The World Baseball Classic delivered another thriller in Miami as the Netherlands and Nicaragua battled in a tight Pool D matchup at loanDepot Park. Nicaragua looked like they had the game in hand late after Jeter Downs crushed a clutch two-run home run in the 8th inning, giving Nicaragua a late lead and shifting momentum their way. But the Dutch squad refused to go quietly. The Netherlands responded in dramatic fashion, rallying in the final inning and walking off Nicaragua to secure a 4–3 victory, keeping their hopes alive in Pool D play. This game had everything: clutch hitting, late-game pressure, and the type of drama that makes the World Baseball Classic one of the most electric tournaments in baseball. From a coach’s perspective, this game is a perfect reminder that no lead is safe in international baseball — execution in the final innings decides everything. ⚾ Game Highlights • Jeter Downs’ go-ahead 2-run HR in the 8th • Netherlands late comeback • Walk-off finish in Miami • Pool D standings implications If you love international baseball and WBC coverage, make sure to subscribe and follow Coach Joel Baseball for breakdowns, highlights, and real baseball insight.
