Opening day specialist Erling Haaland bagged a brace while summer signings Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki scored on their Premier League debuts as City got off to the perfect start courtesy of a 4-0 opening day victory at Wolves. Haaland tapped home at the back post for the opener just past the half hour mark after a pinpoint cross from the left by Rico Lewis. Reijnders doubled our lead moments later after moving onto an Oscar Bobb through ball and producing a classy finish. Our No.9 Haaland, who has now scored on each of his four Premier League opening days, put the game beyond Wolves with a mesmeric move involving Reijnders and Bobb which ended with the clinical Norwegian firing past Jose Sa. Fellow new boy Cherki completed the scoring on a wonderful afternoon with a bullet drive just eight minutes after coming on. Bremen versuchte es mit steilen Pässen in die Spitze, und Neu-Coach Horst Steffen, der von der SV Elversberg gekommen war, sah einige starke Kombinationen seines Teams. Doch Marco Grüll (14.) vergab nach einem sehenswerten Angriff leichtfertig aus spitzem Winkel die Führung. Daraufhin übernahm die Bremer, auch dank hohen Pressings, die Spielkontrolle und suchten oft den erst 18 Jahre alten Debütanten Patrice Covic auf der linken Außenbahn. Eine präzise Flanke des ballsicheren Kroaten fand Felix Agu, der am zweiten Pfosten freistehend den Ball nicht richtig traf (33.). Arminia hingegen lauerte auf Konter. Die beste Chance aber ergab sich aber aus einem Freistoß, den Stefano Russo jedoch über das Tor schoss (39.). Die zweite Hälfte startete ähnlich. Dann wurde Leonard Bittencourt mit einer gelb-roten Karte wegen eines Fouls vom Platz. Danach drängten die Arminen auf die Führung. Julian Kania fehlten bei einem Fernschuss aus über 40 Metern nur Zentimeter (55.), dann scheiterte er per Hacke an Werder-Keeper Michael Zetterer (57.). The Dutch international showed all his prowess in attacking areas with two fine finishes and could even have come away with a hat-trick if not for an unfortunate slip after rounding goalkeeper Alfred Gomis.
