Stage 5 is a brute of a day: 210.2km long and filled with big climbs and tricky descents. The HC Furkapass (16.5km at 6.4%) and cat. 1 Oberalppass (10.7km at 5.5%) come early in the stage, but it's the HC Albulapass (17.4km at 6.8%) and the 10km descent to the line in La Punt where the stage will be decided. The climbing ramps up on stage 4 with a 153km route between Monthey and Leukerbad. The first half of the stage is more or less flat, but then comes the ascent of Crans-Montana - recently used as a summit finish at the Giro - followed by the Höhenweg (19km at 4.5%), before a short descent and a final kick to the line.
