Sunrisers Hyderabad bought Mohammad Shami for ₹10 crore. Gujarat Titans also acquired Kagiso Rabada for ₹10.75 crore. But Delhi Capitals made the highest bid of ₹14 crore for KL Rahul, bringing him into their team. He used to play for Lucknow Super Giants. Yuzvendra Chahal was purchased by Punjab Kings for ₹18 crore. Similarly, Punjab Kings also bought Arshdeep Singh for ₹18 crore. However, on the first day of the IPL 2025 Auction, Shreyas Iyer became the most expensive player in IPL history when Punjab Kings bought him for ₹26.75 crore. But just a few minutes later, Rishabh Pant broke that record as Lucknow Super Giants acquired him for a whopping ₹27 crore. Jos Buttler, at ₹15.75 crore, remained the most expensive overseas player. However, some big names like Jonny Bairstow and Devdutt Padikkal went unsold on the first day of the auction.

It wasn't too long ago that Rajasthan Royals were riding high at the top of the table looking like the team to beat. But with just one win in the last five matches their campaign is in danger of going off the rails. Their latest defeat at the hands of table-toppers. Gujarat Titans was a real low point and they will be desperate to bounce back quickly. Speaking of low points Sunrisers have had plenty of them this season and are in a situation where every game is a must-win contest if they are to dream of making the playoffs. So it's two teams who need a win very badly today. Samson finishes it off in style as Rajasthan Royals post a mammoth total on the board. RR have put 214/2 at the end of their allotted 20 overs and it was the top three batters who did the bulk of the job for the home side. Earlier in the evening Rajasthan Royals won the toss and decided to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal again gave the team a flying start and his partner in crime Jos Buttler was very watchful during the partnership of 54 runs. Jaiswal (35 off 18) was out in the 5th over as Marco Jansen used his height effectively. Then Sanju Samson joined hands with Buttler and scored briskly. Both added 138 runs for the second wicket and kept SRH bowlers at bay. After a string of low scores the English wicket-keeper batter announced himself back and hammered 10 fours and 4 sixes in his knock of 95 from 59 balls. He was trapped infront by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the penultimate over and made sure that Jos the Boss didn't get to the three figures. Samson was unbeaten at 66 off 38 balls which included 4 fours and 5 sixes helping the side go well past the magical 200-run mark. Shimron Hetmyer was not out at the other end scoring 7 off 5 balls. Sunrisers' bowlers didn't have a great day at the office and were on the receiving end of the big partnership between Samson and Buttler. There is some turn on offer and it is not that easy for a new batter. The chase will be a trickier one for the visiting Hyderabad side.
