a final date with Kerala Blasters at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda on Sunday. In the first leg, Bartholomew Ogbeche, Yasir Mohammad and Javier Siverio netted for Hyderabad. Hyderabad head coach Manolo Marquez played the same team that won the first leg 3-1 while Juan Ferrando made a few changes to the ATKMB side from the last game with the ever-dependable centre-back Tiri being a forced one as he picked up an injury in the last game. Kiyan Nassiri -- who scored a memorable hattrick in the Kolkata derby earlier this season -- got a start. ATKMB looked the likelier of the two teams to nod ahead in the opening exchanges, the Mariners needing two goals atleast to make a comeback. Liston Colaco was proving to be a handful for the Hyderabad defenders as he time and again put Nim Dorjee Tamang to the sword with his jinking runs. Colaco's industry could have paid dividends soon but the local boy curled his effort just wide of target after dribbling past a few Hyderabad shirts inside the box. Colaco then tried to set up Krishna with a similar run and delivery inside the box but Yasir Mohammad did well to keep the Fijian striker at bay. There was no stopping Colaco as he shimmied past a few defenders post the drinks break and took a swipe at goal only for Laxmikant Kattimani to pull off a stunning save with his outstretched leg. At the other end, Aniket Jadhav spurned a gilt-edged chance to make it 4-1 on aggregate for Hyderabad from a Yasir ball, nodding a free header from five yards, wide. The best chance of the half, though, fell to Hugo Boumous who could not stab home from handshaking distance after a pin-point Prabir Das cross set him up perfectly, the French-Moroccan sliding in to get a touch on the ball as well but only dragging his effort wide. Just before halftime, Joni Kauko shot wide, to sum up ATKMB's half of missed opportunities. Hyderabad suffered a blow early on in the second half when Sauvik Chakrabarti had to come off due to an injury, Sahil Tavora replacing the midfielder. ATKMB kept piling on one attack after another as Hyderabad sat back and defended deep. Ferrando took off Sandesh Jhingan and threw in Manvir Singh, going all out in search of goals. There were huge appeals for a penalty when Joni Kauko was brought down by Akash Mishra but replays showed he was tackled just outside the box. The goal came from a likely source for ATKMB as Colaco showed his magic again down the left flank, bursting down that side to cross from the byline at the far post where Krishna was on hand to slam home from close. ATKMB threw in the towel in the last ten minutes but it proved to be too tall an order for them in the end as they succumbed to a semifinal exit. #HeroISL #LetsFootball #IndianSuperLeague 🔊 LIKE ➡ SHARE ➡ SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa... Chennaiyin FC rode a second-half blitz to move third in the points table as they heaped more misery on NorthEast United FC with a 2-1 victory in the Hero Indian Super League at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda on Saturday. Laldanmawia Ralte helped NorthEast United take the lead in the 35th minute before Ariel Borysiuk (52nd) and Vladimir Koman (58th) got Chennaiyin back in the game within a space of six minutes. The result means Chennaiyin have now jumped to third place from seventh with 18 points from 12 matches while NorthEast United remain at the foot of the table having collected just nine points from 13 games. Chennaiyin started the game on the front foot, displaying some eye-catching passing football and keeping the rival defenders on their toes. Nerijus Valskis warmed Mirshad Michu's gloves early on as the blue shirts seemed to play with more purpose. Against the run of play, Laldanmawia Ralte broke free but wasted an opportunity to spoil Chennaiyin's applecart. But Laldanmawia did not have to wait long to atone for his mistake as he found the back of the net albeit fortuitously in the 35th minute. Debjit Majumder was to blame under the Chennaiyin bar for coming off his line unnecessarily and conceding a corner. Off the flag-kick, Majumder was again caught on the wrong foot as he flapped down the ball unconvincingly into the danger area for a lurking Laldanmawia to slot home. At halftime, NorthEast United led 1-0 and also looked to turn the tide after Chennaiyin dominated the first half-an-hour. But in the second half, Chennaiyin took the game by the scruff of the neck, Rahim Ali putting the ball in the path of Borysiuk whose tame effort deflected off Sehnaj Singh's right boot to go inside. Things took a turn for the worse for the Highlanders as keeper Michu looked in a lot of discomfort but coach Khalid Jamil decided to keep him on until his poor outing cost them the second goal. Koman's free-kick missed everyone as Michu ventured out of his line to see the ball go past him and into the back of the net. Subhasish Roy Choudhary replaced Michu. Stung by the twin setback, Jamil sent star forward Marcelinho, who joined NorthEast United in the January transfer window, in for Laldanmawia in the 64th minute and the Brazilian made an immediate impact with his jinking runs and cutting edge in the final third. Marcelinho tried his luck from range to just send his effort wide before his delicious corner found Patrick Flottmann whose header came off the post with his rebound flying over the bar. Hernan Santana blew a golden opportunity closer to full time when he sent a free header off target from a Marcelinho corner before Majumder redeemed himself with a double save from Marco Sahanek and Imran Khan on the rebound. #HeroISL #LetsFootball #IndianSuperLeague 🔊 LIKE ➡ SHARE ➡ SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa...
