Steep Basque Climbs Make For Intense Racing! | Vuelta A España 2022 Stage 4 Highlights
The race enters Spain with a nasty-looking stage in the Basque Country. There may only be 2,500m of climbing on the menu, but a stepped climb in the last 15km followed by an uphill drag to the line is going to entice the puncheurs and GC contenders into action. Stage 5 is the longest of the race at 175.7km in total. Ordinarily, the elevation profile would point towards the sprinters, but with such a long way between the start in Bar-le-Duc and finish in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, it’s going to be difficult for any of the six-rider teams to control the race for a bunch sprint.
