Mumbai Indians were then dealt a rude shock themselves in their innings but a gritty 102 not out off just 51 balls by Suryakumar Yadav helped them eventually record a comfortable seven-wicket win with nearly three overs to spare. Jasprit Bumrah got the breakthrough by dismissing Abhishek Sharma after debutant Anshul Kamboj's dismissal of Travis Head was overturned due to a no-ball. Kamboj did eventually get his first wicket by dismissing Mayank Agarwal after which Head's charmed existence was ended by Piyush Chawla in the 11th over. MI captain Hardik Pandya then got the wicket of Nitish Kumar Reddy next over and then Chawla sent back the dangerous Heinrich Klaasen for just two runs.
