That said they are up against one of the most successful chasing sides in Gujarat. On the other hand Gujarat would have liked to keep Chennai under 160 but they do have the resources to get over the line here. Do we have another Shubman Gill special on the cards? Gujarat being one of the most successful bowling sides in the Powerplay it was Mohammad Shami who opened the attack for them and bowled a quiet first over. Playing in his first game of the season Darshan Nalkande dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad in his very first over only for it to be a no ball. They pulled things back nicely during the middle overs and seemed to have control of the proceedings. However they were unable to finish well conceding 35 runs in the last three overs. Shami was he pick of the bowlers for Gujarat with figures of 2 for 28 from his four overs. Mohammad Shami finishes off with a wicket but it is Chennai who have racked up a competitive total on the board! After Chennai were put into bat by Hardik Pandya as they have done all season Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway got Chennai off to a steady start. Conway was struggling for rhythm but Gaikwad was fluent as usual and stroked his fourth fifty of the season. After his dismissal the boundaries dried up for Chennai but Rahane provided some much-needed impetus with his cameo. Towards the end cameos by Rayudu Jadeja and Moeen Ali helped Chennai cross the 170-run mark. Up and over! Pitched up on the stumps Saha with a short backlift just thumps it over a leaping Deepak Chahar at mid on for the first boundary of the chase. All the way! Chahar drags it down the leg side Shubman Gill picks it up and flicks it over the backward square leg fence for a maximum. Fraction short and put away! This is bowled over the off stump Saha rocks back and pulls it away crisply in front of mid-wicket for a boundary. Picks the man out perfectly! Another short ball from Chahar over middle and begging to be hit. Saha pulls it away but doesn't get any elevation. the ball travels toward deep square leg where Pathirana doesn't have to move an inch and takes a simple catch. Chahar does get the breakthrough after conceding a couple of boundaries. Hardik Pandya is off the mark in fine fashion! Good length around off Pandya stays put and crunches it through covers for a boundary. Quality shot! A touch fuller around middle and over 142 clicks. Gill just leans in a bit and flicks it brilliantly in front of mid-wicket for a boundary. Gill is on the front foot here taking toll on Chahar. Bowls a length ball outside off. Gill gets on the front foot and swings hard with a pick up pull. Plays it over the mid-wicket fielder and gets another four. GT skipper bites the dust! Excellent captaincy from MS Dhoni to add an extra fielder in the off-side prior to this ball. Quicker one on a length outside off. Pandya stays on the back foot and throws his hands at it trying to pierce the cut through the in-field. Gets an outside edge which flies towards Jadeja at backward point. One of the best fielders in the word sorry the best fielder in the world Jaddu doesn't make any mistakes and won't do mistakes for the most part of the game. Around the wicket. Slightly slower and on a length turning away a bit outside off. Gill rocks back and cuts it hard finding the gap behind square on the off-side. It reaches the boundary in a flash. They chased down a score of over 200 in the last game but this is not Wankhede and it is not that easy to chase here. They still need to back themselves though and let's see how they go about their business against the likes of Arshdeep Singh and Nathan Ellis who are brilliant in the death. Mumbai well they were again very poor in the death overs. They got an early wicket of Prabhsimran Singh in the Powerplay and then their two spinners Piyush Chawla and Kumar Kartikeya bowled well in the middle overs. Chawla got two wickets as well but once he was done with his spell the duo of Jitesh and Livingstone just exploded. Jofra Archer Mumbai's premier bowler was hammered all over the park as he ended with 56 runs in his four overs. Akash Madhwal though showed signs of being a good death bowler but overall it has been another disappointing performance from Mumbai bowlers. The home team Punjab lost Prabhsimran Singh early but Dhawan batted with intent although Matthew Short failed to get going at the other end. Dhawan was outfoxed by Chawla though and Short also could not last longer. However that turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Punjab as Jitesh walked out with his usual swagger. He had Livingstone alongside him and both smashed Mumbai bowlers all over the park with Jofra Archer too not spared. Both of them stayed unbeaten and stitched together a stand of 119 off 53 balls as Livingstone scored 82 off 42 balls and Jitesh Sharma ended with 49 off 27 balls to take Punjab to a mammoth total here. Punjab go into the break with a big smile on their face. Their powerful batting line-up has once again shown its supremacy against a relatively inexperienced Mumbai bowling attack. Absolute carnage in the death overs again and they have smashed 69 runs in the last five overs. They have reached a very good score now and Mumbai would need to bat well to chase down another 200-plus total. Rohit Sharma departs without troubling scorers and Mumbai are off to the worst possible start! Rishi Dhawan bowls this on a length and wide outside the off pole. Green gets enough bat on this to send it flying to the fence! Curran bowls this short and wide outside the off pole. Green slashes at this hard and gets this off the thickish outside edge towards third man for four runs. When Green hits this ball it stays hit! The two hitters for the host took them beyond the 200-run mark and they will be silently confident of their chances in this game. David Miller and Rahul Tewatia have shown why they are the best finishers in the Indian T20 League! Gujarat have finished strong as they put on 70 runs in the last four overs and have 207 runs on the board which they will be mightily pleased with. Mumbai's death bowling woes continued as they were unable to wrap up the good effort they put in for the first 16 overs. Arjun Tendulkar and Jason Behrendorff bowled with discipline with the former drawing first blood. The spinners controlled the middle overs well with Piyush Chawla taking two crucial wickets and Kumar Kartikeya dismissing the dangerous-looking Shubman Gill. Cameron Green had an off day as he conceded 39 runs in two overs while Riley Meredith and Jason Behrendorff also went for plenty in their last overs despite taking one wicket each. Wriddhiman Saha fails to get a hand on it and the ball runs away into the fence. In this IPL Mohammed Shami has bowled 70 dots in the first six overs which is the most by a bowler. Gets one away and that will help Ishan Kishan boost his confidence. Short of a length around middle and leg Kishan picks it up and short-arm jabs it over mid-wicket for a boundary. Mumbai Indians are struggling in the run chase of 208. They have lost Rohit Sharma very early to Hardik Pandya and have just 29 runs in six overs. Both Shami and Pandya bowled magnificently and kept the batters on bay. Green is trying to smash them but Kishan is unable to put proper bat on the ball. Rajasthan will be a tad bit disappointed with that bowling effort as there were occasions in the first innings that they had Gujarat on the back foot but simply couldn't capitalize. Trent Boult got an early wicket but was pretty expensive. The spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal picked up just a single wicket in between them and went for a bit of runs as well. Adam Zampa though bowled really well and picked up a wicket. The pick of the bowlers once again was Sandeep Sharma who was riding high on confidence from the last game and bowled valiantly at the death picking up a couple of wickets as well. Rajasthan will feel that their batters will be able to chase this one down. Gujarat were pegged back early as Wriddhiman Saha fell in the very first over. Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill looked to be forming a gritty stand but the former was run out and Gujarat looked in trouble. The skipper then walked in and played flamboyantly and Gill too found his groove. Pandya fell looking to keep up the ante and Gill too couldn't stay on for much longer. It was then some big hitting from Abhinav Manohar and David Miller in the death overs that really fired Gujarat to a total that they will feel is a good one. A flurry of big hits toward the end from the likes of David Miller and Abhinav Manohar has seen Gujarat post a solid total of 177 runs. It was a topsy-turvy first inning but going into the break Rajasthan will be the slightly happier of the two sides. That will ease the nerves a bit. Fullish length on the pads Devdutt Padikkal stays back and clips it aerially over the mid-wicket region to pick up a boundary the first of the run chase.
